Tooth decay is one of the most preventable diseases in children. Children, from the eruption of their first tooth, can get cavities. Cavities can cause pain and prevent children from being able to eat, speak, sleep and learn properly. Fluoride varnish strengthens a child’s teeth. The stronger the teeth are, the less chance the child will get cavities. Forms where sent home. Please complete forms and return to your child’s B.O.L.T. teacher. If you have any of these items and would like to donate them to the afterschool program, please send them to Mrs. Neumann at the elementary school. These supplies will be used for building fair projects throughout the year. On October 23, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Schools hosted an iPad parent information session presented by technologists Mitchell Ganske and Dave Nelson (pictured on the right). This event was part of a national celebration of the afterschool programs that keeps kids safe, inspires learning and helps working families. Chess Club and LEGO League are off to a great start.

Chess Club is offered to grades 6,7,8, and 9. LEGO

League is offered to grades 7-8. Cooking Club is offered

to grades 7-12. If you are interested in joining, forms

are available in the office or on the school website at

www.lpge.org. Go to Community Education and click

on 21st Century Community Learning Center.

Who may attend? Any qualifying student in grades 1-8.

What time is the program? The program starts immediately after school, grades 1-6 until

5:15 p.m. and grades 7-8 until 5:25 p.m.

What is the cost? B.O.L.T. is FREE!

Must a student attend every day? Students may register for 1, 2, or 3 nights.

Students must attend on days registered unless excused.

Is bus transportation available? Yes, late buses leave the elementary building at 5:20 p.m. and

the secondary building at 5:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and

Thursdays. For bus information and questions call Mike or

B.O.L.T

B.O.L.T. (Building Opportunities for Learning Together) is a free,

after-school academic program for Long Prairie-Grey Eagle stu-

dents in grades 1-8. Classes meet Mondays (grades 1-8), Tuesdays

(grades 3-8), and Thursdays (grades 1-8) after school.

B.O.L.T. provides additional academic opportunities during non-

school hours for students. The program aims to help students meet

state and local standards in core academic subjects, such as reading

and math. B.O.L.T. offers students a broad array of enrichment ac-

tivities that compliment their regular academic program. It also

offers literacy and other educational services to the families of par-

ticipating children.

B.O.L.T. is taught by licensed teachers who focus on academic and

social skills. Each session begins with a nutritious snack followed

by classroom time and enrichment activities. Students may ride the

activity bus home. Registration forms are available in the elemen-

tary and secondary school office or online.

Se ofrecerá barniz dental GRATUITO a todos los estudiantes de BOLT. ¿Por qué se lo recomineda? Las

caries son una de las enfermedades más prevenibles en los niños. Desde la salida del primer diente los

niños pueden tener caries y pueden causar dolor y no les permiten comer, hablar, o aprender apropiada-

mente. El barniz dental con floruro fortalice los dientes de los niños. Las formas deben ser entregadas en

BOLT.

El boletín Thunder B.O.L.T. será publicado en el otoño, invierno y primavera y será distribuido a los estudiantes.

El 23 de Octubre, la Escuela de Long Priarie-Grey Eagle auspició una sesión de información sobre el

iPad para padres presentada por los expertos Mitchell Ganske y Dave Nelson (foto derecha). Este evento

fue parte de una celebración nacional de los programas de después de escuela que mantienen a los niños

seguros, inspirados a aprender y ayuda a las familias que trabajan. Este evento fue asupiciado por Cen-

tros de Aprendizaje Comunitario del Siglo 21, Educación Comunitaria y Title 1. Arriba se encuentra un

poster creado por los estudiantes de después de escuela B.O.L.T.

INFORMACION DE CONTACTO DURANTE BOLT

B.O.L.T. (Construyendo Oportunida-des para Aprender Juntos) es

un pro-grama académico gratis de después de escuela para los

estudiantes de Long Prairie-Grey Eagle en los gra-dos 1-8. Las

clases son los lunes (grados 1-8), martes (grados 3-8), y jueves

(grados 1-8), los grados 1-6 hasta las 5:15 pm y los grados 7-8

hasta las 5:25 pm.

B.O.L.T. ofrece oportunidades académicas adicionales para estu-

diantes fuera de las horas de la escuela. El programa tiene como

meta ayudar a los estudiantes a alcanzar los estándares de las ma-

terias académicas principales, como lectura y matemáticas.

B.O.L.T. ofrece a los estudiantes una amplia variedad de activida-

des de enriquecimiento que complementan el programa regular

académico. También ofrece alfabetización y otros servicios educa-

cionales para las familias de los niños participando.

Maestros licenciados enseñan B.O.L.T. y se enfocan en las habili-

dades académicas y sociales. Cada sesión comienza con un bocado

nutritivo seguido de tiempo en la clase y actividades de enriqueci-

miento. Los estudiantes pueden irse a casa en el autobús de activi-

dades. Los formularios de registración están disponibles en las

oficinas de las escuelas primarias y media, o en internet bajo

El Club del Ajedrez y la Liga de LEGO han tenido un

buen comienzo. El Club del Ajedrez es ofrecido a los

grados 6, 7, 8 y 9. La Liga LEGO es ofrecida a los gra-

dos 7-8. Si estás interesado en participar, las formas

están disponibles en la oficina o en la página web de la

escuela www.lpge.org. Entra a Community Education y

luego entra a 21st Century Community Learning Center.
