Te undamental building blocks o an inantry platoon are the various types o inantry teams. Te most common ones areshown below with a brie description o their unction and organisation.

A Command team is made up o an ocer, an NCO and a rieman on

a small base. Tere are oten options to upgrade your Command teamwith a dierent weapon. o do so, simply replace the rieman with thechosen upgrade. You can see an example o this on the ollowing page.

Every army organises its platoons dierently, and the organisation diagrams reect this. For example, a Panzergrenadier

Squad in a Gepanzerte Panzergrenadier Platoon is comprised o nine men split into two teams, one o our soldiers and one ofve, yet a Panzergrenadier Squad in a motorised Panzergrenadier Platoon has eight men split into two teams o our soldiers,

while a US Rie Platoon has squads o twelve men split into three teams o our soldiers.

O course, units in combat rarely maintain their theoretical strength. We reect this by allowing you to take ewer squads. You could also show this by changing the number o soldiers in each team or otherwise varying your bases rom theseguidelines to achieve the look you want.

rifleTeams Rie teams are the basic orm o inantry. All the miniatures in a rieteam will normally be armed with ries. Some squads may have a singlemachine-gun, but its eect is diluted by the number o ries in thesquad. Base your rie teams on a medium base.

rifle/mG Teams Rie/MG teams are organised like rie teams, except that every squad otwo teams has a machine-gun. Base Rie/MG teams on a medium base

with the second base normally modelled with a crew-ed machine-gun.

mG Teams MG teams are better armed than Rie/MG teams. Every MG team hasa machine-gun. Base MG teams with a crew-ed machine-gun and twoto three riemen on a medium base.

smG Teams Some nations equipped entire platoons with submachine-guns. SMGteams are made up o miniatures armed exclusively with submachine-guns. Base SMG teams on a medium base.

Assault rie teams are usually an upgrade option. An Assault Rie teamis made up o miniatures armed exclusively with assault ries. Base

Assault Rie teams on a medium base.

pioneerTeams A Pioneer team retains the normal characteristics and basing o its type,e.g. a Rie team on a medium base, and gains combat engineering char-acteristics and abilities such as an increased anti-tank rating in assaultand the ability to clear mines and demolish ortifcations.

    Teams

Light Anti-tank teams are inantry teams made up o a miniatures armedwith a weapon like a Bazooka or PIA and a loader on a small base

anTi-TankTeams Anti-tank teams are inantry teams armed with two crew-ed anti-tankries or Panzerschreckrocket launchers. Base them on a medium base.

komissarTeams Te Soviet Army relied on political ocers to keep the soldiers o theRed Army motivated or battle. A Komissar team is modelled with akomissar and a rieman on a small base.

Each platoon diagram indicates the required squads and teams you must have to make that unit combat-worthy. roops inblack are the core o the unit. roops in grey are optional supporting weapons and vehicles that you can add to give themmore punch or mobility. Many platoons also include options allow you to improve the equipment or capabilities o some othe teams. Te platoon entry will also list the special rules that the platoon ollows.

Each platoon entry in aFlames Of Warbook reects the historical make-up o the platoon, and tells you how to base theblister or box set that represents that particular unit. Te ollowing example shows a platoon o Panzergrenadiers and how toassemble it using the contents oGBX09 Panzergrenadier Platoon.
