Introduction

The BACnet interface system shall be an Amico Alert-1 series. The BACnet Interface Module provides a convenient method of interfacing Amico Master Alarm to building automation systems that utilizes BACnet technology. The BACnet interface complies with BACnet/IP as defined in ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 135-2004. It is composed of a 3rd party BACnet devices wired and configured to translate dry-contacts signal from Amico Master Alarm panel to a BACnet/IP format which can be access with any BACnet/IP server.

The BACnet system can handle up to 30 master alarm points, each master circuit board needs a computer interface to communicate from the Master to BACnet device.

FEATURES INCLUDE:

• Network accessible I/O with built-in 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port

• Supports BACnet/IP

• Adheres to BACnet Application Specific Controller (B-ASC) profile

• Supports up to 30 Master Alarm inputs

• Low-voltage 24 VAC or VDC powered

• LED indicators for inputs, outputs, CPU status, and Ethernet activity/link/data rate

NOTE:

• If more information is required about this BASremote Device, the Contemporary Control installation guide, BASremote user manual and data sheet will be provided.

• The Contemporary Control web Link: https://www.ccontrols.com/basautomation/basremote.php

SHIPMENT DETAILS

When you receive the BACnet alarm from Amico Corporation, the package will consist of two main sections; the BACnet Alarm Back Box and the Frame Assembly. The BACnet back box assembly will be pre-configured, with the appropriate modules, based upon the customer’s specifications.

THE BACNET ALARM BACK BOX

The BACnet Alarm Back Box contains the auto-switchable System Power Supply with an ON/OFF switch, a built-in fuse and terminal block (115 VAC, or 220 VAC). This design will reduce installation time and eliminate the risk of improper installation since all the modules are connected and tested at the factory

THE FRAME ASSEMBLY

The Frame Assembly consists of the BACnet frame with screws to mount.

SYSTEM POWER SUPPLY

The System Power Supply has been pre-installed into the back box assembly. The System Power Supply converts the AC voltage supply to the alarm into DC voltages: 24 VDC (regulated) required by BACnet Device. This unit also contains the main ON/OFF power switch, the transformer, the heat sink, the main fuse and fuse holder. The System Power Supply can be easily removed and reinstalled by unscrewing it from the back box.

BASREMOTE MASTER DEVICE

The BASremote Master provides the ultimate in flexibility. It can be used for expansion I/O at remote locations where an Ethernet connection exists. Its built-in router and gateway capabilities address unique integration needs where more than one communications protocol is involved. It can operate as BACnet/IP and Modbus TCP remote I/O, Sedona Framework controller, Modbus Serial to Modbus TCP router, Modbus Serial to BACnet gateway, and Modbus master to attach Modbus slaves all at the same time. A 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port allows connection to IP networks and popular building automation protocols such as Modbus TCP, BACnet/IP, and Sedona SOX. Six universal I/O points can be configured through resident web pages using a standard web browser and without the need of a special programming tool, your IT department can easily interact with the BASremote Master.

BASREMOTE EXPANSION DEVICE

The BASremote Expansion devices can communicate with Master device, up to 3 Expansion devices can be connected with Master Device. Each device has up to six universal I/O points. It’s an additional universal I/O can be achieved with the simple addition of BASremote Expansion modules. The BASremote PoE has the same capabilities as the BASremote Master except it is powered over the Ethernet connection thereby providing a "One Cable Solution".

BACNET ALARM BOX

Static Electricity, Discharge body static before opening/installing the device

The Amico BACnet is shipped in one container holding two separate packages. One package contains the BACnet. The other package contains the window and the frame assembly.

Install the BACnet back-box to the studs of the wall at the desired height. Ensure that the box is securely in place. The mounting brackets are adjustable to suit the thickness of the wall. MAKE SURE the box is squared and flush with the finished wall surface, to ensure that the frame assembly will fit properly. The recommended mounting is 66" (1676 mm) from the top of the BACnet box to the finished floor.

NOTE:

The Power Supply, BASremote Master and BASremote Expansion devices are pre-tested and mounted inside the BACnet alarm box.

Wiring

SYSTEM POWER SUPPLY

TURN OFF THE POWER SWITCH BEFORE CHANGING ANY MODULES AND/OR DISCONNECTING ANY CABLES, OR ELSE THE FUSE WILL BLOW TO PROTECT THE CIRCUITRY.

1. Ensure that the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position.

2. Through the top left side of the back box, bring in the AC power wires. Knockouts are provided for making conduit connections to the box. All wiring is to be installed according to local and national codes.

3. Connect the AC power to the terminal blocks as shown in the wiring diagram in Appendix A and as specified in the technical specification.

4. To protect from static electricity, ensure to discharge body static before installing the BACnet Device and connecting Source Equipment signal wires

BASREMOTE MASTER/EXPANSION DEVICE

Low Voltages Wires:

1. Pull the dry-contact signal wires from computer interface module into the BASremote Master/Expansion device’s terminals. Make the connections to the terminal blocks located on the side of the module as labeled. The wiring is fail-safe normally closed (NC) connections from the source equipment. The signal level is 5 VDC.

2. Make the appropriate wiring connections as per Appendix D & E.

3. These devices should be connected with a #22 gauge standard wires from sources or Master alarm Computer interface module. Make sure the polarity (+ & -) on each channel.

CAT-5 Cable:

The 2 CAT-5 cables can be connected from each BASremote Master Device to a PC, laptop, or server to monitor by BMS or any similar system. Please refer to wiring Appendix F.

Note: To turn ON power and make sure all LEDs are devices are powered up and flashed.

Status: During boot-up, this LED flashes green. Once all files are loaded, it glows solid green to indicate the unit is operational.

Ethernet: This LED glows if a valid link exists to an operating Ethernet device. It indicates speed by colour green for 100 Mbps and yellow for 10 Mbps.

I/O: Each of these LEDs glows green when the associated I/O point is in alarm condition (ON) and normal condition LED will be clear (OFF).

Configuration

SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

Before the BACnet connects to BMS server system. It is recommended to test with laptop or PC to make sure all contacts work. To test this BACnet device, Java software should be installed before it disconnects from Internet. Download the Java program base on your operating system for initial setup (www.java.com recommends Windows 10). Once the Java program is downloaded, make sure to disconnect internet connection.

NOTE: The PC should be temporarily disconnected from the Ethernet/LAN in case the master’s default address matches that of a device on the existing LAN. The procedure for altering the IP address creates a temporary LAN composed of nothing but the master, the PC used to configure it with a CAT5 cable connecting the two.

To Change IP & Subnet Addresses:

Control Panel > Network and Sharing System > Ethernet / LAN > Properties > Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPV4) > Select “Use the following IP address” > IP address: 192.168.92.100 and Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
