Prlogo

En este curso se proporciona muchsima prctica de pronunciacin. Los idiomas se aprenden mejor cuando practican que cuando se estudian. Lo que queremos decir es que una vez que usted conoce por ejemplomayora de las reglas que gobiernan la pronunciacin del ingls, solamente ha dado el primer paso. Si estreglas no se aplican a la vida real, o sea, al idioma cotidiano, y si no se le ofrece al estudiante una gran variedde casos donde pueda escuchar palabras que siguen estas reglas, no va a poder pronunciar bien. Este cuproporciona ejemplos de palabras y frases comunes que son aleccionadoras, o sea, que ejemplifican bien

reglas de pronunciacin del ingls. Se ofrece una palabra o frase, se da su equivalente en espaol y entoncesusa esa palabra o frase en una oracin grabada lentamente. Luego se ofrece esta oracin con la entonacivelocidad normal del idioma hablado. Le sigue una traduccin de la oracin y luego su Tutor le explica en espalo que de importante tiene este ejemplo.

PAUTAS PARA APROVECHAR ESTE CURSO

1. En ingls el principal problema son las vocales, que tienen sonidos largos o dobles, como a /i/qsuena como dos vocales en espaol. Estos sonidos largos los representamos simplemente con d

vocales. Tambin hay sonidos cortos, como el de uen but, /bot/que representamos con una svocal, pero hay sonidos cortos que son una mezcla de dos vocales, por ejemplo apple /Aepol/.

estos sonidos predomina la vocal que se muestra en Mayscula, mientras que el sonido que le sigen minscula lo describimos como una pizca de e, en este caso. Claro est que estos sonidos vocal mezclados no existen normalmente en espaol. Es importante que no pronuncie/aepol/cosi fueran dos vocales. Debe pronunciar/Aepol/

2. Otra consideracin importante que afecta la pronunciacin de las vocales es examinar si encuentran en una slaba abierta o cerrada. Su Tutor le va a dar explicaciones utilizando estos dtrminos, slaba abierta y slaba cerrada. La slaba abierta es aquella que termina en vocal y la slacerrada es la que termina en consonante.

3. En slaba cerrada la vocal lleva sonido corto y en slaba abierta la vocal lleva sonido largo.

4. La letra e es siempre silente, excepto en palabras extranjeras.

5. Cuando una palabra termina en Consonante + e silente, la vocal anterior ser larga, a pesar de queencuentre en una slaba cerrada.

6. La consonante ms diferente al espaol es la rque no es ni ere ni erre.La representamos couna rsubrayada/r/.La rdetrs de una vocal cambia el sonido de esa vocal, casi siempre a/e/coen turn/tern/.En fontica a este fenmeno se le llama r-controlled words.

7. Otro fenmeno de la fontica inglesa es el sonido de schwa, que aparece varias veces en ecurso. Las letras schwlo describen.

8. Smbolos fonticos usados. La r inglesa r. La th inglesa ztal como se pronuncia en Espaa.z inglesa s. La g fuerte y. La h inglesa j.

9. Desde luego la transcripcin fontica que aparece en esta Gua es slo una aproximacin. La ventde tener un curso en audio es precisamente que usted va a poder escuchar y repetir la pronunciacde las palabras pronunciadas por un nativo de lengua inglesa. La prctica es el mejor mtodo de fijapronunciacin y la entonacin.
