BAYOU CITY PERFORMING ARTS
A THEATRICAL, CHORAL EXPERIENCE FROM THE GAY MEN’S CHORUS OF HOUSTON
PRESENTS
LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR OF THE GMCHGood evening and welcome to “Broadway, Boys and Boas”, featuring The Gay Men’s Chorus of Houston under the umbrella of Bayou City Performing Arts (BCPA).
As we present our Pride concert in our 38th season, we are proud to continue to bring to our audiences and the City of Houston musical excellence. “Broadway, Boys and Boas” promises to be an exciting and electric concert featuring the very best of Broadway past and present. The LGBTQ community has a very strong connection in the relevance and meaning of stories and songs from Broadway. We are very excited to have as our special guests, Karin and her Dancers, and members of the Houston Pride Band to assists us in making this evening beyond spectacular.
Tonight, you will hear songs of hope, love, commitment, rejection, and personal journey. You may even see a jaded vixen or two. Who knew the many parallels between Broadway and the LGBTQ community?
There are many exciting events and upcoming concerts planned for BCPA and I am positive that we will continue to raise the bar of our accomplishments, including expanding our partnerships with other community organizations in Houston, making music fun for the membership and providing highly entertaining value through our concerts and outreach performances. Our September concert “Finding Oz” and our holiday concert will feature the voices of Bayou City Women’s Chorus along with GMCH. We invite you to be a part of our wonderful family. You can find more information about joining the chorus in this playbill.
We are approaching the horizon of our 40th season and we are confident that you will continue to enjoy the remarkable variety of the programs of our choruses.
Our dedicated members, generous donors, volunteers and you, our audience, empower us with a sense of vitality and adventure to expand our outreach as ambassadors of diversity and musical excellence in and outside of Houston. We are proud to share these moments with you.
Enjoy the show!
Kenneth Clayborne Director Gay Men’s Chorus of Houston

Bayou City Performing Arts (BCPA) invites you to play a dynamic and vital role in its financial strength by becoming a member of its prestigious Crescendo Society. The Crescendo Society exists to recognize those individuals, corporations, organizations and foundations that make monetary commitments to BCPA. Your donation will go far to keep our choruses singing and give us room to grow. Contributions are considered tax-deductible less any benefits received in exchange for these gifts. Your tax deductible gift(s) of $100 and above will be recognized in each of Bayou City Performing Arts’ concert programs.
There are many different ways to give:Sustaining Gifts -Donations are like paychecks to an organization. They work best when received in regular increments. By becoming a sustaining member you are committing to a quarterly or monthly pledge to the organization. Not only will this gift maintain the financial integrity of BCPA, but will also make a larger gift more affordable.
Stock and other securities as gifts – You receive market value at the time of your gift. In addition, BCPA will have immediate access to your gift to use in its operations.
Bequests and Estates – In addition to gifts from personal estates to their general operating account, BCPA is developing an endowment in which supporters of the choruses can stipulate gifts through their wills.
Corporate Matching – Make your donations go 100% further with matching funds from your employer. Ask your Human Resources department if they offer a corporate match program for 501(c)(3) nonprofits.

LETTER FROM THE BOARD CHAIRWelcome to the Gay Men’s Chorus of Houston concert, Broadway, Boys and Boas. Tonight’s show will be an exciting and electric concert featuring the very best of Broadway past and present. The LGBTQ community has a very strong connection in the relevance and meaning of stories and songs from Broadway. We are excited to be celebrating GMCH’s 38th Season and I can’t wait for you to hear the concert Kenneth and these talented men have put together for you!
Our men have been working very hard to prepare for this concert. During this season they have taken the time out to walk, sing and raise money at the Houton AIDS Walk, with Members of The Bayou City Women’s Chorus. As well as host events at Guava Lamp and Rich’s.
A big thank you to Dayna Steele for being tonight’s special guest and for sharing her Broadway experience with us, we appreciate this opportunity to spend time with her.
We would like to express a very special appreciation to all of our sponsors, foundations, and individual contributors who are supporting us this season. Our Crescendo Society members are listed in this program. We simply could not continue the operation of the Bayou City Performing Arts without the generous support of these donors. I hope you will consider becoming a member of our Crescndo Society. Please see page 10 for more information.
