Our approach

Children’s home

Aurora Meldreth Manor School provides students with a needs-led curriculum covering 7 key areas of learning. For students working within the sensory curriculum these are: communication, cognition, environmental control technology, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, self-help and self-advocacy.

For students working within the semi-formal curriculum which are; communication and language, physical development, personal, social and

emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, expressive arts and design.

Teachers ensure the curriculum is carefully planned around a three term cycle to address each students’ individual strengths and areas for development.

Students are placed in class groups and residential flats according to their main area of difficulty, their level of understanding, communication and sensory needs. This allows them to

access the most appropriate living and learning environments and to make the best possible personal progress.

With our highly skilled teachers and therapist, we aim to provide each student with memorable, meaningful, stimulating and enjoyable learning experiences everyday, helping them to develop their self-esteem and personal independence.

We finally found somewhere where the staff actually think of my son’s needs first, not their own, and what works for him rather than what works for them.Parent

Teachers have a very thorough knowledge of each pupil’s sensory needs and their prior learning.Ofsted
