The important thing to realize is that stains—no matter how tough—can usually be made to come out with the right tools and a little know-how. The following tactics will help you beat a tough stain.

Tips for Stain Removal After the stain has occurred, run to the sink and grab

a damp sponge or cloth.

Blot the stain, being careful not to rub—rubbing only reinforces the stain.

Afterward, find some talcum powder (or cornstarch) and sprinkle it on the stain to aid with absorption. A baking soda paste may also be used.

Finally, treat the area with a combination of liquid dish soap and hydrogen peroxide. Use a commercial stain remover if necessary.
