Get to know your BaZi Structure... and Understand How You Approach the World

Joey Yap’s BaZi Structures series of books comprises 5 individual titles to help you interact with the world.

While your Day Master shows you who you are, your Structure tells you about your behaviour and attitude in relation to the world. In this series, your strengths and weaknesses in how you relate to people and events in terms of work, family, and friendship all come to the fore. Each book in this series concentrates on one specific Structure, and provides clues on ideal careers, job roles, and wealth paths for that Structure.

Furthermore, these 5 guides will provide the blueprint to knowing why some people are the way they are, and what to do to help you deal with the varied and colourful characters in your life.

MANAGERS 管理型WEALTH STRUCTURE

The manager who guides others; you are a capable and dynamic go-getter.

The Wealth Structure personality in a nutshell is the resourceful and assertive person who is hands-on with the work, and confident enough to run anything. You are a perfectionist who expects the best from everyone, and always delivers it yourself. “Impossible” is not a word you’re familiar with.

On the flip side, others might sometimes be tempted to call you a “control freak.” You like nothing better than to tell them they’re wrong – and force them to agree with you.

Discover how you relate to the people and the world around you in your capacity at work, as a friend, and as a parent. This book outlines your plus points and your negative points, and provides ideas on how to make your personality work for you.

There are ideas on your suitable careers, job roles, and ideal paths to attaining wealth. There’s even a special section to show others how to deal with someone like you!

MANAGERS 管理型WEALTH STRUCTURE

What is a Structure? You’ve already heard of the concept of the Day Master in BaZi – but the BaZi Structure goes one step further. If the “Day Master” reveals your character traits, your “BaZi Structure” peels off another layer to help you understand your behaviour and attitude towards the people and events in your world. Your BaZi Structure reveals your mode of operation in life and how you relate to your friends, family and your work.

The intensity and value of your Day Master’s traits are determined by your BaZi Structure. Regardless of whether you’re a CEO, manager, or student – if you’re a Wealth Structure person, you’re a Manager! Find out which Structure you belong to and learn more about yourself and others.

The BaZi Structures: Knowing Your Place in the World

The idea for the BaZi Essentials series of books arose out of a desire to simplify the sophisticated study of Chinese Astrology into something a little easier to digest. Too many people are only familiar with the “12 Animal Year Signs” type of Chinese Astrology. But the true form of character traits in Chinese Astrology stems from the Day of Birth, not the Year of Birth. My previous series on the BaZi Essentials: 10 Day Masters focused on exactly that – the individual Day Master based on your Day of Birth.

If you’ve read my books on BaZi, BaZi – The Destiny Code and BaZi – The Destiny Code Revealed, or even taken any classes on the subject, you probably know that there is really NO end to BaZi studies. There may be a finite amount of theory or principles to learn, but the methods of application and interpretation are varying, complex, and hence, endless. That’s precisely why BaZi can become a lifelong study and education.

The book you’re currently holding in your hands belongs to the BaZi Essentials: 5 Structures series. It takes one step higher into demystifying the complex nature of BaZi studies to help you understand how you use BaZi your daily life, and to navigate through the events and people in your world.

But how is the BaZi Structures series book different from the Day Master series? Well, consider BaZi to have 3 layers of complexity based on the information gleaned from your day of birth:

Page 13: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

13

10 Day Masters (Level 1)

Who You Are - The Day Master reveals your basic character; your essential personality

traits, strengths and weaknesses fall under this.

5 Structures (Level 2)

How You Approach the World - The Structure reveals your personality in relation to the

world. In essence, your BaZi Structure shows you your modus operandi – why you behave

the way you do, and what attitudes you project in life.

10 Profiles (Level 3)

What You Do - The Profile reveals your individual lifestyle. It helps you understand what you do in the world, and how your actions are manifested. Your BaZi Profile explains your ‘style’ of operation in life.

It’s about how you function as a unique individual.

If you don’t know what’s your BaZi chart or your Structure, don’t worry. You can log on to my website at www.joeyyap.com/bazi5s to find out your Structure instantly.

It goes without saying that if you’re a Wealth Structure, you’re obviously more than just the characteristics listed here. You’re not only a dynamic, go-getting leader who is independent, but one with the inclination to be a bossy control freak! This book will, however, provide you with a general blueprint as to how you approach your life.

What are your most negative and positive personality traits? What are you like as a friend, as a parent, and as a worker? What type of careers and job roles are best suited to your disposition, and how to you deal with everyday problems, challenges, and issues – whether in your professional or personal life? What is your attitude to wealth, and how would you best go about making the most of your talents to gain more wealth? In other words, what’s your path of least resistance to wealth?

All these questions and more are addressed in this book, so that you’re able to see exactly how the Wealth Structure person is reacts to and interacts with external influences.

