兩項精彩絕倫的節目，以誌其慶。其中一項是由首次訪港的愛沙尼
亞國家芭蕾舞團演出的開幕節目《白雪公主與七個小矮人》；另一
項是大型雜技盛會《一品一三絕》，由享負盛名的中國雜技團，把
中國傳統雜技的精粹發揮得淋漓盡致。
今年，我們很高興邀請到32個海外、內地和本地的傑出藝團，為大家精心炮製多項饒富趣味的演出，當中包括專為兩歲至四歲小寶寶

MessageThe International Arts Carnival presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department offers an exciting array of educational and entertaining arts and cultural programmes for children, youngsters and families in Hong Kong every year during the summer.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The Carnival has selected two exhilarating programmes to commemorate this special occasion. They are the opening programme Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Hong Kong debut of the ballet spectacular by the Estonian National Ballet, and the acrobatic extravaganza Splendid by the renowned China National Acrobatic Troupe showcasing the wonderful feats of traditional Chinese acrobatic art.
This year’s Carnival will feature a rich variety of fun-filled performances by 32 outstanding overseas, Mainland and local arts groups. They include the theatrical work White, tailor-made for toddlers between two and four years of age, and the multimedia show Brothers of War which combines the art of sand paintings with martial arts, dance and Chinese music. The new Eco-Friend series is another highlight. Through inspirational shows such as The Sound of Bamboo Music, a green concert, and Harmony, a large-scale multimedia puppet theatre, it aims to raise children’s awareness of green living and environmental protection.
As in the past, the Carnival will provide a diverse range of extension activities including school and outreach programmes, workshops, exhibitions and outdoor carnivals to bring the joy of arts to all sectors of the community.
I sincerely invite you and your family to join in the fun and to experience some of the delights on offer during the seven-week long Carnival.

笛奏龍吟水，簫鳴鳳下空 - 李白
竹樂奏出的中華樂音千古流傳，今天，北京竹樂團以全新的面貌為「國際綜藝合家
歡」獻上獨特新穎、高雅時尚的竹樂晚會。
北京竹樂團是經過二十多年的艱苦努力，從江南青山採來翠竹，自己動手，發明製
作了一批新型樂器，組成中國歷史上第一支全部樂器均為竹製的竹樂團，其演奏
方法新奇，音色優美，趣味性強，有豐富的表現力，這在世界上也是唯一的。
竹樂團以其鮮明的特點和高水準而受到普遍關注，被譽為中國唯一的綠色樂
團。成員全部由優秀音樂工作者組成，多數為青春亮麗的樂壇新秀，大多數
成員具有高級職稱或碩士以上學歷，演出受到觀眾的熱情歡迎和讚譽。
樂團藉著竹樂器演奏的中外名曲，給各位朋友們帶來中華音樂藝術的新發
展，帶來悅耳動聽的音響，帶來環保綠色理念，再加上喜悅和歡樂。

Chinese bamboo music has a history of thousands of years. In a contemporary fashion, the Beijing Green Bamboo Orchestra brings you a concert distinguished by elegant taste and novelty at the International Arts Carnival.
After spending more than two decades inventing musical instruments using green bamboo from the mountains of Jiangnan area, the first bamboo orchestra in China – Beijing Green Bamboo Orchestra is established. The instruments are all handmade of bamboo, and many are played in an innovative way. The music thus created is lilting, charming, imaginative and expressive. The orchestral voice is therefore unique in the world.
Acclaimed as the only “green orchestra” in China, its distinctive elements and high standard of performance have garnered a lot of attention. Its members are all talented musicians, many of whom are young budding artists in music with high academic qualifications, such as holders of Master’s degrees, whose performances are widely applauded.
In the concert, the orchestra will perform, with bamboo instruments, well-known tunes from around the world. It will be an indication of the latest developments in Chinese music as an art form, an endorsement of the eco-concept, and through its appealing sounds, a musical experience of happiness and joy.

