    FOCAL1) DOMINOES.Working in a well-

    ventilated area, use the stamps andink to decorate the smooth side of thedominoes, creating a triptychlikescene. Allow to dry. Use the perma-nent markers to color the stampedimages as desired. Allow to dry. Set

    the dominoes on the newspaper,smooth side up, and spray a light coatof acrylic. Allow to dry. Set the domi-noes aside.

    2) COLUMNS.Use crystal cubes towork ladder-stitched columns be-tween the dominoes:Columns:Use 2' of white thread and

    crystal cubes to work a strip of lad-der stitch 12 beads long (2 beads

    taller than the domino), leaving an8" tail. Reinforce the strip by mak-ing 2 whipstitches around thethread between each bead (Fig. 1).

    Set aside; do not trim the working andtail threads (they will be used whencompleting the frame). Repeat threetimes for a total of 4 columns.

    Connect:Lay Column 1 along the leftside of the first domino in the trip-tych (it should be centered top to

    bottom). Use the working or tailthread to weave through the col-umn to exit the cube that lines up

    with the dominos top horizontallydrilled hole; pass through the dom-ino and into the matching cube ofColumn 2. Whipstitch down theright side of Column 2 and passthrough the cube that lines up withthe dominos bottom horizontally

    drilled hole; pass through the dom-ino and the matching cube of Col-umn 1 (Fig. 2). Repeat the

    connecting thread path severaltimes to reinforce. Secure thethread and trim.

    Use the working or tail thread of Col-umn 2 to join Columns 2 and 3 and

    the center domino in the same man-ner as the first domino. Repeat againto connect Columns 3 and 4 and thethird domino.

    3) FRAME.Weave Column 1s remain-ing thread through beads to exit anend cube, toward the domino. String5 cubes; pass through the end beadfrom Column 2. Repeat entire step toadd 5 cubes between the tops of eachcolumn, then between the bottoms of

    each column, securing the currentthread and using one of the other re-maining threads as needed.

    Weave through beads to exit from oneof the middle cubes added betweencolumns. Pass through the domino

    vertically, the middle cube at the otherside of the domino, and back throughthe domino (Fig. 3). Repeat the thread

    path to reinforce. Secure the threadand trim. Repeat for each domino.

    Use the black marker to color the ex-posed thread on the outside of Col-umns 1 and 4.

    STRAPS4) BAND.Use 6' of smoke thread tomake a strip of square stitch 15E wideand 27 rows long, or long enough tofit half your neck minus the width of

    one half of the clasp and half thewidth of the focal. Square-stitch theend of the band to the exposed whip-stitched edge of Column 1 (Fig. 4).Repeat entire step to make the sec-ond half of the band that attaches toColumn 4.

    5) COLOR LOOPS.Start a newthread that exits from 1E at the edge

    of the band row that attaches to thefocal, toward the center of the work.

    String 3A, 1B, and 3A; pass throughthe 1E again and the next 1E of thesame row (Fig. 5); repeat down the

    row. Embellish each band row withloops, gradually changing the colorcombination of the cylinder beads foreach loop to make a shifting color

    pattern.Note:Here the opaque beadsshift from dark to light while continu-ing to incorporate some A beads in al-most every loop. Also reduce thenumber of beads per loop and thetotal number of loops per row so thatby the final row you only embellishevery other band bead with loops of

    3 cylinder beads each. Do not cut theworking thread.

    Repeat entire step to add loops to thesecond half of the band.

    6) EDGING.Weave through beads toexit from 1E at the end of the lastband row. String 3A; pass backthrough the 1E and up through thenext 1E; repeat once. String 1 crystalround and 1D; pass back through the

    crystal, the 1E just exited, and upthrough the next 1E (Fig. 6).

    Repeat down the length of this half of

    the band. Repeat entire step on all re-maining edges of the band to add mir-ror picots and fringe.

    7) CLASP.Cut twelve " pieces ofFrench wire. Set aside. Line up onehalf of the clasp next to one strap endto determine where the loops matchthe beads. Weave through beads toexit the E that matches up with thefirst clasp loop. String 1 wire segment;

    pass through the clasp loop and the

    1E again. Weave through beads to exitfrom the next clasp-loop match point

    (Fig. 7). Repeat to secure all 6 clasploops. Secure the thread and trim.Repeat entire step at the other end ofthe necklace. F

    experiment with stamping and coloring.

    If you make an artistic oops while the ink is still wet, wipethe ink off with a cotton swab dipped in nail-polish remover.If the ink has dried, lightly sand the ink off using ne-gradesandpaper.

    Its helpful to use chain-nose pliers to push and pull yourneedle through the base beads of the band when making theloops.

