BeeSmart Phonics [K.1-K.3]

課程背景理論

2 歲至 6 歲的孩子正值腦部迅速發育時期，能吸收大量知識，遠超我們的想像！此 Phonics 課程除了

教授 Phonics 外，還旨在增加小朋友的「記憶詞彙」(mental lexicon)。課堂中會加入「導讀訓練」

(guided reading)，當小朋友見過這些生字後(noticing)，便會把它們儲存在記憶中(storing)。未來

再遇到這些字時，便可輕鬆從記憶庫中取出來(retrieving)。久而久之，小朋友在「識讀識拼」這些

英文詞彙之餘，亦能「識解」。這套由語言學者及專家提出的"noticing-storing-retrieving"的字詞學

習理論正是我們 BeeSmart 的教學依歸，比坊間只教拼音讀字的教學模式有效得多。

教授單音及基礎拼音技巧“consonants”及“vowels”

Phonics II：

教授“long vowels”, “digraph”, “consonant clusters”及複音，讓孩子閱讀時更有信心

課程特色

- 老師會於上課前評估小朋友的英語能力，並按程度進行分班 (所有評估需上課前預約)

- 課堂中會讓小朋友學習發音(phonics)之餘，同時學生字(vocabulary)，透過恆久的練習令小朋

友慢慢掌握 Native English Speakers 的發音及抑揚方式。

- 課後老師會向家長講解子女的學習內容，方便回家進行課後重溫。

課程相關資料

- 課程將教授生字的基本發音、拼讀（blending），令孩子掌握連字成句的能力。

- 通過英文故事，孩子可以接觸更多生字，在語境中掌握生字的串法、意義及運用。

- 導讀訓練可以從小培養孩子的閱讀技巧，令孩子在回答導師提問的過程中提高理解與表達能力。

A lot of children in Hong Kong find spelling very puzzling and frustrating. This is because

spelling skills are often not included in any traditional English language syllabus. Instead,

children are often asked to spell words through copying and repeating.

The „I can spell‟ vocabulary enhancing course is designed to help children learn essential

spelling strategies, rules and patterns that can be applied into spelling most English words.

課程目的：

- 現今直資及國際學校已傾向用故事書取代傳統教科書教學

- 學生要學懂故事書上的詞彙，理解故事情節及回答延伸之問題

課程目標：

- 導師於課堂前為孩子評估合適讀物程度

- 課堂透過故事情節增加孩子詞彙、日常對答、教授正確文法、句子結構及寫作技巧

- 課堂用全英語進行，増加孩子對英語說聽的訓練

- 所有讀物由導師精心挑選，合乎學校及孩子閱讀程度

A new trend of learning English Language – the way it should be.

Many schools in Hong Kong, like St. Paul Co-ed and La-Salle Primary school are shifting

from traditional English textbooks to story books when designing their English language

curriculums. The reason behind such trend is the fact that a lot of children are struggling to

apply their textbook knowledge to English situations. Studies have shown that the most

effective way for children to learn grammar, sentence structure and vocabularies is

through reading and comprehending them in books.

Therefore, we have designed a very thorough literacy program for early readers, “I can

read”. We have hand-selected a series of predictable and engaging literacies according

to the Australian RR-reading level charts to help emergent your children into reading. We

will explore different genres with your kids, the book list includes relatable fictions,

non-fictions about science and animals, classics and biographies.

Why is it important for children to read?

1. Reading expands a child‟s vocabulary.

2. Stronger comprehension (You can‟t comprehend what you can‟t read)

3. Early reading skills directly relates to a child‟s future academic success.

4. Stories stimulate imagination and provoke curiosity and discussion

Grammar is very important when it comes to expressing ourselves in English. Without the

correct use of grammar and syntax, it is almost impossible to write fluently. Although a lot of

children in Hong Kong are exposed to grammar and grammar practices very early on in

their academic lives, they often struggle with writing fluently when they get to upper

primary. So, it is vitally important that they understand all the important grammatical rules