北京竹樂團利用多種自行研製、奇特有趣的環保竹樂器，為觀眾帶來清新的音樂體驗。除了較常見
的笛、管、簫、笙外，還有富於生活氣息的蒸籠、竹碗，以及多種令人耳界大開的特色樂器，例如
外形獨特的拍筒琴、以擊掌演奏的格隆布、經高溫燒製而成的竹炭琴、獨弦琴及竹鼓等。不但聲音
柔美動聽，亦蘊含濃厚的歷史及文化色彩。
竹樂器音色質樸自然，能奏出宛如鳥叫、蟬鳴、雷聲、雨聲等「天然」之聲。今次演奏會以愛護大
自然為主題，選演多首來自世界各地的兒歌及民謠，以純粹的竹製樂器及清新的綠色樂音，與大自
然遙相呼應，帶你走進青翠竹林，樂在其中。
The Beijing Green Bamboo Orchestra brings a refreshing musical experience with bamboo instruments that cover not only the usual flute, guan, xiao and sheng, but also unique-looking and eco-friendly instruments such as bamboo steamers and bowls straight from the Chinese kitchen, the bazooka-shaped Paitongqin, the K’longput that is played by clapping hands, the dazzling bamboo charcoal xylophone made through high temperature heating, the single-stringed Dan Bau and the bamboo drum. They produce mellifluous and charming sound, and at the same time have exceptional historical and cultural values.
Bamboo instruments have a natural timbre; can imitate “the sounds of Nature” such as birdsong, cicada’s song, thunder and rain, etc. In this “ear-opening” environmental concert, the musicians perform a series of international folk and children’s songs, conjuring up a serene scene for the audience, as if performing within the depths of a bamboo forest.

北京竹樂團Beijing Green Bamboo Orchestra
北京竹樂團是中國歷史上第一支竹樂團，亦被譽為國家唯一的綠色樂團。團隊擁有多種竹子製成的
樂器，部分更是樂團獨家發明研製出來，獲多項國家專利。這些樂器演奏方法新奇有趣，有豐富的
表現力，而且很多都是世上獨一無二的。
樂團成員主要由技藝高超的演奏家及青春的樂壇新秀組成，曾多次參加電視台及電台的大型演出，
亦有為大使館及大學等舉辦專場音樂會。2010年，樂團於上海世博會演出，受到廣泛讚譽。另一方面，樂團積極推出竹樂專輯，其中《竹吟》及《竹花花》均獲中國唱片金碟獎，亦發表論文及出
版竹樂器專著書籍等，推廣宣揚環保的竹樂文化。
Beijing Green Bamboo Orchestra is the first ever bamboo music ensemble in China, and has been acclaimed as the only “green ensemble” in the country. It uses a wide array of instruments that are all made of bamboo. Many were developed and designed by the ensemble itself and have been patented in China. Unique, fun to play and innovatively conceived, they are capable of producing a rich variety of expressive sounds.
The group is made up of both seasoned virtuosi and emerging talents in music, who often perform on television and radio, as well as in concerts held in embassies and universities. Their performance at Expo 2010 Shanghai has won popular acclaim. The orchestra has released a number of recordings on bamboo music, two of which have won the China Golden Disc Awards. It has also published articles and books specialised in bamboo instruments to promote the green concept behind bamboo music.
樂團始創人及團長 王巍Founder and Artistic Director Wang Wei
樂團始創人及團長王巍，多年來致力於竹樂文化事業，親自動手發明及製作多項獲國家專利的竹樂
器，並出版世界第一部竹樂器的專書《竹樂器的世界》。身兼中國音樂家協會會員、中國打擊樂學
會理事、中國環境文化促進會理事及中國竹子博物館顧問等多職，曾獲2002年於美國舉行的國際竹藝術比賽榮譽獎。
Wang Wei, the Founder and Artistic Director of the Orchestra, has been dedicated to promoting the culture of bamboo music for many years. He has invented and created numerous bamboo instruments that have been patented in China. He is also the author of the world’s first book on the genre of bamboo music. Wang is a member of the Chinese Musicians’ Association; an Executive Committee Member of the Percussion Society under the auspices of the Chinese Musicians’ Association, the China Environmental Culture Promotion Association, and the adviser of the China Bamboo Museum. He was awarded as Honourable Mention in the American Bamboo Society’s Art and Crafts Competition in 2002.