    If a choker isnt for you, just make the straps shorter to createa stunning bracelet, or longer, to make a belt.

    If desired for added strength, brush Future oor polish on thebeadwork, avoiding the dominoes. Drain on paper towels andallow to dry.

    1) BEADED RINGS.Use 3' of threadto stitch and embellish a right-angle-weave ring:Unit 1:String 1C, 1E, 1C, 1D, 1C, 1E, 1C,

    and 1D. Tie a knot to form a tightcircle, leaving a short tail (Fig. 1a).Pass through the first 4 beads tohide the knot, exiting from 1D. Trimthe tail.

    Units 2 and 3:String 1C, 1E, 1C, 1D, 1C,1E, and 1C. Pass through the last Dexited in the first unit and the first4 beads just added. Repeat to forma third unit.

    Unit 4:Fold the strip so the first andthird units match. String 1C, 1E,and 1C; pass through 1D at the endof the first unit. String 1C, 1E, and1C; pass through the 1D at the endof the third unit (Fig. 1b). Weave

    through this unit again to reinforce,then exit from 1C with the needlefacing toward 1E.

    Unit embellishment:String 1A, 1F, and 1A.Lay the strand diagonally across the

    unit and pass through the nearest1C. String 2B; pass through the next1C in this unit. String 1A; passthrough the 1F added at the begin-ning of this step. String 1A; passthrough the diagonal 1C and pulltight so the As and F form an Xshape. String 2B; pass through thenearest 1C in this unit (Fig. 2).

    Weave through beads to exit from1C, with the needle facing toward1E in the next unit; repeat this step

    to embellish all 4 units.Corners:Add embellishments between

    the corners of the units: Exit from1C at the top of a unit with the nee-dle facing toward 1D. String 2B andpass through the next 1C, 1E, and1C; repeat around to add 2Bbetween the tops of each unit, fill-ing the corners (Fig. 3). Weave

    through beads to exit from 1Ctoward 1D on the other side of theunits. String 2B and pass through1C, 1E, and 1C; repeat around toadd 2B between the bottoms of

    each unit. Exit from 2B added inthis step.Flowers:Pass through the 8B that

    surround the 1D above the last 2Bexited. Pull tight to form a circlearound the 1D, creating a flower(Fig. 4). Weave through the nearest

    1C, 1E, and 1C to exit the next cor-ner 2B; repeat around to form atotal of 4 flowers. Exit from 1C.

    Pearl center:String one 8mm pearl andpop it inside the ring. Pass the nee-dle around threads on the oppositeside of the ring, pass back throughthe pearl, and pass the needle

    around threads on the initial side;repeat, passing back and forth tofirmly seat the pearl (Fig. 5). Securethe thread and trim.

    Jump rings:Open 1 jump ring, passthrough the outside edge of the ringso that it surrounds 1F; close thejump ring. Attach another jumpring in the same manner on the

    opposite side of the ring (Fig. 6). Setthe ring aside.

    Repeat entire step four times to forma total of 5 rings.

    2) FOCAL.Stamp the back of thecabochon and then use right-angle

    weave to surround it with a bezel:

    Stamp cabochon:Use the stamps and inkpads to decorate the back of thecabochon; allow to dry. Spray withclear acrylic; allow to dry.

    Bezel:Use 6' of thread to repeat Step 1,this time working 11 units aroundand omitting the pearl center. Exitfrom 1D toward the center of thebezel.

    Bezel loops:String 8B and pass throughthe next 1D; string 8B and passthrough the 1D previously exited to

    form a circle of beads that sitsinside the bezel. Weave through thefirst 8B strung and the nearest 1D(Fig. 7). Repeat around to add circles

    of 16B between each 1D. Weavethrough beads to exit the first 6B ofa loop.

    Join loops:String 1B and pass throughthe third, fourth, fifth, and sixth B ofthe nearest loop (Fig. 8); repeat

    around to connect all the loops onone side of the bezel. Weavethrough this round again to rein-force, then weave through beads toexit from the first 6B of a loop onthe other side of the bezel.

    Place the cabochon in the bezel with itsback side touching the beadwork justadded. Join the loops on the other sideof the bezel in the same manner, using

    1A instead of 1B for each stitch. As youwork, rotate the cabochon so that themiddle of the faces forehead aligns with1D. Secure the thread and trim.Jump rings:Open 1 jump ring, pass

    through the outside edge of thebezel so that it surrounds 1F at thebottom center of the bezel; closethe jump ring. Attach 1 jump ringaround the 1F at the two oclock

    position and another around the 1Fat the ten oclock position (Fig. 9).

