PAYMent MetHodSBAnk drAFt: Bank draft is an automatic monthly withdrawal from your checking, savings, or Credit Card account. We will need to scan a check or card for the firstmonth’s payment to begin. This plan is perpetual, which means once started it runs continuously until you decide to stop. To terminate or change a Bank Draft membership see the Cancellation Policy below. There is a $25 NSF fee added to accounts where payment is returned.

Informing the Y of your cancellation rather than simply stopping payment will keep your record accurate and prevent NSF fees from being added to your membership record unnecessarily.

All StAr CHeerwHY All StArS?Competitive Cheerleading builds athletic skills inadditiontoconfidence,self-esteem&teambuilding skills, which can be used for life! All Star season begins in May with practices and competition season runs November – March.

wHAt Are PlACeMentS?To join the squad, individuals must attend placements in May and will then be ‘placed’ on a squad based upon their age and ability. Depending on age, each participant will be evaluated on the following: jumps, stunting and tumbling (from a forward roll to advanced tumbling if they are able to do so. This is NOT a requirement) along with positivity and enthusiasm. Cheerleaders do not have to have any prior experience! The possible occasion where an individual may not get teamed is if we do not have enough girls to form a full team or if there are disciplinary issues during placement.

Placements for the 2020-2021 season will take place during the week of May 18-24. Please watch the Burlington Area yMCA facebook Page for details.

The Burlington Area YMCA Domestic Violence Shelter and Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) began a new partnership on February 1st. The partnership with DVIP has allowed the YMCA Domestic Violence Shelter to expand beyond emergency shelter housing services and add transitional housing for domestic violence victims. This partnership has improved the level of service provided to our community.

DVIPisastatecertifiedorganizationthatcurrentlyhasanofficeatAppleTreeMuseumat1616Dill St. in Burlington. DVIP provides comprehensive services for adult and youth victims of domestic violence, dating violence, stalking and human trafficking. Services include a 24 hour hotline, emergency sheltering, advocacy and trauma-informed support care.

The YMCA Domestic Violence Shelter has existed in Burlington since 1982 and primarily serves Des Moines, Henry, Louisa and Lee counties. In 2014, a statewide regionalization of services resulted in a loss of State and Federal grants that had been the primary source of funding for the YMCA Shelter program. Since that time, the YMCA has been working to ensure a continued offering of shelter and emergency services would remain available to our community, despite the lack of funding. We believe that this partnership with DVIP will not only allow the YMCA to continue offering much needed emergency services, but will also afford the opportunity for improvement due to the level of experience that DVIP brings to the partnership. We are very thankful for the partnership with DVIP and look forward to the days ahead.