精選竹樂器介紹Selected Bamboo Musical Instruments
格隆布 K’longput格隆布原於越南中部的高原少數民族，由音高不同的大小竹筒水
平排列而成。它的特別之處在於以雙手擊掌時所產生的氣流衝擊
來演奏，這是世上獨有的。傳說中格隆布是稻穀女神的樂器，每
當稻米豐收，新年節慶時就會響起它通透圓潤的樂聲了。
K’longput is a unique instrument native to the mountain region of central Vietnam. It consists of a series of horizontal bamboo pipes. Each of them has a different length, which determines its pitch, and needs the musician to cup both hands and claps quietly to its side to play, generating full and transparent sounds. K’longput is believed to be an instrument of the goddess of Mother Rice, and will be played at specific festivities and New Year to celebrate a good harvest.
安格隆 Angklung安格隆在東南亞國家非常流行，是富有民族特色的竹製體鳴樂器。
它們結構簡單，每個只發一個音，所以演奏一曲一般需要整個樂
隊互相配合，利用不同大小的安格隆一同演奏。最小的安格隆只
有手掌般大，聲音清脆明亮，易學而且有趣。
Angklung is a traditional percussion instrument in various Southeast Asian countries. It is made of only a few pieces of bamboo, and can produce a crispy sound when shaken. In an ensemble, Angklung of different sizes are needed in order to play a song, as each of them can only produce a single pitch. The smallest ones have only the size of a single hand! The instrument is easy to learn and very interesting to play, especially when we play with our friends!
獨弦琴 Dan Bau獨弦琴是京族樂器，流行於越南和中國廣西一帶，因只有一根弦
而得名，是極富代表性的民族樂器。獨弦琴主要包括琴身及搖杆
兩部分，以琴弦的振動發聲。演奏者透過切弦和操控搖杆，便可
奏出自然流暢、變幻多樣的樂韻。微小的樂音，音色清澈但委婉
纏綿，優美動聽。
Dan Bau is a representative instrument of the Jing ethnic group who lives in Vietnam and Guangxi in China. It is made up of two main parts, a sound board and a flexible rod, and has only one string, which its vibrations give off the sounds. The performer can deliver a range of tones through a technique called “cutting the string” and controlling the rod. Dan Bau has a small volume but produces clear notes with a touching, lilting quality.

口笛 Koudi (Mouth flute)世上最小的笛子之一，最短的高音口笛長度只有約五厘米，可以
藏於掌心。竹管中間的是吹孔，用手指控制竹管兩端的音孔，通
過開合各孔時控制角度和氣息的變化，便可改變音色。口笛的聲
音明亮清澈，穿透力強，可用來模仿鳥兒的鳴叫，最適合吹奏明
亮歡快的活潑樂曲。
Koudi is one of the smallest flutes in the world, the shortest one is only about 5cm in length, so short that it can be hidden inside a human hand! It has a blow hole in the middle, while the two ends are used as thumb holes. By varying the angle of the openings and changing the breathing pattern, different tones can be produced. Koudi has a brilliant, limpid quality that penetrates well. It can imitate the birds’ trill vividly, and is suitable for performing lively, light-hearted tunes.

Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world, some species can grow more than 40cm per day. Some of the largest bamboo can grow over 35 to 40 metres tall, and as large as 20cm in diameter. New shoots in early spring can be fully grown within several months and be harvested in the summer.

貴州的蘆笙節、於沙巴舉行的竹樂節，以及瑞士阿羅薩排簫節等。
Many countries have festivals named with bamboo instruments, such as the Las Piñas Bamboo Organ Festival in the Philippines, the traditional Lusheng Festival of the Miao people in China’s Guizhou Province, the Bamboo Music Festival in Tamparuli, Sabah and the Arosa Panflute Festival in Switzerland, etc.

The largest playable flute in the Guinness World Records and the smallest koudi are both made of bamboo. The largest flute is more than 300 times the length of the smallest koudi!