    Back:Use the toothpick to spread athin layer of adhesive across theback of the gear charm. Adhere the

    charm to the back of the cabochon.It should fit perfectly in the centerof the beadwork. Add a thin layer ofadhesive to the flat side of the crys-tal flower; adhere it to the center of

    A R T I S T S T I P S Metal seed beads tend to cut thread, so mind your thread

    tension as you pass through these beads.

    Reinforce your beadwork by weaving through the beads asmany times as the thread holes will allow.

    If you are unable to nd a brad, use a short head pin with alarge decorative head instead to cover the hole of the crystalower.

    Your bicones may scratch your crystal pearls when you popthem into the center of the rings. If this happens, just turn thepearl so the scratches are hidden by the beadwork.

    Heat the copper bead caps with a torch to achieve a patinathat blends nicely with the antiqued brass ndings.

    wire cutters to trim off the bradshead. Glue the head to the center ofthe flower crystal. Set aside to dry.

    3) FINISHING.Complete the neck-lace using simple-loop links:Straps:Use 1" of wire to form a simple

    loop that attaches to one half of theclasp. String one 6mm pearl; form a

    simple loop. Use 2" of wire to form asimple loop that attaches to theother end of the previous link.String 1 bead cap (small end first),1 barrel, and 1 bead cap (wide endfirst); form a simple loop. Use 1" of

    wire to form a simple loop thatattaches to the free end of the previ-ous link. String one 6mm pearl;form a simple loop. Use 2" of wire toform a simple loop that attaches to

    the free end of the previous link.*String 1 bead cap (small end first),1 barrel, and 1 bead cap (wide endfirst); form a simple loop thatattaches to the jump ring of 1 beadedring. Use 2" of wire to form a simpleloop that attaches to the jump ringon the other end of the previousbeaded ring.** Repeat from * to **.String 1 bead cap (small end first),1 barrel, and 1 bead cap (wide endfirst); form a simple loop that

    attaches to the focals ten oclockjump ring.

    Repeat entire step using the otherhalf of the clasp and attaching thefinal loop to the focals two oclock

    jump ring.Dangle:Use the head pin to string one

    1) PENDANT.Embellish the front ofa filigree flower using seed beads andbeading wire:Wire:Fold one 24" piece of beading

    wire in half and use both ends to

    string 1 crimp tube. Slide the tubedown the wire until you have a "loop; crimp the tube. Use theremaining 24" piece of wire to stringthe wire loop; use both ends tostring 1 crimp tube. Slide the tubedown the wire until you reach the

    previous loop; crimp the tube. Placethe crimped loops at the centerback of 1 filigree flower. Weave1 wire end up through each of the4 openings near the center of the

    filigree (Fig. 1).

    Strands:Use 1 wire to string 6D; passdown through the filigree, about" away from the center, and upthrough an adjacent opening in thefiligree, pulling the wire tight.Repeat with the other 3 wires, mir-roring the placement of the firststrand of beads (Fig. 2). Continue inthis manner to embellish the flow-ers front in a symmetrical pattern,

    using A, B, and C beads and increas-ing the number of beads used ineach loop as needed (Fig. 3a). Finish

    with both wires at the back of thefiligree.

    Wire ends:On the back of the filigree,use 1 wire end to string 1 crimp tube;

    pass the end of a second wire backthrough the tube. Manipulate the

    wires so the tube sits at the centerback of the filigree; crimp the tubeand trim the excess wire. Repeat tosecure the 2 remaining wires.

    Connection:Hold the 2 filigrees back toback. Use one 10mm jump ring toconnect the upper-right corners totwo 5mm jump rings. Attach a sec-ond 10mm jump ring to the previ-ous 5mm rings (Fig. 3b). Repeat to

    connect the upper-left corners. Setthe pendant aside.

    2) STRAP.Use 4' of thread to stitch afringe-embellished necklace strap:Base:String 4B, the clasp, and 4B; pass

    through the beads again to form aloop and tie a surgeons knot tosecure. String 1 hex. String {1 trianglebead, 1 hex, 1 triangle, and 1 lentil}fifty-two times, omitting the final len-til. String 1 hex, 8B, and one 10mm

    jump ring on the pendant; pass

    through the 8B againto form a loop. Passback through the lasthex, triangle, and hexbeads strung (Fig. 4).

    Loop 1:String 8D. Passthrough the last hexexited again and thenext 4 beads of thebase, pulling tight toform a loop (Fig. 5).

    Loop 2:Repeat Loop 1using 8B.

    Loop 3:Repeat Loop 1using 8C.

    Loop 4:Repeat Loop 1using 8A.

