COURSE TITLE : Barangay Health Service NC II
NOMINAL DURATION : 560 Hours
COURSE DESCRIPTION :
The course is designed to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes of Barangay Health Service NC II in accordance with industry standards. It covers core competencies to: work within a holistic community development framework, prepare for worker in the community service industry, support community resources, provide primary residential care, support community participations, recruit and coordinate project and implement health promotion and community intervention.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Trainees or students wishing to enroll in this course qualification should possess the following requirements:
16 years old and above Must pass the trainability/aptitude test Can communicate effectively both orally and in written form Physically, emotionally and mentally fit Can perform basic mathematical computation Preferably based in a certain barangay With good reputation in the community
This list does not include specific institutional requirements such as educational attainment, appropriate work experience, and others that may be required of the trainees by the school or training center delivery this TVET program.

This unit does not apply to a role with organization-wide responsibilities for infection control policy and procedure development, implementation or monitoring.

UNIT OF COMPETENCY : RESPOND HOLISTICALLY TO CLIENT ISSUES
MODULE TITLE : RESPONDING HOLISTICALLY TO CLIENT ISSUES
MODULE DESCRIPTOR : This unit of competency covers the knowledge, skills and attitude required in assisting clients to address their own issues. On completion of this unit the worker will be able to respond appropriately to clients that have complex issues outside in addition to the area of immediate focus, or interest of the worker or organization. For instance, the worker might work for an agency, and possess relevant competence in the area of child protection, and still be able to identify when say, an alcohol and other drug issues important in the life of a presenting client.Completion of this unit will also provide the worker with competencies to make decisions as to whether to refer or retain the client; whether a brief intervention is appropriate (instead of an immediate referral). The worker will be able to implement and monitor brief intervention strategies in a variety of community service contexts, with the primary aim of helping the client accept the intervention.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
1. Project plan is developed in consultation with key people and organizations and identify priorities and desired outcomes to address issues of concerns of target group/s
2. Appropriate human, financial and physical resources are identified and secured3. Marketing materials are prepared and disseminated to target audience and
others as appropriate

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
1. Strategies for delivery of the project are developed and implemented to ensure maximum effectiveness
2. Education / resource materials appropriate to the context, issue and audience are developed and distributed
3. Strategies are implemented to encourage full participation in the project and the expression of views and feelings about its process or content
4. Project adjustments are made as required to meet the needs of specific group5. Feedback on the education project or activity is sought from participants.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
1. The education project is assessed against the planned goals and objectives in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
2. Outcomes of project evaluations are discussed with key people and organizations to determine future directions
3. Education project outcomes are documented and where necessary are acted on in accordance with organizational procedures

MODULE TITLE : IMPLEMENTING HEALTH PROMOTION AND COMMUNITY INTERVENTIONS
MODULE DESCRIPTOR : This unit of competency covers the knowledge, skills and attitude required to implement health promotion and community intervention. It covers the setting up, devising, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating health promotion and community intervention program in working with the community to develop and provide education projects in relevant issues.
NOMINAL DURATION : 60 hours
QUALIFICATION LEVEL : NC II

1. Criteria to judge the effectiveness of the program are defined in consultation with clients and stakeholders
2. Appropriate evaluation strategies are used routinely during and after the program and used for revision and development
3. Evaluation information is collected, organized and reported in a format which is accessible and meaningful to the clients and stakeholders
4. Reports are prepared and presented as required.

What is Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC)
A competency-based curriculum is a framework or guide for the subsequent detailed development of competencies, associated methodologies, training and assessment resources.
The CBC specifies the outcomes which are consistent with the requirements of the workplace as agreed through the industry or community consultations.
CBC can be developed immediately when competency standards exist.
When competency standards do not exist, curriculum developers need to clearly define the learning outcomes to be attained. The standard of performance required must be appropriate to industry and occupational needs through the industry/enterprise or specified client group consultations.
