Monday Introduce the ‘zz’ digraph.

Make a list of words

containing this digraph.

(Digraph – 2 letters that make

1 sound)

If you have internet access

watch videos on youtube (Epic

Phonics, Geraldine the

giraffe).

Also access Espresso and

Phonics Play websites.

Recognising numbers to 20 and

saying one more and one less.

Count to 20 together.

With your child make a number line

1-20 on a piece of paper or using

number magnets/number cards

whatever you have at home.

Ask your child to point out a

variety of numbers (not in order).

E.g. can you find number 9, 11, 4,

19? etc.

Once your child is confident

recognising numbers to 20 ask

them to point to a given number

and ask them what is one more and

one less using the number line to

help.

**this can be extended to 30 for

more of a challenge if needed.

Read the story ‘The Very Hungry

Caterpillar’ if you have it or watch

This is something you could do

daily if you would like. What day is

Discuss months of the year- how

many months do we have? Can you

Introduce describing words to your

Page 2: ‘zz’ Read the story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ if you ... · Write a food menu for ‘The Very hungry Caterpillar’. Use the sheet from beginning of the week to help with

Discuss money – what is money?

What do we use it for? Where do

we get money from? Where do we

keep it?

Type in recognising coins on

YouTube and look at a money Video

that highlights different coins.

Look in purses/money box at home

and find some coins, 1p, 2p, 5p,

10p, 20p, 50, £1, £2.

Discuss their values- what does

that mean?

Talk about the sizes, shapes and

colours and distinguishing features

that may help recognise different

coins.

Write a food menu for ‘The Very

hungry Caterpillar’. Use the sheet

from beginning of the week to help

with writing this.

Give your restaurant a name

Caterpillar Café