    1) MEDALLION.Use 3' of thread towork a two-layer circular square-stitched oval:Layer 1, Round 1:String 7A, leaving an

    8" tail. Pass through the sixth andseventh A to form a square stitch(Fig. 1). Work 5 more stitches off

    the first 5A strung, using 1A ineach stitch. String 1A and passthrough the first 6A strung in thissection. String 1A and pass throughthe next 6A added (Fig. 2). Weave

    through all the beads again to rein-force.

    Layer 1, Round 2:Work circular squarestitch using 1A or 2A in each stitchto keep the beadwork flat (Fig. 3).

    Layer 1, Rounds 3 and 4:Work circularsquare stitch using 1B or 2B in eachstitch.

    Repeat entire step to form a secondmatching medallion. Repeat entirestep twice more, using C in place of Ain Layer 1, Rounds 1 and 2; A in placeof C in Layer 1, Rounds 5 and 6; F in

    place of D in Layer 2, Rounds 1 and 2;and D in place of F in Layer 2,Rounds 5 and 6.

    2) BEAD LINKS.Use 2" of wire toform a double-wrapped loop. String1 coin and form a second double-

    wrapped loop. Set aside.Repeat entire step four times for atotal of 5 bead links.

    3) CHAIN-MAIL LINKS.Attach four7mm rings to two 9mm rings. Separatethe 7mm rings so one pair is on eachside of the 9mm rings. Attach two 5mmrings to each pair of 7mm rings (Fig. 7).Set aside.

    mail link to one end of 1 bead link. *Usetwo 4mm rings to attach one end of1 chain-mail link to the other end of the

    toward the inside of the flower andpass through the third A of Row 1(indicated with an X in Fig. 8) along

    the inside back of the flower toattach the flower front to the back,creating a flattened look. Exitthrough the f lowers tube.

    Stamen:String 3D, 1F, one 6mm pearl,and 3E (Fig. 7b); pass back throughthe pearl, 1F, 3D, and the same A atthe flowers back. Weave throughbeads to exit up through the first D

    of Row 18 along the flowers edge(Fig. 7c).

    Picots:String 3D, pass down throughthe next bead along the flowersedge and weave through beads toexit up through the third D juststrung. String 2D, pass downthrough the next bead along theflowers edge, and weave throughbeads to exit up through the secondD just strung (Fig. 9); repeat along

    the front and sides (skipping theplace at the back of the flowerwhere the stem is attached) to addpicots along the top edge of theflower. Secure the thread and trim.

    Repeat the stem, stamen, and picotsections to add the remaining flowersto the second and third sections of Aon the strap.

    and 2 on the strap so the tube nowbegins with the F of Round 3. Usethe tail thread to repeat Round 74,replacing 2G with 2F.

    Eye:Exiting 1F, string 1D, one 6mmpearl, and 19 to 25E, depending on

    clasp-loop size. Passthrough the clasp eyesconnector loop and

    pass back through thepearl. String 1D; skip thenearest F from the lastone exited and pass downthrough the followingone. String 1F, passthrough the pearl and Es,back through the pearl,

    skip the nearest F fromthe last one exited, andpass down throughthe following one(Fig. 10); repeat onceto pull the roundsinto a cone.Secure the tailthread andtrim.

    connection process used for theeye, this time connecting the loopand adding 2 strands of E instead of

    HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR DESIRED FINISHED LENGTH

    The length of the herringbone tubes depends entirely on the desired

    finished length of the necklace. The necklace shown here is 17" long,

    but here is a simple equation for calculating herringbone-stitched rope

    length if you want a slightly shorter or longer necklace:

    1. Subtract 5" (for the center section) plus 2" (for the closure)

    from your final desired length.

    2. Divide this number by two and you will know the proper

    length to make one of the long sections of herringbone that

    lie between the clasp and an outside flower.

    then add a Pacific opal monte and2 sets of picots. Repeat step againtwice to add a total of 9 montes.Weave through beads to exitRound 6 (an A) of the bezel.

    Bezel embellishment:String 1D and passthrough the next A in Round 6 ofthe bezel; repeat around to stitch inthe ditch, embellishing the front of

    the component. Dont trim thethread; set the component aside.

    Repeat entire step three times, addinga base around each of the remainingbezels.

    3) BAIL.Peyote-stitch a bail for eachcomponent:Strip:Use 2' of thread to peyote-stitch

    a strip 3G wide by 32 rows long.Zip:Fold the strip so Row 1 and

    Row 14 interlock like a zipper;weave these beads together to forma small tube at one end of the strip(Fig. 4). Fold the other end of the

    strip so Row 32 meets Row 14;weave these 2 rows together toform a second, slightly larger tube.