But bear in mind that in BaZi, the concept of STRONG or WEAK elements play a big role in determining how much of a Wealth Structure you are. These factors are too varied and complex to be discussed here in a simple book (it is, however, a fundamental section of my professional BaZi courses and Destiny Code series of books). Suffice to say that to read and understand this particular book, you merely need to be aware of this concept. If your Structure is strong, you’ll exhibit more of these tendencies outlined in this book.

The strongest element in your chart determines your BaZi Structure. However, it is entirely possible for one person to have a mix of Structures in his or her chart because of the different elements. As such, not everyone is a pure Structure. The second strongest element in your chart is known as your secondary BaZi Structure, and determines your secondary nature. Consider it your sub-behaviour, if you will. The print-out of your chart that you obtain from my website as mentioned above will clearly indicate the second strongest element.

Page 15: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

15

A healthy BaZi Structure is one where the strengths of all the elements are balanced; one where a single element is not too strong. When an element is too strong, it becomes known as an extreme BaZi Structure. This is typically indicative that more of the negative traits of that particular structure will prevail.

You do need to bear in mind that this book shows you the traits of the Wealth Structure in general, and doesn’t take into account the particularities of your entire BaZi chart! Therefore, it also becomes extremely valuable and important to get a complete BaZi consultation from a professional, or to take a full BaZi course and learn and master the interpretation skills for your own individual use.

BaZi is a study that helps us understand ourselves, make better decisions, and ultimately, enables us to shape our life for the better. These compact, easy-to-understand guides are designed to help you fulfill your life’s goals in a more meaningful way. I hope to make BaZi a relevant a part of your life – and may the knowledge that you gain serve you in all of life’s endeavours.

I wish you much pleasure and excitement in your journey towards understanding BaZi and applying it in your life.

INTRODUCTION

Managers

The Wealth Structure people are known as the Managers. They are the ones who are dynamic and results-oriented, and are extremely ambitious, competitive, and confident. People who belong to this particular Structure are often driven, and like to focus at the tasks at hand. They thrive when presented with problems and challenges, and perform better when there are hurdles – in other words, friction gives them traction. They crave the freedom to implement their solutions and the ability to exert control.

Wealth Structure people like to come in and exert control over everyone and everything, because they believe that they know the right or best way to do something. When operating at the top of their strengths, Wealth Structure people are likely to be ambitious go-getters

who will have high standards, and will expect other people to measure up to it. They are constantly ready to take charge, and are independent thinkers who are capable of handling almost any problem thrown at them.

When a Wealth Structure chart is imbalanced or unhealthy, however, they have a tendency to be control freaks. They may resort to impatient tactics in order to speed things up and derive quicker, better results, and may occasionally skimp on the important details in order to get those results. They also do not suffer fools gladly – and may at times display bad temper or frustration when made to answer the same question over and over again, or when forced to go over the same task repetitively with no improvement or changes.

GUIDING LIGHT“Let me show you the way...”What do Wealth Structure people enjoy doing? Telling people just what to do, and exactly how to do it, of course! Wealth Structure people always take the initiative and want to be in the know, so that they can make the best decisions. As such, their strong self-confidence in their own knowledge makes them someone who is keen to guide other people in order that others may be able to do the right thing, as well.

Wealth Structure people also want things to run well. They can’t tolerate half-baked plans or general inefficiency. They want to step in and help others do things in a more useful and efficient manner. Their keen interest in managing and guiding others stems out of this need.

Page 23: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

KEY FACTS

23

They are the people to go to if others want a frank, honest opinion or feedback. If people want to be flattered, they should not go looking for the Wealth Structure person. Wealth Structure individuals want to show others the way that is based upon their own way – they truly believe that they know best because they’ve put in the effort to find out.

INVOLVEDGetting into the thick of thingsWealth Structure can be perceived as being magnanimous in nature because of their need to tell others what to do. They don’t like to sit back and see other people flail in weak attempts. In fact, some people might find Wealth Structure a little too interfering or bossy, but that is typically how Wealth Structure manifests its concern.

As such, Wealth Structure people typically take on ‘big sister’ or ‘big brother’ roles among their friends. They may be the person whom others want to consult on matters mundane, such as where to have dinner or where to find the best tailor. And because of their competitive and assured demeanour, others also turn to them for business or financial advice – such as what to invest in, where to buy the best property, etc.

Page 25: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

Can be seen as •magnanimousGets involved•No fear of getting hands dirty•Draws self in to other people’s •affairs

KEY FACTS

25

Wealth Structure people can initially seem too cool and imposing, and they may intimidate others who think that they are distant. But the Wealth Structure person is keen to take control and is a very active do-er and task master. They will get extremely involved in other people’s affairs in the attempt to drive them towards the best, most productive ways or methods of doing things.

RISK-TAKERTaking a leap to get the bestWealth Structure people have a strong compulsion for change. They cannot bear stale consistency. They are keen to shake things up, gain new results, move things a little. They are interested in seeing improvements, and to ensure that the end outcome is a useful and productive one.

