What is S.T.E.A.M.? "STEAM is an educational approach to learning that
uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as
access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.
The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in
experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration,
and work through the creative process. These are the innovators,
educators, leaders, and learners of the 21st century!"

This year Marbut is moving forward with our efforts to become a
S.T.E.A.M. certified school. These efforts are being led by our S.T.E.A.M.
lab teacher, Mrs. Lindsey and our Art/Design lab teacher, Mrs. Chester-
Benton. Our entire school is involved in this process of providing students
with a monthly focus in the areas of science, technology, engineering, art
and mathematics. We believe that becoming S.T.E.A.M. certified will
help further prepare our students for the careers of the future. We
envision our students building websites, creating apps, designing new
technology, and functional artwork in the years to come.
How You Can Help
As we begin to have our school wide S.T.E.A.M. days, we may ask you to
contribute donations of materials or your time to assist us in providing
S.T.E.A.M. stations where students engage in science related activities.

What websites would you suggest for weekend or evening practice inmath or reading? 4. What are my child's strengths? 5. Is my child checking out books and taking A.R. tests? How often?
Focused on Instruction
Thank you students, teachers and parents!
Persistence: Continuing a course of action
despite difficulty or opposition. Example: "Successful studentsshow persistence when solving
problems."
