RBS Battery Base Unit BBU 9500

1 Introduction

The RBS Battery Base Unit BBU 9500 (BBU) is designed to house 2 x 4 12 Vbatteries for extended battery back-up. By using different battery bus bars thebatteries can be connected for +24 V (RBS 2106) or –48 V (RBS 3101).

The BBU is designed to be mounted on roofs and flat surfaces and includes1 – 4 modular cable lead-ins for side entry of cables to the cabinet.

 7DUJHW *URXSV

The target group for this document is all personnel requiring information onthe BBU.

 0DLQ )HDWXUHV

The RBS Battery Base Unit has the following main features:

• Compatible with the outdoor cabinets RBS 2106 and RBS 3101

• A climate door including a +24 V or –48 V Air Conditioning (AC) unit or aplain aluminum door (option)

• Can house 4 or 8 batteries (12 V/110 Ah or 12V/170 Ah) for externalbattery back-up of the RBS

• One of the two BBU compartments can be equipped to contain additionalequipment such as filters and external combiners

• Designed to be mounted on roofs and flat surfaces

• Provides 1 – 4 cable lead-ins for side entry of cables to the RBS

• Can be installed using a special anchor set for earthquake protection

• Prevents animals from entering the RBS (snake proof)

• Easy to add additional cables and additional cable lead-ins

3 Space Requirements

In addition to the space requirements of the RBS, which are specified in theTechnical Product Description of the RBS, the BBU requires space to the rightand left (approx. 500 mm) for work with routing cables through the lead-ins, intothe BBU. If no cable lead-in is used to the left of the BBU the space requiredfor the RBS door is minimum.
