Do you need . . .OPTICAL TABLES
Optical tables provide a mounting surface from whichmany different types of experiments can be set up.
• Ferritic stainless steel surface for magnetic bases• Inch or metric mounting holes• Available in a variety of sizes
For more information, go to page 34.1.
Kinematic Bases These bases feature a true kinematic design which constrains
the top plate in five degrees of freedom. Magnetic couplingbetween the top and bottom plate provides the sixth constraint.Three-arc-second repeatability is provided by three stainless steelhemispheres which fit into three hardened steel grooves on theunderside of the plate.
$ The top plates are interchangeable.
$ Magnetic coupling provides clip-less removal of the top plate.
$ The bottom plate clearance holes are compatible with bothinch and metric mounting systems.
$ The bases are made of aluminum with a black-anodizedfinish.

Magnetic Bases Magnetic bases enable quick assembly and teardown of optical
experiments. The industry-standard mounting threads on theoptional top plates allow use with virtually all optical componentholders while the magnetic bottom permits quick and stable attach-ment to optical tables. Unlike screw-mounted components, whoseposition on an optical table is limited, parts mounted on magneticbases enjoy the versatility of being easily positionable to any loca-tion or orientation.

Low-Profile Magnetic Bases
Low-Profile Magnetic Bases These magnetic bases serve as a stable, low-profile mounting
base for a large variety of opto-mechanical components. The per-manent magnets provide a large holding force which may be con-tinuously varied from the off position to its maximum holdingstrength.
$ The mounting holes accept a wide variety of translation androtation stages.
$ Bases are available in standard ¼-20 on 1-inch centers orM6 on 25-mm centers.
$ Bases are made from steel with a black chrome finish.

Adaptor PlatesAdaptor plates are used to combine stages with different mount-
ing hole patterns so that they can be used together. For example, tomount a 40#40–mm translation stage with an M3 on 32-mmmounting hole pattern onto an optical table with a ¼-20 on 1-inchhole pattern, use 07 RPC 016. The common industry-standardhole patterns are as follows:
$ M6 on 50-mm centers (M6/50)—found on optical tables
$ M4 on 34-mm centers (M4/34)—found on flexure stages
$ M3 on 32-mm centers (M3/32)—found on translation stages
