A concrete plant, also known as a BATCH PLANT OR BATCHING PLANT, is a device that combines various ingredients to form concrete.

Some of these inputs include • Sand• Water• Aggregate (rocks, gravel, etc.), • Fly ash• Admixtures (sica , etc)• Cement

It’s easy to disassemble, transport and assemble again. In 15 – 20 days we assemble your plant in a new site producing concrete, saving you time and money. There are two types of batching plants:

• READY MIX PLANT (READY MIX CONCRETE / RMC) A ready mix plant combines all ingredients except for water at the concrete plant. This mixture is then discharged into a ready mix truck (also known as a concrete transport truck).

Water is then added to the mix in the truck and mixed during transport to the job site.

Page 3: Batching plant ppt

• CENTRAL MIX PLANT Central mix plant combines all of the above ingredients + water at a central location. The final product is then transported to the job site. Central mix plants differ from ready mix plants in that they offer the end user a much more consistent product, since all the ingredient mixing is done in a central location and is computer-assisted to ensure uniformity of product. A temporary batch plant  can be constructed on a large job site. A concrete plant becomes central mix with the addition of a concrete mixer.

Features :-

More precise and efficient weighing High efficiency Mixing blades made of wear resistant high hard alloys have durable and reliable performance Storage capacities of cement silo can be customized according to your demands A concrete plant can have a variety of parts and accessories, including • MIXERS :- The center of the concrete batching plant is the mixer.

Page 4: Batching plant ppt

There are three types of mixer:

Pan mixer

Twin shaft mixerThe twin shaft mixer can ensure an even mixture of concreteand large output with high quality. It consist of mixer, withCounter rotating shafts, delivers fast mixing action and rapiddischarge.

They are fast and efficient, but can be maintenance-intensive since they include several

Moving parts that are subjected to a heavy load.

Tilting drum mixer

Pan mixers are generally lower capacity mixers at about 4 to 5 yd3 and are used at precast

concrete plants.

• AGGREGATE BATCHERS :-The aggregate batching system includes aggregate supply system, weighing system and electrical control system. The feeding device is driven by conveyor belt.• CONVEYORS :-

Page 5: Batching plant ppt

• CONTROL SYSTEM :-The programmable controller can control the production process with high reliability and stability. It can control the unloading ingredients, mixing and automatic control of the whole process of the concrete.

•SILOS :- Provides bolted type and welded type storage silo in various capacities and dimensions.Bolted cement silo with special design can minimize the transport cost.

nominal capacity of cement = 10 to 75 tons and are also available till 120 tons nominal capacity of fly ash = 40 to 60 tons

•DUST COLLECTORS Used to minimize environmental pollution

APPLICATION Concrete batching plants are widely used to produce various kinds of concrete including • Quaking concrete = concrete which is used to make massive walls , abutments etc.• Hard concrete •Suitable for large or medium scale building works, road and bridge works and precast concrete plants, etc.

More recently is the availability of the MOBILE CONCRETE BATCH PLANT.• The design includes multiple containers that separately transport all the elements necessary for the production of concrete at the specific job site.• The mobile batching plant is easy to transport. It can be fixed-mounted on a truck, mounted on a truck.• In this way, the operator can produce exactly what he wants, where he wants and in the quantity he wants.

A concrete mixer primarily consists of a revolving drum, a motor, and a shaft

It is used for uniform mixing of concrete of already mixed concrete during its transit

It has a wide range of application specially for mass concreting works like Construction of Canals, Bridges, Highways, Dams, Multi-storeyed & Industrial Buildings, Factories, Airports and for Ready Mixed Concrete Works (R.M.C.), etc.

A Transit Mixer can perform the following 3 functions :-•It can mix coarse aggregates , fine aggregates, cement and water while it is moving or stationary.•It can prevent segregation of already mixed concrete during transit by agitation, as a result of slow revolution of drum.•It can completely mix the ‘shrink mixed’ concrete i.e. the concrete which is partially mixed in central batching plant and mixing plant while it is moving or stationary.

Page 9: Batching plant ppt

PARTS OF TRANSIT MIXER DRUM AND BLADESThe mixing drum is made of high abrasion resistant steel and blades of high abrasion resistant alloy steel to mix any type of ready mix concrete and to discharge it smoothly. Features :- Detachable triangle blades for good mixing performance. Option of one or two holes in the drum for easy cleaning work. HOPPERWide mouth hopper specially designed to receive sticky ready mix concrete in large quantities with ease.

