BACHELOR OF INTERNATIONAL & SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS

Business as a CareerAs an individual, you will have to consider career options and choose the right t for you that would help you sustain your living. The framework of business can be found in the foundation of every industry, career and job that exist because of the principles needed to ensure that one’s organization is a success. Business is all about:

• Risk and Judgment• Problem solving, decision making and Logical thinking• Self-motivation, initiative, and effective time management• Culture and History of People• Family-owned business • Leadership and management

The Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business began as the Institute of Business, University of the West Indies (UWI-IOB). The institution was founded on December 14th, 1989 as a joint venture between the University of the West Indies (UWI) and the Trinidad and Tobago private sector. Its purpose was to deliver postgraduate business and management education designed to meet the emergent needs of the business community. It was intended to ll the strategic gap that existed in The University of the West Indies’ business education offerings.

At the same time, local companies were challenged to nd managers of high caliber; able to apply ideas to deal with the challenges of the economy and possessing a strong proactive spirit of enterprise. Solutions had to be found to ll that gap and to meet the new and increasingly intense competitive challenges.

Inuenced by the foregoing, a private sector coalition approached The University of the West Indies with the view to establish an institute for postgraduate management education. They proposed that the institution be funded by the private sector and accredited by the university. The new organization was seen as the link between the private sector and The University and was established to educate business professionals and public sector managers.
