Tawazun Industrial Park – Abu Dhabi, UAE Tawazun Industrial Park was dsigned to be the leading light industrial – defense manufacturing cluster in the GCC region, providing a combination of facilities. The Park would incorporate light manufacturing areas, logistics and warehousing, and a town center to service the workers population with full amenities such as mosques, playfields, bike routes etc. A preliminary research of targeted investors was facilitated to understand the requirements of such industries in terms of space, utility demands, and manpower and use that information into the design. My role in this masterplan was to assist the project manager in the delivery of the tasks on time, liaise with the client and the relevant stakeholders for the needs of the project, and prepare the reports and the presentations to the clients. lot Development Guidelines, Parcelization Plans and Operrational Manual were included in the deliverables of this project.

Serena Development – Dubai, UAE Serena is a high quality residential community with exceptional amenities and livable open spaces . It is located in Dubailand, along Emirates Road and covers an area of 77 Ha. The project is targeting to accommodate 1,700 residential units of townhome typologies, with an approximate population of 7,400 residents. The responsibilities in this project were to prepare the Masterplan for submission to the authorities, prepare the development statistics tables and the presentation layout. In addition, I assisted in the graphics section for the presentation .

Culture Village Phase 2– Dubai, UAE The Culture Village Phase-2 project, one of six phases in 2.4 sq.km, located on the Dubai Creek between Business Bay Crossing and the proposed 6th Crossing, affords a level of natural assets, physical prominence and commercial prestige few other projects in Dubai can offer. Parsons International was commissioned by Dubai Properties Group to validate an existing master plan and prepare a detailed master plan and infrastructure design. My role as an Urban Planner was to assist in the Dubai Municipality regulatory compliance of the proposed masterplan, prepare the development statistics reports, review the proposed design of the wterfont area and coordinate with the technical disciplines for the elaboration of the masterplan.

Ministry Of Housing (MOH) Residential Development – Saudi Arabia In November 2011, the Saudi Minisry Of Housing announced a mega project. The overall target was to deveop 11 sites, in order to provide approximately 500,000 residential units and supporting civic facilities, such as schools, hospitals, parks and recreation centers, police and fire stations, sports facilities etc. Working for Parsons, Dubai, it was my first project in the Middle East, as an Urban Planner/ GIS specialist. Key responsibilitites were to produce development statistics reports, provide GIS based technical evaluation on masterplanning implementation, finalize the urban design and create GIS database for the project.

Dubailand Residential Complex (DLRC)– Dubai, UAE DLRC has been developed as a predominantly residential community with some mixed-use development. The original master plan and infrastructure design was carried out in 2005 and construction of the infrastructure network was completed in 2008. The development is partially constructed and the plots are mostly sold out to investors. Some plots are still available which are being considered for modification to suit current market conditions. Key responsibilities included the preparation of the plot Development Guidelines, the research and test of different urban design typologies, the preparation of the Detailed Masterplan submission to the authorities and follow up for approvals and affection plans release.

Al Khail Gate– Dubai, UAE Dubai Properties group commissioned Parsons International in February 2014 to undertake consultancy services for the Master Plan and Infrastructure Modification, Assessment, design and construction supervision services for the 12 hectare Internal and External plots within the Al Khail Gate Development project. The proposed development will also include a community centre retail, mixeduse development and residential apartments to complement the existing community. The Al Khail Gate Project by Dubai Properties Group (DPG), previously referred as Al Quoz Land Development is a residential housing development offering attractive modern apartments inhabited by around 25,000 residents, covering some 707,870 m2 and providing approximately 9,500 residential units in 82 buildings. My role as an Urban Planner included the analysis of the existing development and evaluate the constraints and opportunities that were presented. In addition, I was involved in the Urban Design for the new development, ensuring that the project will comply with Dubai Municipality Standards and delivering the required statistics reports.

Qetaifan Islands– Doha, Qatar Parsons was commissioned by Lusail Real Estate Development Company (LREDC) in August 2012, to complete a concept and final master plan for the Qetaifan Islands. Parsons’ design approach to the Qetaifan Islands master plan involves the validation of current proposals by analyzing the physical site characteristics, defining guiding design principles, and critically studying the current master plan design. The project task is to propose a comprehensive concept master plan and over arching architectural themes for different precincts/neighborhoods and supporting public realm designs with alternative approaches to island character. Parsons designed the master plan for the 270 hectare man-made islands. My role as an Urban Planner in this project included the preparation of the development statistics and Land use budget tables. Additionally, I participated in the Design Guidelines Manual that is the textbook which controls all construction activity related to the developable land of the project.

Tawazun Safety Security and Disaster Management City Masterplan – Abu Dhabi, UAE The project scope was to develop a state of the art training complex for authorities operating in the fields of safety, security and civil care . The site, is located within ICAD area, and during the masterplan process the planning team had to examine constraints attached to the operational character of the project. My role, as an Urban Planner, was to liaise with the team of Industrial Planners, in order to ellaborate the masterplan report for submission to the Abu Dhabi Authorities and deliver land use maps and statistics reports as per requirements.

Pelasgia Spatial Development & Land Use Plan - Greece Municipality of Pelasgia is located in Central Greece, near Lamia and is characterized as an agricultural area. It is consisted of four small towns, and the local economy is based on Agriculture and some recreation activities along the coast. My job role in this project was to work as an Urban Planner, member of the Kourounis, Patia &Associates firm. Some of my responsibilities were to evaluate the existing land use data, and work with senior planners to develop a strategic Land Use Plan for the development of the area, considering urban development, rural land use and economic data. After the finalization of the plan and the report, all were submitted to the Prefecture of Central Greece for Approvals.

Asklipios Private Ekistic Development Plan -Glyfa, Greece This project was owned by “Asklipios”, a building cooperation, to develop a small private area near Glyfa, in the countryside of Pelasgia, into an ekistic masterplan. The development, faced challenges with utilities and road infrastructure, and the topography of the area. My role in this project was to work as an Urban Planner/ Designer, in Kourounis Patia & Associate Planning firm. My major responsibilities were the design of the city plan, and the Plot Development Guidelines Manual. The Proposed Land Use Plan met the client's objectives, and the Plot Development Guidelines Manual provided the framework for the optimal plot utilization. Additionally, I worked on GIS to produce the slope analysis maps that were used for the ROW design.

Tymfristos Community Spatial and Land Use development Plan - Greece

Tymfristos Community is a small mountainous settlement, located in central Greece, near Lamia. The economy of the area is based on cattle breeding and some small manufacturing enterprises. The terrain is characterized by high slopes and very interesting mountainous wildlife, suitable for the development of mountainous tourism. In this project, I participated as an Urban Planner in Kourounis, Patia & Associates Planning firm, in the latter phase of the study. My responsibilities included the determination of the land use zoning throughout the Municipality’s administrative boundaries, the Updating of the Geographical Databases with ArcGIS, and the provision of proposed Land Use maps.
