WELCOME… Welcome to our November Newsletter! There’s
plenty to celebrate this month what with Bonfire
Night, the start of Advent and St. Andrews Day.
We also take time to stop, reflect and
remember on 11th, as we commemorate those
who fought for our freedom and who served in
the armed forces.
I’d like to say a HUGE thank you to all that came
to our Fantastic Halloween themed Bistro night,
it certainly was a night to remember, and we
raised £320, for our resident’s fund! Thank you!
Relatives and friends: If you would like to receive your own copy of our update letter, please leave your email address with reception

Quote of the Month from Resident Volunteer
Bryan Barnes… **This one’s a little cheeky **
Sir Humphrey: The only way to understand the Press is to
remember that they pander to their readers' prejudices.
Jim Hacker: Don't tell me about the Press. I know *exactly*
who reads the papers. The Daily Mirror is read by the people
who think they run the country. The Guardian is read by
people who think they *ought* to run the country. The Times
is read by the people who actually *do* run the country. The
Daily Mail is read by the wives of the people who run the
country. The Financial Times is read by people who *own* the
country. The Morning Star is read by people who think the
country ought to be run by *another* country. The Daily
Telegraph is read by the people who think it is.
Sir Humphrey: Prime Minister, what about the people who
read The Sun?
Bernard Woolley: Sun readers don't care *who* runs the
country - as long as she's got big breasts!

November Words…
"How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colours gleaming in the sun.
At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow."

Life Story:
It’s so so important that
we receive as much
information about your
loved one as possible in
order for us to keep their
care person centered. In
line with this the Activity
Team require a “life
story” from each resident,
be it a story or bullet
points this information is
not only lovely to read but
it gives us a bit more of an
insight into their life.
Please feel free to email,
or write me a brief life
history for me to put in
there care plans
Thank you for your kind support

paid for in cash on the day; please
see the Activity Program for your Suites next Lunch club date and time

Baby Therapy at Avery House …
Why do we give our residents lifelike dolls to
care for and love? The dolls can become an
integral part of a Residents life, as caring for the
doll becomes a major part of their day to day
responsibilities. This type of therapy is also said
to bring back happy memories of early
parenthood and help make residents feel needed
and useful. A study completed in 2007 found that
using the Dolls increased positive behaviors in
Residents, with researchers concluding that
the therapy is an effective approach in caring for
Residents with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