For this reason, they are willing to take the risks that enable them to get to the best, or ensure the most effective results. They will not dilly-dally on decisions, even if it requires making a hard choice. Wealth Structure is all about seeing action through till the end. They are keen to go the extra mile even if it’s to see their friends improve and do things better.

Page 27: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

Compulsive need for change•Wants things to become better•Keen to explore unchartered •territoriesTakes a gamble for •improvement

KEY FACTS

27

Wealth Structure people are optimists, in that they believe that things can change, and should be changed, for the better. They don’t sit back and put up with bad choices or negative repercussions. They’re not apathetic. Driven by their need to do things better, they are apt to take a risk or two to define their position and make their dreams a reality.

DOMINANTProud to be naturally bossyAs the Wealth Structure person enjoys telling other people what to do, this trait can manifest itself as pushiness or aggressiveness when the chart is rather negative, or not balanced. Wealth Structure people can sometimes forget that there’s a fine line between persuading or encouraging someone to do as they say, and simply forcing them to do so.

Sometimes, Wealth Structure people can take on a rather ‘know-it-all’ stance. While they do cultivate a need for knowledge because it gives them with the authority and the power to make the best decisions and spur on change, they don’t realise how they may overwhelm others with this tendency.

Page 31: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

KEY FACTSAggressive•Decides for others•May force actions upon •othersWants to be the final arbitrator •

31

Even if other people don’t ask for their advice and input, Wealth Structure individuals simply cannot stand by and watch someone making a mistake or doing things slowly and inefficiently. They need to jump right into the picture and start driving others to certain modes of action or behaviour. Naturally, this may sometimes rub others the wrong way.

POSSESSIVE“You’re mine... forever”In certain negative or unbalanced charts, some Wealth Structure people can turn out to be rather possessive. Because of their driven, work-focused natures, they rarely have time or inclination to sit back and relax. They don’t have very many friends around because they’re perfectionists and expect others to be perfect, and because they have trouble easily trusting others.

Because of this, once they do find friends, they tend to become rather possessive and clingy. But typically, Wealth Structure people don’t manifest in regular submissive-needy ways. They tend to force their friends to be their friends and to stick to them wherever they go!

Page 33: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

Controlling •Wants all friends’ attention•Unpopular, so clings on to •friendsTries to make friends by force•

KEY FACTS

33

They’re so used to dealing with people in a forthright and blunt manner (especially in work) that they do the same with their friends, neglecting to take the softer, more emotional approach – which admittedly might better win people over. Instead, they misguidedly try to guilt or manipulate their friends into sticking with them that they inadvertently turn off some of them.

Page 34: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

CUNNINGMaking crafty use of othersWhat’s the one thing that Wealth Structure people invested most in? Results. No matter what they do, they want to do it well, and be confident that they’ve done it better than anyone else. There is always some goal that they’re trying to accomplish, and this ties in to their perfectionist standards.

As such, sometimes Wealth Structure people tend to see other people as value. Value ties in to results for Wealth Structure people, and if there is no value to be seen, then presumably there are no results. Sometimes, in extreme cases, some Wealth Structure people may choose to end friendships that yield no particular value.

KEY FACTS

Wealth Structure people have a hard time seeing that their own interests may sometimes not be in the interests of others. They tend to expect other people’s goals to be the same as their own. Because of this nature, they may inadvertently use people to achieve those end results – not realising how this turns others against them.

LONE RANGERPushing away all their prospective Tonto’sWealth Structure people are very independent. This is largely because they have problems trusting people easily. They just don’t think that others are able to do a job as when they do it on their own. Because of this, they tend to strike out on their own and go forth in a very independent manner.

There’s nothing wrong with being autonomous and self-governing, but Wealth Structure people tend to have an impervious air about them. Wealth Structure individuals prefer to weather all things alone, battling through the hard winds with a stoic and impenetrable air.

Page 37: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

KEY FACTS

Resolutely independent•Keeps friends at a distance•Doesn’t admit to •weaknesses or mistakesHas trouble saying sorry•Doesn’t want to trouble •others or waste time

37

Because they’re unable to express their feelings and display their weaknesses to others, other people feel as though they never entirely know Wealth Structure people. Wealth Structure individuals also have trouble saying they’re sorry. Wealth Structure people rarely turn to others for guidance because they don’t want to trouble their friends, and are reluctant to waste more time going through other channels when they can simply do it themselves.

HEAD OF THE FAMILYTaking control of the situationWealth Structure people bring the same amount of efficiency and control to their roles as parents. Wealth Structure parents are the ones exerting leadership and deciding the goals. They are incredibly self-sufficient, and don’t let their family values and goals fall to the wayside by being too relaxed or uninvolved. It is important to them that their children grow up valuing time and resources, and knowing the notion of hard work.

As such, Wealth Structure parents are total take-charge types. Any time there is any domestic drama, whether it be serious or trivial, they quickly enter into “get-to-work” mode, and figure out the way to solve the

problem. Not for them the endless hand-wringing and the incessant questioning of “Why me?”

