Benkadi Benefit Saturday, November 12th doors open at 6:30pm Hosted at the Round Lake Beach Cultural & Civic Center Off of Hook Drive & 83 An Evening of Traditional West African Drumming Performances Come join us for a night of music & dance! No Cover Charge/ Donations accepted Snacks provided (rice & sauce and more) Motherland Rhythm Community’s BENKADI PROJECT is a 501c3 non-profit organization which aids the people in Guinea, West Africa and offers programs in the US. Benefit is to continue our efforts to make Biosand Water Filters - one filter which we make out of cement, sand and rock provides clean water for a family of 10 for more than 10 years! Universal Nut Sheller - one unit can support the peanut shelling needs of 2,000 people for an estimated 25 years. We continue to offer them to villages. Past projects have included the following.... Building a school house Taking the village from 1 well to 4 wells Repairing wells in villages Assisting an elderly women’s garden Building a youth center Distribution of self contained solar lights Providing emergency medical and food assistance Educational support for youth www.MotherlandRhythm.org www.MedusaDrums.com “To live together is very good!” Performers include..... MC David Gueringer Wassa Wassa!” Lake Forest College’s West African Drumming Ensemble Diamana Diya means “Make good music for the land!” which is what this dynamic percussion ensemble does! The group is made up of American Women who have studied traditional music and songs from Guinea, West Africa. Nate Rhodes on Cello Poet Ash DJ Trill Brew will spin for us at the end of the evening so be ready to Dance!
