Although it doesn’t seem possible that so much time has flown by, the Barron County 4-H Dog Project is proud to announce it’s upcoming celebration of 50 successful years of

existence in 2016. This program, started in 1966, is one of the longest running projects operating in Barron County. For those not familiar with the project, its sole focus is on local

youth and the development of life skills through their work with dogs. Countless former members can attest to the self-confidence, discipline and sense of worth gained from

participating in the project, along with life-long friendships made.

With our milestone year upon us, we are asking former members to share with us their most memorable 4-h Dog Project photos. Up to 4 photos can be submitted for use in a pres-entation at the celebratory banquet planned for August 10th, 2016. Submitted photos need to include the member’s name, dog’s name, and year photo(s) taken. Photos can be sent via e-mail to: [email protected] or if in print form, mailed to Arlene Poulter, 2503 14 3/4 Ave., Rice Lake, WI., 54868. Photos need to be received by June 1, 2016 and

print photos will be available for pick up at the banquet. (They can’t be returned by mail.) A CD including all photos will be available at the banquet for a $10.00 donation. All proceeds

will go to the 4-H Dog Project to help cover banquet costs.

It is said, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” It tells a story, brings back memories and lets us appreciate the past and look forward to the future. Help us celebrate our history and

build our future with your photo contribution.

Questions regarding photos, the banquet, or the program can be directed to: Arlene at 715-859-2275.

New members are always welcome!!!

When Barron County 4-H is called upon to help with fundraisers or other events, I would love to extend that opportunity to clubs that are willing and interested in helping. Please contact the office and let me know that your club is willing to be on a call list. For example, if the office is contacted to help with an event I would use this call list and contact the club next on the list. I would give them 24 hours to contact

their members to ensure availability. If they are not able to help then I would contact the club who is next on the list. This system would ensure that clubs who are willing to help are given the opportunity to help and also I am able to respond to the community in a timely fashion. Please contact Meredith Arcand to place your club on this list.