They tend to show their children the way, and guide them toward achieving success. They take control of the situation and teach them how to get what they want. In this case, Wealth Structure parents are good at leadership by example. They establish goals and help their kids structure their lives so that they can achieve it.

THE DRIVING FORCEInstilling the ‘can-do’ attitude in their kidsAs parents, Wealth Structure people are prime motivators. They are always very encouraging of the pursuits and activities their kids indulge in, and teach them that for everything that they do well, they can always do it better. It’s important for Wealth Structure that their kids are inspired and motivated to do better.

They often strive to do this by example. Wealth Structure parents are always motivating their family to action. They don’t encourage passivity. They pull things together, get things up and running. If there are guidelines to be

ORGANISED

Making sure the home runs smoothlyAs parents, Wealth Structure is very organised and methodical. They are disciplined about their own lives, and in the same vein, they promote a sense of structure in their children’s lives. They value time management and a sense of organisation, and don’t like things to be helter-skelter. Nothing makes the Wealth Structure parent more annoyed than a day spent wasted doing nothing!

They maintain their home in good order, and by extension, maintain the household schedule in good order as well. Wealth Structure parents are very careful to pay attention to the finer details, and ensure that nothing gets in the way of their children’s schedules and daily habits. They are also

Wealth Structure people also don’t like living in a state of constant clutter. As such, they try to maintain their household and their children’s lives in a state of neatness and tidiness. Wealth Structure simply can’t bear to live and think in a place that is not well-maintained and well-organised. They like things running smoothly. The Wealth Structure parent is a little bit of neat freak!

KNOWLEDGEABLEHaving the answer to every questionThroughout their lives, Wealth Structure parents have a strong need to be right. They tend to amass quite a bit of knowledge. Whether this is strictly book-smarts, or street smarts, it is rare to find a Wealth Structure person who does not know what to do. They are extremely capable and resourceful and if there is a loop hole to be found, one can bet that the Wealth Structure person will find it.

As parents, then, it’s only natural that Wealth Structure people are good at teaching their kids to be self-sufficient. They project values to help their children land on their own two feet, and teach them how to go about things in a useful and efficient manner.

DICTATORIAL“Whatever I say... goes!”As we’ve come to discover by now, Wealth Structure people are very much in love with the idea of having control. Power and authority are traits that make them very happy, and they strive hard to get it. They want things to be done their way because they think that their way is the best way!

However, as parents, this trait can sometimes manifest itself in a negative light. They can be dictatorial and domineering parents, and because they consider themselves authority figures, they expect their every order and request to be obeyed. The ancient Chinese saying, “I have eaten more salt than you have eaten rice” best describes the Wealth Structure parental attitude towards their children. They believe that since they have

done more and experienced more, their views and perceptions are more useful and should be obeyed.

As such, living with the Wealth Structure parents can sometimes be exhausting. They “micromanage” their kids the way they do to their employees at work, following every move and barking out orders as and when they see fit. They may see fit to dictate orders on what their children eat, or right down to what they wear and how they wear it.

PERFECTIONISTExpecting faultlessness at every moment The Wealth Structure parent is very concerned with the end result. As such, they become overly concerned with having perfect kids – ‘perfect’ in terms of their own ideals. They are, in fact, perfectionists and expect the best from everything – including their children. Sometimes, they get too carried away that they neglect to consider their children’s feelings.

As such, they can set impossibly high standards and demand too much from their children. When their personality traits are manifested in a negative way, Wealth Structure parents can be very obsessive and fault-finding. They have high expectations, and can be too idealistic in wanting only perfection.

Page 55: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

Sets high standards•Expects too much•Wants children to be perfect•Has unrealistic ideas of •what’s acceptableFocuses too much on end •results

KEY FACTS

55

Because of this, their children may feel somewhat pressured. The Wealth Structure parent tends focus too much on the results, and less on the journey to get there. They may imbue a sense of fear or anxiety in their children because of this constant need to live up to incredibly high expectations.

Page 56: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

EMOTIONALLY DEMANDINGSometimes too much is just never enoughWhen their charts are negative or somewhat imbalanced, Wealth Structure parents have the potential to be very demanding. As parents, Wealth Structure people expect and want too much from their children to the point where it becomes very stifling. Wealth Structure parents are rarely low-key and laidback.

Wealth Structure parents are rarely able to express how they feel in emotions. As such, they express their concern for their children through obsessive involvement with their goals and their lifestyles. They try to care for their children by expecting them to have the same desire for achievement and success as

This inability to see their children as different and separate from themselves, as well as their inherent possessiveness, makes the Wealth Structure parent a very demanding one indeed. Sometimes, their unrelenting pressure on their children and their emotional focus may cause their children to suffer from some form of mild depression or anxiety.

WORKAHOLICBeing too busy at timesAs expected, Wealth Structure parents rarely know a moment of rest. In their own lives, they can be extremely busy – chasing after one of the many goals they have on their list. Besides, they see it as a weakness of sorts not to be busy. These are people who aren’t familiar with the words “down time.”

