Mathematics: This week would usually be an assessment week. I will include some of the basic skills children will need to work on in order to access the Y4 curriculum, these will be areas we have already covered, but are important in moving forward. The Learning Objectives are: Derive and use multiplication facts for the 3, 4 and 8 times tables. Derive and use addition and subtraction facts to 100 (e.g. 78+22=100/100-22=78) Add and subtract up to three digit numbers mentally, with a jotting or using a formal written method (column addition and subtraction). Derive and use all doubles to 100 and corresponding halves. Activity ideas and mastery/greater depth questions are included below. Year 3 The Final Week! Higher, Faster, Stronger Creative Curriculum- we usually cover two subjects per afternoon. This is our normal timetable. Spanish: This week we would be continuing Los deportes y las aficiones. Click on stage 2 and have a go at applying the vocabulary learned using “Introducing sentences” (E20) and “un diario”. The activities are under the 2Do section on Purple Mash. Independent Write: In our bubble sessions we have been creating a scrapbook of memories from Year 3, it would be great for you to write about your Year and send your work to us! R.E: “Which Rules Should We Follow?” has been a bumper unit. This week, try to cast your minds back and answer these key questions from the diocesan planning: What are rules? Why do we have rules? Who makes the rules? Who keeps the rules? Is there a difference between rules and laws? Who makes the law? What would happen if there were no rules/laws? Are the ten commandments still as relevant today? Why did Jesus bring a new commandment? Why do religions have rules PE: At the end of the year we would be revisiting techniques looked at previously. We would be looking at jumping techniques this week. Guidance is included below for the standing vertical jump, triple jump and standing long jump. We would love to hear your personal bests and see if you have managed to improve! Computing: This half term in computing we are combining our email unit and E-safety unit. I will be setting some response tasks on Purple Mash using 2Email, and there are many that children can choose for themselves, including lots of sports stars or book characters. Science: In science we would be continuing our topic on humans and other animals. This week we would be learning about nutrition, what the different food groups are and what they do for our bodies. Activities are included below. More information can be found at: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zrffr82/articles/zppvv4j Music: Children can access the YUMU website here: https://www.lancashiremusichub.co.uk/yumu and have been allocated their own usernames and passwords, which have been emailed via purple mash. Children can access listening and responding activities and games linked to the units of work we have covered this year in class. Design Technology: Following on from the science topic this week of “nutrition” it would be great to see children planning and creating a healthy meal or snack. This could be a simple packed lunch or a cooked meal (under supervision of course). Image can be take and emailed to Miss Hartley or recipes and tips can be shared on the class blog. PSHE: In science we have been learning all about our bodies. In PSHE we would be talking about how to care for our bodies by discussing personal hygiene, teeth cleaning, medicines and drugs and the importance of a healthy diet and exercise. Posters and leaflets will be available on Purple Mash for the children to customise, they may see them on classroom walls in the new year… Art: Earlier in the year we worked hard on developing our drawing skills using mixed dry media (pencils, pens, crayons, chalks etc). It would be lovely to see how much progress children have made, try creating your own “healthy food” still life image to draw, this can be photographed and sent via email. Golden Book: The final Golden Book of the year! Try logging on to the school website and singing some of the iSing Pop songs, reflecting on your experiences and achievements and sharing worship with your family. Have an amazing summer, we cannot wait to have you back in school with us in September! Please do not feel that we are asking you to complete all of the above activities. They are simply ideas that you may wish to look at. Whatever you choose to do whilst at home, enjoy time with your wonderful families, and above all, keep safe! Who makes the rules? Who keeps the rules? Is there a difference between rules and laws? Who makes the law? What would happen if there were no rules/laws? Are the ten commandments still as relevant today? Why did Jesus bring a new commandment? Why do religions have rules