    Exit from an edge G.Edging:String 3E, pass down through

    the next G at the edge of the bail,and up through the following G(Fig. 5); repeat to form picots along

    one edge of the bail, then along theother edge. Secure the thread andtrim. Set the bail aside.

    Loops:Weave the thread of 1 bezelcomponent through beads to exit aD in Round 4 of the base between2 purple montes. String 28E, passthrough the larger tube of 1 bail,and pass through the last D exited

    to form a loop. String 28E, passthrough the larger tube of the bail,and through the last B exited to forma second loop (Fig. 6). Secure thethread and trim; set the piece aside.

    Repeat step twice for a total of 3 sin-gle components, this time starting theloops above 1 Pacific opal monte.

    4) DOUBLE COMPONENT.Weavethe thread from the remaining bezelcomponent through beads to exit a Din Round 4 of the base between 2 pur-ple montes. Pass through the D atthe bottom of the first single compo-nent formed in Step 2 (Fig. 7blue

    thread). Pass through the lastD exited. String 3B and pass throughthe last D exited. String 3B and pass

    through the last B exited on the bezelcomponent (Fig. 7red thread). Securethe thread and trim.

    5) CLASP END.Peyote-stitch tubesfor attaching the slide clasp to thenecklace:Strip:Use 2' of thread to peyote-stitch

    a strip 9G wide by 12 rows long.

    Zip:Fold the strip so Row 1 andRow 12 interlock like a zipper;weave these beads together to forma seamless tube. Exit from a B atone end of the tube.

    End:String 1B, 1 purple pearl, and 3B;pass back throughthe pearl to forma picot (Fig. 8blue

    thread). *String 1B,pass down through

    the next G at theend of the tube, upthrough the follow-ing G at the end ofthe tube, throughthe pearl and picot,and back throughthe pearl (Fig. 8red

    thread). Repeat from* to add a total of6B around the endof the tube. Weave

    through the tubebeads to exittoward the beadwork, from a beadin the second column.

    Loops:String 1H, 9E, and one of theloops on the clasp; pass backthrough the H and into a G in thefourth column on the tube so the Hsits between columns. Weavethrough tube beads to exit from thesixth column so the thread is even

    with the last fourth-column Gentered. String 1H and 9E; passthrough the second loop on thesame half of the clasp, pass backthrough the last H strung, and passthrough the nearest eighth-columnG. Weave through the tube beads toexit a B at the plain end of the tube(Fig. 9).

    6) ASSEMBLY.String the components:Strand 1:Fold 5' of new thread to dou-

    ble it. Anchor the thread into one ofthe clasp ends so it exits a G in thethird column opposite from the first

    clasp loop. String 1H. *String {1 tur-quoise pearl and 1B} twenty-fivetimes. String 7B and the upper tubeof a single component; let the tubeslide over the 7B. String {1 turquoise

    pearl and 1B} nine times. String 7Band the upper tube of the doublecomponent; let the tube slide overthe 7B. Repeat from *, reversing thestringing sequence and using theremaining single component. String1H and pass through the third-column B opposite the first loop inthe second clasp half. Make sure all

    components face the same direc-tion and that the clasp is orientedcorrectly when closed. Weavethrough tube beads to exit the Bopposite the second clasp loop.

    Strand 2:*String 1H. String {1 purplepearl and 1B} twenty-four times.String 7B and pass through thelower tube of the nearest singlecomponent. String {1 purple pearland 1B} nine times. String 7B and

    pass through the lower tube of thedouble component. Repeat from *,reversing the stringing sequenceand passing through the remainingsingle component. String 1H and

    pass through the seventh-columnB opposite the second clasp loop ofthe original clasp half. Secure thethread and trim.

    1) FOCAL BEZEL.Stitch a squarebezel for the rivoli, starting with theback side:Round 1:Use 5' of 6 lb thread to string

    4C, leaving a 3" tail. Pass through allthe beads again and tie a knot toform a tight circle. Exit from thefirst C added.

    Round 2:String 2B and pass through

    Pull snug so the beadwork cupsover the bezel; repeat around to

    add a total of 16A and 4D. Securethe thread and trim.

    2) SPACER BARS.Stitch an individ-ual spacer bar:Base:Use 3' of 6 lb thread to form a

    ladder-stitched strip 5C long, leav-ing a 4" tail. Exit from the final C.

    Embellishment:String 1A, 1D, and 1A;pass through the last C exited sothe bead strand sits on the side ofthe final C. String 1A, 1B, and 1A;

    pass through the last C exited andinto the nearest C (Fig. 7). Repeat

    this section to add 2 strands ofbeads to the next C on the base.

    Add one 1A/1D/1A strand to thecenter C. Then add the strands inreverse to the next 2C to end up

    with one 1A/1D/1A strand on theend of the base. Tie the workingand tail thread in a strong knot.Secure the thread and trim. Set thebar aside.