When Wealth Structure people become parents, they are usually quite stretched thin. They often have several different balls hanging in the air and get quite a kick from being able to rush from one thing to another, multitasking like an expert. But they don’t realise that their children need their whole and undivided attention; not bits and pieces afforded to them as scraps.

As such, Wealth Structure parents are often absentee parents who are too busy. They may miss out on some important junctures

Wealth Structure parents love their children, but are not so good at spending lots of time with their children. They prefer instead to focus on quality time, but sometimes their children may misunderstand or unable to see it from this point of view.

Determined•There is nothing that anyone can do that you can’t do better! You fervently believe this, and are thus able to improve upon existing modes of doing things in order to get things done the right way. You believe that everything will turn out alright if done in your way, and especially if it’s done immediately.

Confident•You have tremendous self-confidence, and don’t need to sit around and wait for someone else to give you the seal of approval. If you believe in yourself and think that you’re doing the right thing, that’s all the approval that you need!

Decisive•Not for you the constant waffling of “Do I?” or “Do I not?” You make up your mind fast, and you stick with it. You understand the value of time and the power of a decision well-made, and fast. You have a hard time understanding people who don’t seem to know their own mind!

Dynamic•You’re one of the most constantly-moving people that others know. You’re not one to sit still and watch the days go by. It is imperative for you that you get into action and get your hands dirty. While you demand perfection, you’re not afraid to get in and do the work.

Rational•You’re not one to get carried away by the strength of your emotions and sentiments. You know there’s a time and place for everything, and will prefer to reason things out before jumping to conclusions. Reacting from emotional extremes is never your thing.

Visionary •You have a strong vision to fulfill whatever you want. You’re keen to tell other people what to do, and guide them. If there’s one role you don’t fit, it’s that of the submissive or passive follower. You dislike having to adhere to other people’s directions when you know your own can be so much better!

Page 65: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

65

Adaptable•You have almost a compulsive need for change in all that you do. Because of this, you’re up for anything, and when a ball is suddenly lobbed at you from a random direction, you’re more than able to reach out and catch it. You’re very flexible and rarely resistant to differences or new ideas. In fact, you welcome that, as you find extreme consistency very stifling.

Competitive•Whenever someone tells you something can’t be done, it whets your appetite. You will go all out to achieve it. You thrive on challenges, and enjoy working against presupposed beliefs in order to prove others wrong. You are very goal-oriented and ambitious, and will usually stop at nothing to achieve it.

THE DARK SIDE

Page 67: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

67

Domineering•You like to have things under your control. You have less trust in others and in their ability to get the job done. As such, you can be unpopular because of this, and may inadvertently alienate people.

Micromanaging •You crave perfection and want things to be done just the way you imagine it to be. Because of this, you micro-manage others to the smallest task sometimes. You don’t think that other people can be relied upon to get the job done just as well, so you feel a need to watch over them constantly and manage their actions.

High-strung•Your inclination for a non-stop pace of activity leaves you prone to all kinds of mental pressure, and health problems. Take things easy once in awhile. You demand so much of yourself and of others that you sometimes forget to sit back and relax.

Demanding•You know you have a tendency to chastise and berate others for not reaching your standards of perfection. Do consider their feelings on occasion. Not everyone is as good as you are in separating feelings from reason, and keeping professional and private apart. You have to ensure that you’re not demanding more than is reasonable.

Impatient •You are impatient because you want results quickly, and dislike being made to wait to see the fruits of your labour. Being efficient, for you, means doing things quickly. But sometimes being impatient means that you miss out on mistakes, and this may inadvertently slow things down for you in the long run.

Page 69: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

69

Solitary •You take pride in your ability to get things done on your own. You don’t mean this intentionally, but it’s just that other people have a hard time keeping up with you. You also struggle to delegate, and as a result may end up toiling away on your own. You often get to the top, but it is lonely there as not many understand you or are on your wavelength.

Bad-tempered•When things don’t go according to plan, you can become frustrated or angry. Your temper may be one of your weaknesses, as well as your impetuousness – you may say or do things that you’ll come to regret later. You can come off a little too strong with your tendency to be forceful and dominant, and your inability to handle it graciously when people refuse to follow your orders.

INDEPENDENTCarving out their own pathWealth Structure individuals are independent, autonomous types who rarely take orders from anyone else! If you want to take orders from someone else, you have to know and trust that they are smarter and worthy of being followed. They know what they want, and they go all-out to get it. Being hands-on in their work, getting what they want is rarely a problem. Wealth Structure individuals are usually the people who are setting the pace, not the ones who wait for someone else to do it.

They have very high standards about how to get a job done. Because of this, they don’t suffer fools lightly and don’t really want to be put in the position of being dependent on anyone else to get things done. They are

TAKING THE LEADShowing the way to othersWealth Structure people tend to thrive on giving orders and running things. They are effective managers, and will rather be the ones directing things instead of listening to someone else. In order to accept someone else as a leader, they need to respect that person first.

