Product Mission

The BD 17/6 was designed and developed to be a world class, compact automatic scrubber providingsuperior scrubbing power, incredible water recovery, whisper quite operation and powered by sealed, maintenance - free batteries. This industry leading, compact scrubber prevents the “tripping” hazard and cord management issues that come with a corded electric unit. The BD 17/6 is also safe for a variety of hard floor types and noise sensitive areas.

With a squeegee blade situated just one (1) inch behind the brush, the BD 17/6 recovers an incred-ible amount of solution, even on tight turns. The squeegee assembly will rotate 1800 to the left or right, thus allowing pick up when the unit is pulled backwards. In addition, the unit can be fitted with a variety of either disc pads or brushes. This versatility allows the operator to meet the challenge of cleaning a majority of different hard floor types with a single unit.

The BD 17/6 incorporates all of the functions of a large, walk-behind automatic scrubber in a maneu-verable and compact design. Many of the distinctive features of the BD 17/6 give managers options and flexibility to use the machines for multiple cleaning applications. These machines are effective for daily floor maintenance as well as more aggressive scrubbing applications.

Target Market

In-house facility managers and building service contractors will appreciate the features of Tornado’s BD 17/6 compact automatic scrubber, designed for daily or more aggressive cleaning. This unit is per-fect for the following environments:• health care environments where elevated sanitation, noise and environmental standards must be achieved;• schools and universities where clean environments mean improved test scores;• retail or hotel settings where round-the-clock clean, dry floors, and aisles signify safety and

continued business success;• BSCs who must deliver maximum cleaning performance and speed, while reducing the total cost

of cleaning.

Tornado Industries, Inc. is committed to creating a clean, safe and healthy workplace environmentthrough the use of innovative cleaning technology developed to minimize the impact of cleaning on in-door and outdoor environments. At Tornado, we care deeply about our planet and realize the cleaningindustry is in a position to make positive and profound contributions to the environment, ensuring thatour children and our children’s children inherit a sustainable and healthy planet. That’s why we carefully design our machines to deliver not only the latest innovation, but also green features to enhance indoorair quality (IAQ), use less water and chemicals, create less noise, and produce less moisture. Tornadoembraces the following ecological and corporate values through green and healthy practices:

1. Water conservation: Our products, such as our carpet extractors, deliver adjustable solution controlfor safe, healthy and fast-drying floors that eliminate mold and mildew. Our cylindrical brush floor ma-chines use 30% less water. The design of cylindrical brush machines minimizes splashing and overspray by containing water within the machine housing. Cylindrical brush machines have six times thecontact pressure of a conventional rotary brush machine, which not only helps reduce water usage, butalso improves worker productivity and reduces labor costs.

2. Less chemicals: Due to recent green legislation and the development of new cleaning standards, allof our cylindrical brush machines and carpet extractors are designed to use less chemicals as well asprovide increased rotations per minute (RPMs). The adjustable head pressure helps to minimize theneed for powerful and potentially harmful chemicals. Our carpet extractors have enhanced vacuum sys-tems that limit the possibility of mold and mildew from developing and speed carpet-drying time. The result? Areas cleaned are ready for use faster and are safer for building occupants.

3. IAQ Enhancement: Vacuum cleaners including uprights, backpacks and canisters can release dustand debris into the air if they are not designed with advanced infiltration systems. That’s why Tornadohas developed a comprehensive product family of high-filtration vacuums with true HEPA filtration tominimize dust and exhaust from escaping the vacuum. All of our carpet care cleaning equipment hasbeen Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI) and Tandus Industries tested and approved for green cleaning. What’s more, many of our UHS Ultra High Speed machines have passive vacuum systems to trap con-taminants before they become airborne.

4. Reusable and Recyclable: Our machines are designed with durable polypropylene tanks, housingsand other components that are recyclable after the machine is no longer in use. All Tornado machinesproudly display the recyclable logo. Our long lasting, deep cycle, rechargeable batteries increase runtime and minimize down time and time spent on battery maintenance. Our cylindrical brush technologycreates less environmental waste by utilizing one cylindrical pad to every 100 rotary brush pads, in-creases the productivity of your maintenance staff with less time spent on pad maintenance andreplacement.

5. U.S. Green Building Council Member: We support standards and the criteria established bycertification bodies such as the U.S. Green Building Council, The Carpet and Rug Institute’s (CRI)Green Label Certification program, the Green Seal GS-37 standards, and more.

Tornado’s Commitment toEnvironmental Sustainability
