Written by the Head Teacher:- I. SALUTE Receive greetings from PCEA Silanga High School, Kibera Parish, Nairobi, Kenya. I believe God has kept you well, as you continue to serve and wait upon Him. Here in Kibera we are fine, due to His grace and favour. II. TERM ONE 2019 This is one of the longest term in Kenya’s education calendar lasting 14 weeks, with a mid-term break in-between. The term ended on 5th April 2019, to resume on 29th April 2019, three weeks Easter holiday. Learning and teaching and other related activities continued on well during the Term despite the perennial challenges. a) Enrolment by gender and class:

CLASS BOYS GIRLS TOTAL FORM 1 08 06 14 FORM 2 07 12 19 FORM 3 19 21 40 FORM 4 15 14 29 TOTAL 49 53 102

The school continues to attract students especially transfers from other schools. This is mainly due to its Christian ideals, discipline, qualified and professional teachers and conducive learning environment. We also do lose students who transfer due to fee challenges or relocation to their rural homes. Note also that the government offers free day secondary education, and all primary school pupils are supposed to transit 100% to secondary schools. b) Syllabus coverage and other co-curricular activities These have continued on well during the Term but we still experience problems of textbooks and learning materials, shortages/inadequacy. The school also needs computers to be in line with common world trends-digital learning. Despite these challenges, pupils did perform well in their end of term tests and especially the church sponsored students, who continue to lead. This is because they do not suffer long periods of absenteeism due to fees issues. The [KCSE] candidates-2019, now totalling 29, sat for their pre-mock exams, whose results are yet to be released. These results will inform on the areas that needs to be addressed. We expect them to do better than 2018 candidates. At the time of writing this report, the 2019 Agriculture students were planting cabbages as their agriculture project practical paper. The teaching staff have been stable for most of the term and are working hard towards making sure that a holistic pupil is produced: Luke 2:52 Epilogue We are grateful and thankful for the continued support: spiritual, moral and material received. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL. AMEN