These people tend to sweep in and take charge of everything, especially when they see other people fumbling about or doing things slowly. They value the essence of time, and rather than wait around for someone else to take control, Wealth Structure performs the necessary duty of taking control and becoming captain of the ship!

It’s about maximising those results, and creating them in the most productive manner possible.

In a word = efficient. They are particularly competent at utilising time, resource, and labour in the best possible way (and also the smartest way). Capable and resourceful, Wealth Structure people see problems as challenges; another hurdle to overcome, another fence to jump over. As such, they are not stymied or perplexed by issues and problems. They adopt a very practical mindset in dealing with issues, and don’t allow distractions or emotions to get in the way. Because of this, they’re also particularly adept at separating work issues from their personal life. Possibly this is one of their strengths in helping them approach work tasks in a systematic and thorough manner.

DECISIVENo fumbling about for Wealth StructureWhile the rest of the world sighs and contemplates, deliberates and ponders, muses and wonders, Wealth Structure is at the front and centre – being decisive. They are not prone to flights of fancy or hours of brooding. When a decision has to be made, Wealth Structure people approach it as just another problem to be solved. They act on it, and make a decision. They also tend to do it fast, because they think humming and hawing over decisions is just another way of wasting time and energy.

Often, they make the right decisions because they’re already aware of all the options and the subsequent results. Because they’re very no-nonsense and hands-on, they have the confidence to think decisively. They don’t allow themselves to think too much, as over-thinking can lead to non-action. Backed up

They have a very one-step-at-a-time mentality, and don’t bother thinking about the outcomes of a decision until they’re faced with it. As such, they don’t let imaginary fears and insecurities hold them back. They are very strong-willed and don’t let other people’s opinions or comments give rise to doubts. Wealth Structure cares less about other people’s feelings or thoughts, and more about the bottom-line. This kind of tunnel vision serves them very well when they need to make a decision.

CONTROLLINGDo as I say, or else...On the flip side of Wealth Structure’s leadership tendencies is its propensity to be controlling. Wealth Structure people like to be in charge of everything. However, they may not always be right, and this may lead to problems.

Their knee-jerk response is to take control of everything because others get in their way. Indeed, when their good traits start to weaken and become bad traits, Wealth Structure becomes less like a leader and more like an overbearing know-it-all, or worse, a bossy tyrant. In their pursuit of complete control, they often tend to override suggestions from others that can actually prove to be potentially helpful or creative. Also, they fail to delegate and may take on everything upon themselves – which is a sure-fire recipe for disaster.

AGGRESSIVEUsing bully tactics at timesIt goes without saying by now that other people will have an idea of Wealth Structure people as being aggressive. And indeed, they will be right! Wealth Structure is known for its forceful and strong-willed approach. When things are going well, this is usually interpreted as their ability to be decisive and competent. They can become aggressive and frustrated when things don’t go their way.

Their overbearing ways can scare other people off, or intimidate them into resentful yet submissive silence. Wealth Structure individuals may alienate others precisely because they don’t find it useful or rewarding to work on the same problems for long periods or lengths of time. Repetition without any form of improvement drives them crazy.

Page 87: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

KEY FACTS

87

Also, Wealth Structure’s aggressive tendencies can keep him or her out of the loop from what’s really going on. People will not approach Wealth Structure to share problems, potential roadblocks, issues, and by extension, information. By being forceful and harsh in their approach with others, Wealth Structure people can alienate themselves and create a vacuum of knowledge around them that only other people can supply. Their behaviour can be overwhelming to others, and they may alienate or push away others by being overly-concerned about the logic of things.

Page 88: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

RASHImpatient to a faultWealth Structure people don’t like to be made to wait, and this will be exemplified to the extreme in Wealth Structure individuals with extreme negative or unhealthy charts. These are the type of people who will ask for work to be done immediately, the kind who “wanted it yesterday.” As such, being patient is not one of their strong suits. They are concerned primarily with getting results, and getting results fast.

As such, they have a tendency to be rash and will rush into things in a frenzied and hurried manner. This leaves them open to all manner of careless mistakes and oversights, which, when combined with their almost arrogant confidence, leaves them feeling that they’re above any sort of censure or correction.

JUDGMENTALExtremely critical of othersAmong all the Structures, Wealth Structure people tend to be the most judgmental. They take it as a personal affront when someone else is not performing according to their standards! In addition, they do not suffer fools gladly – but accordingly, almost everyone is a fool for not being as quick on the uptake as they are! They dislike having to repeat instructions and orders, or answering the same questions over and over again. As such, they can be extremely critical and disparaging of other people whom they deem inferior to themselves.

It’s hard for others to work with a judgmental know-it-all, especially one with unreasonable standards. Furthermore, being judgmental and overly-critical affects workplace morale, and erodes trust and comfort in teamwork. Because of this, Wealth Structure people who manifest these tendencies at extreme levels

Being overly-judgmental over others also prevents Wealth Structure people from being clear-sighted about suggestions and solutions offered by others. As capable as they are, Wealth Structure individuals are not experts in everything. As such, being too critical or demanding of others gets in the way of them being open and receptive to ideas contributed by other people in their team, or by their subordinates. In the long run, this will also affect the quality of their work and output.