HOPPER STEPS AND HANDRAIL

Layout of hopper steps and handrails are made user friendly for standing at ease for cleaning purpose ensuring better safety .Side steps made from rust proof steel are attached as a standard equipment with stripes for anti slip and fender for easy movement

SCOOPScoop is made from Abrasion resistant steel for durability and weight reduction Instead of traditional MS thick plates with liners.

CHUTEEasy to use chute made of high abrasion resistant steel is provided with two options of detachable chute extents on for smooth flow of discharged concrete.

TYPES OF MIXERS

• It is a concrete delivery vehicle used for jobs where large pour volumes are required.• Transit Mixer Trucks come in a variety of sizes, ranging from 2 cubic meters to 8 cubic meters wet concrete output, making them the ideal choice for ready-mix concrete operations.

STANDARD TRANSIT MIXER

ROUGH TERRAIN TRANSIT MIXERS • They are 4x4 wheel drive self-loading cement mixers fitted with a front operators cab.• They can climb, fully loaded with cement, over the most precarious terrains; they can load, mix, produce and discharge over 100 cubic meter of cement per day.• they have electronic weigh batching equipment, which ensures precise mixes of any grade of concrete and fitted with the drum, allowing concrete to be discharged from every side of the vehicle at heights of over 2m.•This type of concrete mixer is suited to all types of job-sites from congested city centers to remote villages - can be maneuvered around tight corners or down narrow lanes, so ideal for remote construction sites as well as those in busy urban areas.

Page 11: Batching plant ppt

VOLUMETRIC TRANSIT MIXER • Offers substantial advantages over traditional methods of concrete delivery.

• A volumetric mixer is basically a mobile truck mixer and batching plant rolled into one. All raw materials are stored in separate compartments and these are then metered and mixed into fresh cement where and when it’s needed.

• This means that there is no expensive waste of materials, as the unmixed product remains usable indefinitely.

• The volumetric concrete mixer also eliminates the need for part load charges and problems with over or under-ordering.

• Customers can estimate the amount of concrete needed and the exact quantity can be mixed on site, and they only pay for what they use. • They can supply all mixes and grades of cement, including screed and mortar.

• Mixes and grades can be switched from one customer to the next or even halfway through a job if necessary.

Page 12: Batching plant ppt

• The revolving drum is used to mix all the components of concrete.

• Inside the mixer, an operator feeds data into the mixer and several augers feed aggregate and cement together.

• Water is added to the mix and larger augers blend the components and the number of revolutions should be 70-100 rpm.

WORKING OF MIXERS

• A series of blades or a screw powered by the motor keeps the aggregate, water and cement in constant motion, this keeps the premixed concrete from setting.

• Most transit mixers have a separate water tank in the truck.

• The spinning drum keeps the dry ingredients, aggregate and cement mixing during most of the trip. The speed of the drum should be 12-14 rpm.

• The direction of the drum's spin squishes the wet concrete into the back of the mixer .

• When the mixer arrives at the site, the driver reverses the direction of the machine to push it out of the mixer to the chute.• The concrete reach the site within 1 1/2hr or 2hr depending on the atmospheric temp. CAPACITY OF AVAILABLE TRANSIT MIXERS varies from 6 cum to 10 cum, choice is available as per site requirements and concrete production rate.

Page 13: Batching plant ppt

ADVANTAGES OF MIXERS• A transit mixer provides a fast and easy way to produce concrete mixtures thereby giving an easy access for concrete mixture forming to the construction contractors when it is necessary.

• It fastens up the tasks of concrete production at sites and eliminates the problems of inefficiency in mixing, material wastage, concrete production and delivery delays at the construction sites.

• The transit mixers can be transported all around a job site and therefore allow the easier, faster and more convenient concrete production and placement at the site.

DISADVANTAGES OF MIXERS• Once the last of the concrete trickles out of the drum or dribbles out of the pump, the truck isn't empty.

• A small amount of concrete always remains inside the truck, especially in drum mixers.

• The drum mixer can be pressure washed or water can run through the drum while it rotates.

• Therefore it is usually carried out with the help of hammer & water. But some concrete is always left. And it dries and over time this becomes a problem, reducing the volume of the mixer and its capacity.• The concrete will build to a point where the only viable alternative is mechanical removal.
