History
Long time ago the inhabitants of this barangay had access to trade from the other part
of Calamian Groups of Island and probably even with the foreign traders like Chinese. According
to the narrative account of the older residents the name Pical came from Percal- a kind of cloth
that Spanish traders brought to this island. As years passed by Percal was shortened to Pical.
Barangay Pical is bounded on the north by Barangay Barangonan; east, Sulu Sea; west,
West Philippine Sea, and in the south by the municipality of Taytay, Palawan. Seventy percent
(70%) of its population belong to Tagbanua tribe.
Catholic is the dominant religion of the inhabitants. They celebrate their fiesta during
May 21-22 in honor of Sta. Rita of Casia as their patron saint.