    Repeat entire step thirteen times toform a total of 14 spacer bars.

    3) TOGGLE BAR.Peyote-stitch a tog-gle bar for the clasp:Strip:Add a tension bead 6" from the

    end of 3' of 6 lb thread. Peyote-stitch a strip 10B wide and 10 rowslong.

    Zip:Fold the strip so the beads of thefirst and last rows interlock. Weaveback and forth through these2 rows to zip the strip into a tube.Remove the tension bead, securethe tail thread, and trim.

    Ends:Pass the working thread throughthe tube, exiting out the other end.String one 4mm bicone, 1A, passback through the bicone and thetube, and pull tight; repeat on the

    other end of the tube (Fig. 8). Repeat

    the thread path to reinforce. Securethe thread within the tubes bead-

    work and trim. Set the toggle baraside.

    4) ASSEMBLY.Connect thecomponents:Left side:Start a new 6' length of 8 lb

    thread that exits the second C of aspacer bar, leaving a 10" tail. String 1Eand pass through the second C ofanother bar; repeat to connect 7 spacerbars. String 1E and 2B; pass througha B of Round 2 on the back of thebezel, the nearest C, and the next Bof Round 2.Note:Make sure to string

    the components so the bezel and thespacer bars are all facedown. String 2B.String 1E and pass through the secondC of another spacer bar (Fig. 9); repeatto add the remaining spacer bars.

    Clasp loop:Pass down through the firstC of the final spacer bar and upthrough the second C. Secure the

    strand by tying a half-hitch knotbetween the C beads. String 39B,

    pass down through the fourth C ofthe final spacer bar, up through thefifth C, tie a half-hitch knot betweenthe C beads, and pass downthrough the fourth C (Fig. 10).

    Right side:String 1E and pass throughthe fourth C of the next spacer baralready placed; repeat five moretimes to add a total of 6E. String 1E

    and 2B; pass through the mirror Bof Round 2 on the back of the bezel,the nearest C, and the next B ofRound 2. String 2B. String 1E and

    pass through the fourth C of thenext spacer bar already placed;repeat six more times to connectthe remaining bars. Check thethread tension, making sure theresno slack between the bicones andspacer bars. Tie a half-hitch knot

    between Cs on the first bar tosecure the thread. Exit up throughan end C.

    Toggle:String 2A, pass up through thenext C, down through the last Cexited, and the 2A just strung.String 13B and pass through a B inthe fourth peyote-stitched column

    from one edge of the toggle, awayfrom the center. Weave through thetoggle beads to exit from the third Bfrom the other edge in the samerow, toward the center. String 1Band pass back through the twelfth B

    just added. Work 4 peyote stitchesalong the strand with 1B in eachstitch. Pass through the next B on

    the strand. String 2B and pass upthrough the second C from the lefton the first bar. Pass down throughthe end C, string 2A, and pass upthrough the second C (Fig. 11).

    Repeat the left-side thread path.Exit from the second C added to theclasp loop.

    Loop embellishment:Square-stitch thesecond and thirty-eighth loop beadstogether. Continue square-stitchingto form a stem with 4 pairs of C(Fig. 12green thread). Work 14 circu-lar peyote stitches with 2A in each

    stitch around the circle for a total of28A (Fig. 12blue thread). String 1B;

    pass through the nearest B andthrough the first 2A added in thissection. Work 6 peyote stitches

    with 1B in each stitch, treating the2A from the previous round as1 bead; form 1 decrease, then work6 peyote stitches with 1B in eachstitch to complete the round(Fig. 12red thread). Weave down

    through the right side of the stem.Repeat the thread path for the rightside of the bracelet to reinforce. Se-cure the thread and trim.

    1) ROPE.Work a tubular herring-bone-stitched rope:Round 1:Use 9' of thread to ladder-stitch

    a strip 4B long, leaving a 10" tail.Stitch the first and last beadstogether to form a ring. Repeat theentire thread path again to reinforce.

    Round 2:String 2D, pass down throughthe next bead of the previous

    round, and up throughthe following bead;repeat once. Step up forthe next round by pass-ing through the firstbead added in thisround (Fig. 1).

    Rounds 35:Repeat Round 2 threetimes to add 3 more rounds oftubular herringbone stitch.

    Rounds 6 and 7:Work tubular herring-

    bone stitch with 2C in each stitch,for a total of 2 rounds.Rounds 837:Repeat Rounds 27 five

    times. Repeat the thread path inRound 37 to reinforce.