CEOs, Management•

Wealth Structure people are also cut out for management level jobs that allow them to run the show and tell other people what to do. They work best in environments that give them a large degree of autonomy, and are best made to lead departments and teams that need to be micro-managed and watched over with a microscope. They thrive on setting guidelines, rules, and orders, and will be happiest when they are able to lead a team of people who fall in line and listen to their orders. They also thrive as CEO’s because of their task and goal-oriented nature, but with the ability to take a useful risk or two in order to gain better or more beneficial results.

Military & Law Enforcement •Leaders

The Wealth Structure individual will thrive in situations that require careful guidance and strong leadership. They do need to shout out clear and precise instructions, and as military and law enforcement personnel thrive under strong leadership, it’s the Wealth Structure person

As Wealth Structure likes to run a tight ship, he or she will ensure that the people in their command are adhering to the rules.

Political Office Leaders, Chief •of Staff

Politics is a game that requires strong and decisive personalities who aren’t easily afraid – qualities which the Wealth Structure has in abundance. However, thinking is not one of their strong suits – which is why being an actual politician, or political strategist, doesn’t quite suit them. However, being able to take charge of a political campaign, team, or office plays up to their strengths. As leaders, they will not cower under pressure or fail to live up to decision-making during crucial moments. They are also very hands-on and practical, and can keep an office or campaign running smoothly without succumbing to the tension of stressful moments.

Wealth Structure people are not the kind of people to sit back and receive orders. They can do that on one condition: that they are then given the freedom to use those directions to lead and control other people! As such, they thrive in work situations where there are given the leeway to take charge and whip others into shape. They enjoy the freedom of being able to do this without having to always resort to the approval of someone else, as well. It’s not that they have a problem giving thorough and detailed reports to someone else; it’s just that they do better when they do this as a matter of routine, and are largely given the space to work on their own. They need the cooperation of others, however, in helping them execute these visions.

The quickest way to kill off the Wealth Structure’s enthusiasm and energy is by making him or her sit in a corner and say nothing, only nod and accept orders. They need to feel that they are contributing something; the only way they do this is by getting their hands dirty, taking the lead, and telling others what to do. Even an entry-level job for Wealth Structure graduates that gives them this kind of stimulation will keep them happy (and loyal) in the long run.

They work well with Influence Structure precisely because Influence Structure people are happy to take the backseat and work in the background, while Wealth Structure needs to be front and centre and the key figure in all things. They need to focus on tasks and exercise a sense of control and authority in order to feel that they’re truly contributing to an enterprise or a project.

OBSTACLES TO WEALTH

Page 103: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

103

A significant problem for the •Wealth Structure is that it knows how to start and run a company, but has difficulty delegating. This is because Wealth Structure people are unwilling to hire talent. More importantly, they don’t know how to hire talent.

Wealth Structure people •can be rather difficult to work for. They can be rather temperamental and have high demands, and as such can have problems in getting people to work for them. Acquiring less people means less productivity in the long run.

Their lack of patience •also means that they get bored easily, and need to be stimulated often. Once they get bored, they start to lose their drive and sense of momentum, and hence they can easily get stuck and stop growing and expanding.

Wealth Structure’s controlling •attitude also makes it difficult for them to have synergy with others. Synergy typically equals big money. But their lack of it can be a substantial impediment towards acquiring more wealth.

Wealth Structure people •have the inability to relax. They simply feel guilty when they do. They work too hard and push themselves on to greater heights, sometimes at the expense of their health and energy. As health very often equals wealth, this tendency can also serve to be an obstruction for greater wealth.

Their insistence on rushing to •finish things fast may also lead them to compromise on quality. In the long run, this may affect the reputation of their performance, and be a significant obstacle towards obtaining future business opportunities.

Page 105: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

105

Wealth Structure people don’t •suffer fools gladly. They don’t have the patience to listen to those who are slower, or whom they consider weaker. Wealth Structure’s weakness is its firm conviction that it is always right. They may think they’re superior, and this may be psychologically damaging to the people who work for them or under their supervision. As such, others are unwilling to share ideas with Wealth Structure people. Wealth Structure people are good with results and tasks, but not with people. This can prove to be a significant barrier to acquiring wealth, as people need other people to help them get things done.

BEST PATHS TO WEALTH

Page 107: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

107

Wealth Structure gets things •done by taking the lead and being the driving force. They are results-oriented, and as long as they are clear and focused, they can achieve goals faster.

They do well as visionaries •who start their own business from scratch, and have complete creative control over their product – as long as they’re ably assisted by a team of qualified talents.

They can also do well by •starting their own business, and by parlaying their sense of control and efficiency into a known entity. Wealth Structure people must have autonomous control over their own career trajectory.

