WHAT AN EDUCATION WEEK Belrose Public School is a remarkable school and last Thursday we were able to share our learning with our family visitors, the Mayor of Northern Beaches, Michael Regan and fellow teaching colleagues from nearby schools. It was a very rewarding week to be part of. Along with a professionally dynamic staff we have proceeded on a transformational pedagogical journey to further engage our students. The integrated teaching/learning class programs have enabled stu-dents to deepen their understanding and knowledge of required con-tent areas of our syllabus, but more importantly in the higher order thinking areas. Our K-4 classrooms had many excited students as they shared their work with a keen audience. There was much discussion about our Years 3 and 4 Science work on bees and pollination and within the K-2 classrooms the sharing of literacy and numeracy work and activities. Thank you to our enthusiastic teachers. Our Year 5 and 6 classrooms unveiled effective innovative classroom practices which have increased student engagement, creativity, critical thinking and problematic knowledge. Classroom practice, although traditionally delivered with just teacher talk at times, has transformed into students having ownership of their learning and being given time to ‘think’ and delve deeper into the direction of their learning. Each Stage 3 group preparation developed our students’ skills of collaboration and team work and how exciting to share their work with a purpose and a real audience. Thank you to our exceptional staff of Mr Davidson, Mrs Meikle and Mrs Stephens and to all of our hardworking, engaged and motivated students. Parents may still continue to use the ‘Seesaw’ depository of the stu-dents’ learning in Years 3-6. This worthwhile program will be extended in 2020 to all K-2 classes and students.

FATHER’S DAY BREAKFAST-THURSDAY 29 AUGUST It has come to my attention that there are complaints on the Facebook page that the Father’s Day Breakfast has been changed. As our school relies on the organisers of this event within the P&C to be all available from their fulltime jobs, the Thursday 29 August is now the NEW date. If parents are unable to make it this year, come along in 2020. The use of the Facebook page is for the sharing of school related information. It was not established as a means for people to vent and complain. NAIDOC DAY Today, the students have been immersed in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural day. Thank you to Mrs Stephens and Mrs Iwakura for organising the activities for the day as well as the poetry and colouring-in competition. CONGRATULATIONS ATHLETES Our Belrose PS team were a pleasure to take to the Zone Athletics Carnival. STAGE 3 CAMP Next week, our Stage 3 teachers and their students as well as Mrs Adamo and Miss Jarvis will be travelling to Canberra and the snow for their three day camp. Congratulations to Will C (11 Years Boys champion), Will K (Junior Boys champion) and Sofia E (Junior Girls champion). This is an outstanding achievement! It was my absolute pleasure to accompany 16 students to the Woolworth's Cricket Blast School Cup on the past Tuesday. Both teams played exceptionally well. Belrose demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, team work and pride. The boys ended up com-ing 6th and the girls taking out 1st place. A big thank you to Charli M, Sarah W, Ben J and Lachlan C for entering the dance competition. Well done to Matt D and Olivia D for representing Belrose in the high ball catching competition. Finally, a massive thank you to the parents for dropping students to and from the venue as well as the wonderful support on the day. Thank you. Miss Campey-Jarvis