    Bead:String 1 jasper round and 2C.Pass backthrough the jas-

    per round, downthrough the nextC in Round 37, upthrough the fol-

    jasper round. Repeat this section toadd 2 more strands down the sidesof the jasper round. Weave throughbeads to exit the last C added.

    Center:Work 1 round of tubular her-ringbone stitch with C, 4 rounds

    with D, and 2 rounds with C; repeat

    the final rounds thread path toreinforce. Repeat the bead andstrands sections. Repeat this sec-tion four times so the rope has atotal of 6 jasper rounds.

    Finish rope:Work 1 round of tubularherringbone stitch with C. RepeatRounds 27 five times. Work4 rounds of tubular herringbonestitch with C and 1 round with B.

    2) CLASP.String one4mm round, 7A, andone half of the clasp.Pass back through the4mm round, downthrough the next B atthe end of the rope, andup through the follow-ing B (Fig. 4). Pass upthrough the 4mmround and the 7A, then

    pass back through the

    4mm round, downthrough the next B atthe end of the rope, and up throughthe following B; repeat twice to centerand fully connect the clasp to therope end. Secure the working threadand trim.Use the tail thread to repeat the entirestep at the other end of the rope, at-taching the other clasp half.

    3) PENDANT.Stitch a pendant tohang from the rope:Base:Use 6' of thread to string {3A and

    1 jasper round} four times, leaving a4" tail. Pass through all the beadsagain to form a circle. Exit upthrough a jasper round (Fig. 5).

    Front cross:String 3A, 2D, 1C, 2D, and3A; lay the strand across the circleso it crosses it diagonally and pass

    up through the opposite jasperround (Fig. 6blue thread). String 3Aand 2D. Pass through the C in themiddle of the strand. String 2D and3A; pass up through the jasperround first exited in this step andcontinue through the next 3A andthe following jasper round (Fig. 6red thread).

    of the large beads you are using. You can alwaysstop the cylinder with a size 11 round or evenincorporate some size 8 rounds into your design.Just remember to adjust the bead counts.

    create this pendant inspired by the

    extravagant and elegant Baroque

    period of Italy in the 1700s.

    Round 2, Loops 39:Repeat Loop 2 sevenmore times to form a total of

    9 loops.Round 2, Loop 10:String 1B and 3A; pass

    back through the nearest B of theninth loop. String 3A, 1B, and 3A;

    pass back through the nearest B ofthe first loop. String 3A; pass backthrough the first B added in thisloop and through the next A inRound 1 (Fig. 3blue thread). Weavethrough beads to exit the third B ofLoop 1 (Fig. 3red thread).

    Round 3:String 5A and pass throughthe B at the tip of the next loop;repeat around to add a total of 50A.Exit from the first 5A (Fig. 4blackthread).

    Round 4:String 1A, skip 1B (a loopbead), and pass through the next Afrom Round 3. Continue around intubular peyote stitch with 1A in

    each stitch for a total of 30A. Stepup through the first A added in thisround (Fig. 4green thread).

    Round 5:Work 1 peyote stitch with 1A,then pass through the next 2A fromthe previous round to form adecrease; repeat around to add atotal of 15A. Step up through thefirst A added in this round (Fig. 4orange thread).

    Round 6:Place the 18mm rivoli inside

    the beadwork faceup. Work tubularpeyote stitch with 2B in each stitchfor a total of 30B. Step up throughthe first 2B added in this round(Fig. 4blue thread).

    Round 7:Work tubular peyote stitchwith 1B in each stitch, treating each2B in the previous round as 1 bead,for a total of 15B (Fig. 4red thread).

    Round 8 (optional):If necessary, totighten the rivoli in place, worktubular peyote stitch with 1B ineach stitch for a total of 15B.

    Round 9:Weave through beads to exitthe first A in Round 3. String 3C,skip 3A of Round 3, and passthrough the next A, then string 1D,skip the next B (at the tip of a loop),

    and pass through the following A ofRound 3 (Fig. 5); repeat around to

    embellish the edge of the rivoli.Secure the thread and trim. Set thelarge bezel aside.

    Round 3:String 1B and pass through

    the 2A at the edge of the next loop;repeat around to add a total of 8B(Fig. 7). Step up through the first Badded in this round.

    Round 4:Place a 6mm cabochon in thebeadwork faceup. String 2A and

    pass through the next B of Round 3;repeat around to add a total of 16A,securing the cabochon inside the

    beadwork (Fig. 8). Weave throughbeads to exit from a B in Round 3.

    3) SMALL BEZEL EMBELLISHMENT.Work vertical netting off the edge ofthe small bezel:Loop 1:String 4B, 1D, and 3B; pass

    back through the first B just addedand through the next A in Round 3.

