It was the gospel group ‘Mary Mary’
who sang, “Take the shackles off my
feet so I can dance..”
Production 2016Broken Shackles
The message was communicated
creatively through art forms such
as dance, song, human video, mime
and drama. The cast and crew
laboured unremittingly to ensure that
the night went well and that the
transitions were seamless. Despite
minor glitches, the night was still a
success and we were able to entertain
and minister to the audience that came
out to support the ministry.
This year, the National Tertiary
Students’ Ministry’s annual production
was held under the theme; ‘Broken
Shackles’ on February 19, 2016 at the
Escarpment Road New Testament
Road Church of God commencing 7pm.
The production highlighted the power of
God to redeem, save, restore and His
ability release the chains that the enemy
uses to entangle God’s people in sin
and bondage. It was a demonstration of
mercy and grace extended to those who
will only believe and accept Him.

On Sunday February 21, 2016 at 10am, we gathered at the UWI Chapel for another
tertiary students’ service. The topic for the day was, ‘Thy will be done’.
Chapel Service
Stephanie Cotterell, the Eastern Regional Chairperson
moderated the day’s proceedings. One focus of the day was
prayer and so two intercessory prayers were done by Charrise
Robinson and Melicha Smith. Fancia Samuels shared her
The expressive ministry did a sign language piece to Tasha
Cobb’s ‘Fill me up God’ and Melissa Williams, an international
student also danced.
The charges were given by Ja’wayne Jarrett and Jermaine
Lawrence who blessed our hearts with the Word of God,
respectively.
A few points from the messages were:
1. The will of God brought men from a place of nothing to something;
2. The will of God is developed around you so that you can be blessed;
3. The will of God calls mighty men to ministry;
4. The Word of God will achieve that which it was sent out to do;
5. The will of God is filled with many defeats on the way to victory;
6. The will of God is multifunctioning it secures your soul.
The will of God is oftentimes something that we all struggle with accepting but, we
were reminded that the will of the Lord is what is best for us. If we only yield, we
would experience the move of God in our lives in great and mighty ways.

Week of Prayer 2016
Without prayer, the challenges of the Christian journey would be insurmountable. It
is on this foundational truth that the Ministry saw it necessary through the
intercessory coordinator and the prayer committee to dedicate one week to seeking
the Lord through prayer. The week of prayer commenced on Sunday, February 7,
2016 and ended on Saturday February 13, 2016.
The church was one you could consider a ‘country church’ owing to its location and
worship style. We clapped, sang and had a wonderful time in the presence of God
amongst the church brethren. Rev. Bulgin, the Pastor of the church, delivered the
Word entitled ‘Try Again’ from Luke 5:111. It was a
To begin the week of prayer, a group of us journeyed all
the way to Clarendon to the Palmer’s Cross New
Testament Church of God for the church visit. We arrived
in time to share in their Sunday School which we
enjoyed. For the service, we were seated in a specially
reserved area where we could enjoy the service as a group. Arone Mullings,
President of the National Tertiary Students’ Ministry gave a testimony and Jermaine
Lawrence, Coordinator for the ministry gave an overview of the ministry.
fitting topic for us to be present to hear that Word which
was tailored for students and graduates who were in the
midst. We were encouraged that failure is not fatal but, is
a prelude to success. He mentioned Peter, James and
John who were in Jesus’ inner circle yet failed in the valley of human suffering. He
stated that sometimes God will allow us to fail at what we do just so that we can
trust Him. Lastly, we were instructed to be totally dependent on God in spite of how
anointed or gifted we believe we are. He is our true success.
After the service, we were refreshed with cooked meals
and a refreshing drink. Thereafter, we departed.

Y 3 Jesus instructed us to “Go ye therefore and teach all nations…”(Matt 28:19) and so
this day we took the time to evangelise on the campuses in an effort to share the
gospel of Jesus with those we encountered.

the day between the hours of 6am and 6pm.

The Annual National Tertiary Students’ Ministry AllNight Prayer Meeting was held
under the theme: “Rebuilding the Altar; Bring your Sacrifice” on February 12, 2016
commencing at approximately 10pm at the Old Library, UWI Mona. This was the
last event for the Week of Prayer.
The Moderator, Kareem Morris started the night’s proceeding by welcoming the
presence of God in our midst through prayer and prophetic declarations.
Throughout the night, praise and worship sessions were conducted by different
teams from the various campuses including the NTSM worship team. While others
came and left, there were some faithful few who tarried the entire night through to
morning. We were kept refreshed and revived by sandwiches and hot beverages
that were provided.
The dedicated few maximized on the night and actualized the portion of scripture,
“...pray without ceasing…” (1 Thessalonians 5:16). The presence of the Lord was
evident amongst us and the atmosphere was rich with His presence. It was
palpable and undeniable.
The Word was brought to us by the Rev. Michael Bradley who delivered under the
anointing of the Holy Spirit. He also moved in the prophetic as the Lord inspired
Him. Hearts were blessed, Spirits were revived, lives were challenged by the Word
and without a doubt, sacrifices were offered upon the altar.

The final session was dubbed ‘prophetic worship’ through which we sought to
express the thoughts and heart of God to His people through worship. We voiced
powerful declarations which sealed the night’s activities. It was truly a refreshing
time in the presence of the Lord.