Wealth Structure people also •excel as ‘super managers’ or CEOs, where they have leeway and authority to shake up a business or corporation from the inside out. Some examples of successful Wealth Structure individuals who have made a mint on their resourcefulness, bravado, and capability include Jack Welch and Steve Ballmer.

The ‘safe’ path to wealth •also appeals to the Wealth Structure; i.e. the traditional path of working hard, saving up, and investing in all the right markets. Wealth Structure people are also experts at efficiency, and as such must manage their own money. A good Wealth Structure person makes his money work for him. They need to invest in financial planning, and they will be better off.

If there comes a •time when you actually need to contest their need to lead, it’s best not to do it forcefully. You need to be a little artful and subtly manipulative and allow them to think that they are still leading while you try to control the reins.

The best way to •handle the Wealth Structure is to avoid taking anything personally. Indeed, they are pretty adept at drawing the line between work matters and personal matters. Therefore, you’ll need to do the same when you deal with them. Don’t expect personal favours or considerations to bleed into work matters.

If you know people who belong to the Wealth Structure and want to know how to best work with them (as colleagues) and manage them (as an employer), read on for some hints:

Page 113: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

113

Better yet, let them •thrive by putting them in charge of a team or department that will benefit from some micro-managing. Bonus points if they need to get in there themselves and get their hands dirty, and they are required to make quick, off-the-cuff decisions.

However, it might •be better off for you to simply let them lead! But ensure that they know it’s leadership by example. Present them with the proper mandate, and allow them to take it where it leads them. Don’t stifle their natural ability by being overbearing.

In order to get on the •same wavelength as the Wealth Structure person, avoid waxing lyrical over the process or the journey, even if it is your natural inclination. Instead, focus on talking about the results. This is the language in which they speak – and if you choose to speak it too, you’ll be quicker at winning them over.

If there are people •who need to be whipped into shape, or who are slacking and underper forming, trust the Wealth Structure leader to get them back on their feet. Let them lead these stragglers and you’ll find that they’ll be producing results before you know it.

Page 115: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

115

Be competent and •timely, and they will be yours forever. It doesn’t matter if you have different approaches to work; as long as you show them that you value their time and resources as much as they do, you’ll be able to work relatively well together.

IDENTIFYING THE EXTREME WEALTH

Deal with it by:Giving him the leeway and the freedom to make important decisions, but cutting it short when you think that he’s not being responsive to others. Tell him that you find the other suggestions useful, and you’re going to incorporate it, and leave it at that. Don’t get emotional. Be cool and precise, and don’t be accommodating.

He is, in other •words, a control freak. He wants to be in control all the time, and feels the need to have authority over all decisions, projects, and tasks. As such, he can be quick to dismiss other ideas or suggestions that may contribute to the situation.

The Overzealous Leader

Page 119: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

119

Deal with it by:Taking his demands into consideration, then factually and logically showing him the impossibility of each. Continuously keep him updated on progress. Show him how all 10 members of the team have 5 different balls juggling in the air and are unable to fulfill his requests – because that’s how unrealistic it is. Again, be calm and cool, and allowing his to rant and rave. He’s nothing if not smart, and will soon realise how impractical he was.

He has high •standards. Standards so high, in fact, that you’re not sure who else has them – the Queen; or God, perhaps. He will impose this stress upon others even though it’s unrealistic, causing stress and creating situations of high and intense pressure. Also, he can be domineering, aggressive, and hostile – almost a bully, when others don’t live up to it. He makes cutting remarks.

Deal with it by:Talking to him and reasoning with him by showing him a timeline that allows him to see how impossible it is for him to do it on his own. Also, gently suggest that he’s stepping over others’ roles and positions. If that doesn’t do it, set him an impossible deadline. Sometimes, it requires some manipulation. He’ll be forced to learn how to delegate.

He is a do-er. •Anything that needs to be done, he does it. If the whole world needs his help, well, he’s going to do it. All by himself. He has a tendency to hog information and resources because he doesn’t delegate to others. He does not know how to convey clear and precise instructions. He doesn’t allow others to help, or sometimes, he doesn’t give them space to do their job.

Page 121: BaZi Essentials - Managers (Wealth Structure)

121

Deal with it by:Doing the same thing you did for his unreasonable expectations. Present him with a detailed project timeline, and allow him to see for himself what each person/team is doing, and their respective deadlines. If you’re his superior, you can simply tell him to sit tight and wait. If he’s your superior, you can ask him if he wants to allocate more help/resources for you to finish your work faster. Otherwise, just tell him calmly that you’ll finish by the agreed-upon date. It’s best to have project and deadline discussions with his superior present, or another manager, so that they can keep him in line.

He’s the “due •yesterday” person. He is consistently impatient, and doesn’t understand why things aren’t due “now”. He can be extremely overbearing and will start policing other employees to ensure they do it on time. He’s convinced everyone else is wasting their time, even though they’re simply doing their job.
