A big welcome back for 2021!
It is with much excitement and anticipation that we begin a fabulous year of learning ahead in 2021. I hope everyone had
an amazing summer holiday break, enjoying time with loved ones, celebrating, relaxing and recharging for Term 1. Myself,
I was able to spend quality time with family both in the bush and by the ocean—we are very lucky to live in such a diverse
and beautiful country. A memorable moment was watching my daughter take her first steps early in the break, to being a
regular walker by the end!
Our first day back with Years 1-6 last Friday was a wonderful beginning to the year and I want to comment on the
exceptional wearing of uniforms, right across all grades—keep it up.
We have a busy beginning to Term 1 2020 and I will be publishing some key dates that everyone will need to pencil into
their diaries. We are also navigating frequent changes with guidelines and restrictions due to Covid-19, this is an ever-
evolving situation and we will continue to communicate updated information whenever necessary. For all of the latest
guidelines please follow this link https://education.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/advice-for-families.
Important guideline information:
“Parents and carers for Preschool, Kindergarten and Years 1, 2 and 7 students will be allowed on the school site to drop off
their children at their classes on the first few days of schools provided they follow physical distancing…”
Please employ ‘kiss and drop’ to minimise unnecessary gathering.
In Week 4, we will be introducing our parent information sessions. Which will be 45 minute sessions hosted over two
evenings. Each classroom teacher will host the session in their classrooms and it will be a great opportunity to meet your
child’s new teacher as well as receive any information both general and specific for their Year/Stage group.
It was great to see all of our new Kinder students settling into their new classes for 2021. It was really exciting to see them
in their uniforms and seeing how much they’ve grown over the holiday break, since we last met them at our Orientation
Days. I am looking forward to watching them learn and grow at our amazing school.
An update on staffing, I am currently fulfilling a Relieving Principal position here at CTPS and I’m contracted till the end of
Term 1. I am unsure of the outcome of the
position for the remainder of the year, but will update as we become informed on the situation.
I am looking forward to a strong start for a great year ahead for all at Clarence Town Public. Thank you to all of our staff
their commitment in the holiday break—we have such a dedicated an awesome team here at our school.

Welcome to Week 6!
This week, we have a Tuesday edition of the Newsletter. Week 5 proved to be a busy and exciting week for students and
staff at CTPS.
We are very excited to announce that we will be able to have families back on site for our fortnightly assemblies, beginning
this Friday. The assembly is scheduled to begin at 2:15pm, all guests will have to sign in at the desk outside the hall, scan in
with the QR code and practice physical distancing at all times. Chairs will be set up and placed to support this, please do
not move chairs around. We have a limit of 50 guests at this time.
Special Religious Education (SRE) will be starting this Thursday for the 2021 year. Classes will participate in half-hour
lessons in their classrooms. Clarence Town Presbyterian Church are the providers of our SRE program, led by Leanne
Welch. We are lucky to have a dedicated and enthusiastic group of volunteers supporting the program. SRE in NSW public
schools is not compulsory, if you wish for your child not to participate and have not already expressed this interest, please
send a note into the school.
We have some great efforts to be recognised in the sporting arena at Clarence Town, congratulations to Jentsen, Ewan,
Nixon and Riley S who all trialled at Zone Cricket. Well done, to Jentsen, who was successful in making it through to the
Hunter Regional Trials this Friday—Good luck, Jentsen.
We also have two students, Mark B and Darcy B, who are both travelling to Newcastle to compete at the Hunter Regional
Swimming trials. It’s a great achievement to be making it this far and I know both boys will represent to a high-standard—
Good luck, Mark and Darcy!
School attendance is vital for student learning success. On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school.
Justified reasons for student absences may include being sick, or having an infectious disease, having an unavoidable
medical appointment, being required to attend a recognised religious holiday, exceptional or urgent family circumstance
e.g. attending a funeral. Regular school attendance is very important, just one or two days, here and there, all add up!
Have a great week everyone,
Mr Lindsell
