Film TrailersWhat are film trailers?A film trailer is an advertisement or a commercial for a feature film that will be exhibited in the future at a

cinema, at the start of a DVD or even on a TV advertisement.Why are they made?They are made to advertise the film or to entice customers into going to the cinema to watch the film when it is

released into cinemas. They also gibe the customer information that they may not already know about the film such as actors that play in it, and the genre of the film.

How do they work? They are clips of the film put together to show the film in a good light. They choose parts of the film wisely to

get to the target audience often using a main actor or a certain genre of the film such as a part with lots of action. There are pieced together with things such as quotes and logos. They also include when the film is either in cinemas or released on DVD.

Where do we see them? We often see them in cinemas before a film starts. We also see them on DVD's before a film starts, and another

place that they are used are in TV adverts. When are they released? They are normally released a few weeks/ months before the film is released into cinemas, or the DVD is

released into shops.

A film’s marketing campaign is made up of several elements;• Trailers• Posters• TV adverts• Magazine pages • Online pages• YouTube trailers• Facebook fan pages• website

The marketing campaign in a vital part of a film as it’s what grabs the target audience and will inform them about the film. With all these marketing strategies above there are not many people that will not see something promoting the film, so therefore they are drawing in a wide market. With the advance in technologies they can get to their target audience a lot more easily using things such as YouTube and facebook.

high budget film. Skipping from one scene to another quite fast although it still makes sense. At the end there id a battleships logo. And also had the month and year that it will be out in the cinemas. Also underneath this date there is the website www.battleshipmovie.com. This is also a marketing strategies, as people watching the trailer may then check the website out for more information.

start the words come up up onto the screen ‘the perfect place’ then ‘to hide’. There is then an explosions in the water so like the first trailer it is also full of action. It then says ‘from the company that brought you TRANFORMERS’. This is a marketing techniques as if people had watched transformers and liked it that may now watch this, knowing that its made by the same company. They then use a few of the same action scenes as the first trailer. Then a different logo and date of release are used.

action scene more of a emotive one. Then the says ‘from the company that brought you TRANFORMERS’ is used again. This time the main statement of the trailer is Rihanna. This is used because if the audience know rihanna stars in it they may then go and watch it. Rihanna is very popular so therefore will bring in a lot of customer to watch the film. This time at the end there is the same logo as in the first but when the release date comes on the screen it just states 2012.

Battleship PostersThese are both poster that are used to promote the film battleship. They both use continuity between both products. This is because the same theme of color font and size are used. Also the lighting in both of them is similar. They both include the battleship logo and release date.

All of the above are character poster’s used to promote the film. There is continuity Between all 4 of the products. They use the same theme, font, color and photo type.This makes them all correspond with each other. They use different characters in the Film to promote it as if that certain actor/ actress is popular then if a certain audienceSee that they are staring in it they are likely to go and see/ buy the movie.