    Loop 2:String 2B and pass backthrough the seventh bead (a B) ofthe previous loop. String 2B, 1D,

    and 5B; pass back through the firstB added in this loop and throughthe next A in Round 3.

    Loop 3:String 3B and pass backthrough the ninth bead (a B) of the

    previous loop. String 3B, 1D, and 6B;pass back through the first B addedin this loop and through the next Ain Round 3 (skipping the B).

    Loop 4:String 3B and pass backthrough the twelfth bead (a B) ofthe previous loop. String 2B, 1D,

    and 4B; pass back through the firstB added in this loop and throughthe next A in Round 3.

    Loop 5:String 2B and pass backthrough the tenth bead (a B) of the

    previous loop. String 1B, 1D, and 3B;pass back through the first B addedin this loop and the previous 2A inRound 3 (Fig. 9).

    Picot:String 1B, 1D, and 1B; pass backthrough the previous A in Round 3

    (Fig. 10). Dont trim the thread; setthe small bezel aside.

    Repeat Steps 2 and 3 three times for atotal of 4 small bezels.

    4) BAIL.Form a bail for hanging thependant:Strip:Weave the working thread of

    1 small bezel through an A in

    Round 3 so the thread exits over thefirst B added in Loop 3, toward theback of the cabochon. Flip the piece

    over and work a strip of odd-countpeyote stitch off the bezel thats 3Awide and 17 rows long or longenough to fit over the rope or chain(Fig. 11).

    Embellish (optional):Exit from an A at theedge of the strip. String 3A, passdown through the next A at theedge of the strip, and pass upthrough the following A; repeatdown both sides of the strip to adda picot edging. Weave through thebeads to exit from the A in the finalrow of the strip.

    Zip:Fold the strip so the final rowtouches Round 1 of the bezel. Worka peyote-stitch thread path to turnthe strip into a loop (Fig. 12). Weave

    through beads to exit Round 2,opposite the bail connection.

    Connect:Stitch the small bezel to a B atthe tip of one of the large bezelsloops, repeating the thread path to

    reinforce (Fig. 13). Secure the bailsthread and trim.

    5) FINISHING.Attach the 3 remain-ing small bezels to the large bezel andto each other by first following Fig. 14s

    blue thread, then following the redthread. Note:Be sure to connect thesmall bezels underneath the large be-zel's embellishment round. Repeat

    the thread paths several times to rein-force. Secure all threads and trim.Slide the bail onto the necklace.

    1) STRAP BEZEL.Stitch a bezel forthe necklace strap:Round 1:Use 3' of waxed thread to

    string 8A, leaving an 8" tail. Tie thebeads into a circle using a doubleoverhand knot and pass throughthe first bead added.

    Round 2, Loop 1:String 1B, 1A, 1B, 4A,1B, and 1A; pass back through the

    first B added in this round andthrough the next

    A in Round 1(Fig. 1blue thread).

    Round 2, Loop 2:String 1B and 1A;

    pass through theeighth bead ofthe previousloop. String 4A,1B, and 1A; pass

    back through the first B added inthis loop and the next A in Round 1(Fig. 1red thread).

    Round 2, Loops 37:Repeat Round 2 fivemore times for a total of 7 loops.

    Round 4:Place 1 cabochon faceup inthe beadwork. Hold it in place while

    working circular peyote stitch with2A in each stitch for a total of 16A.Step up through the top 2A in oneof the Round 2 loops (Fig. 4greenthread).

    Round 5:Work circular peyote stitchwith 2A in each stitch between eachtop 2A from the loops in Round 2 toadd a total of 16A. Step up through

    the first 2A added in this round(Fig. 4blue thread).Note:This roundwill be outside of Round 4.

    Round 6:String 3D, pass through thenext 2A of Round 5, through the fol-lowing 2A of Round 2, and the next2A of Round 5; repeat three times toadd a total of 4 picots (12D)(Fig. 4red thread). Secure the threadand trim. Set aside.

    Repeat entire step nine times for atotal of 10 strap bezels. Set the bezelsaside.

    2) CLASP BUTTON.Stitch the buttonend of the clasp:Connecting bezel:Use 4' of waxed thread

    to repeat Rounds 14 of Step 1.Repeat Round 5, this time only add-ing 6 two-drop peyote stitches for atotal of 12A. Weave through beads

    to exit the first 2A. Repeat Round 6,this time only adding 3 picots for atotal of 9D. Exit from the nearest 2Ain Round 2 (Fig. 5blue thread).

    Strip:String 1A and pass through thenext A of Round 2. String 1A and

    pass through the next B of Round 3.

    String 1A and pass back through thelast A added (Fig. 5red thread). String1A and pass through the first A
