Lakewood Ranch Community Activities (LWRCA) was created by Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, Inc. in the year 2000 to ensure Lakewood Ranch had a social structure for residents. LWRCA is a 501c not-for-profit corporation supported by Lakewood Ranch residents and community sponsors. Our mission is to enrich Lakewood Ranch by fostering a sense of community and friendships through four main areas of focus:

• Community Events - We host many of the large community events you’ve come to love such as BooFest, Tribute to Heroes Parade, Irish Celtic Festival, and Holidays Around the Ranch, just to name a few.

• Community Groups and Clubs - We help organize and promote over 60 community groups and clubs.

• Parks & Recreation Program - We activate our community parks through this dynamic recreation program.

• Virtual Programming - Our LWR 101: Resident Orientation is one of our signature programs, in addition to guided meditations, art lessons, and many more!

Sports are fun and they should be kept that way! They keep kids physically active and help build strong social, teamwork and leadership skills. But the reality is, kids are quitting sports

because the increased pressure of competition can make them less enjoyable.

All-In Youth Play is an inclusive youth program that encourages a love for movement, play, skill-building and teamwork, with fun being the main goal regardless of skill level.

KIDS YOGA | AGES 5-9Join us for a mindful morning filled with movement! Yoga instructor Jessica will lead this yoga series designed just for kids. Yoga will be infused with music, storytelling and arts!

SOCCER 4 PEEWEE | AGES 3-5Bring your little ones out for this introductory soccer program led by our Park Activities Director.

TEEN YOGA | AGES 12+Teens will be guided through a variety of postures and breathing exercises to keep them actively interested, en-gaged, and challenged. They’ll have fun getting fit, improving strength, balance, flexibility and endurance.

TENNIS 4 KIDS | AGES 9-12This introductory tennis program for kids is suitable for all experience and fitness levels. We will teach them the skills needed to play a game! Make sure to bring your own racket.

VOLLEYBALL 4 KIDS | AGES 7-12Kids will learn the basics of volleyball in a positive setting and then be split into two teams for a casual game.

FLOWER CROWNS | AGES 6-10Kids will design their own flower crowns using tissue paper flowers. They will also have the option to create an origami flower to hold.

INTERACTIVE ART FOR KIDS | AGES 7-12This interactive Art for Kids class is suitable for all experience and skill levels.

INTRO TO BRACELET MAKING | AGES 5-12Participants will get to choose 22 beads to create their own one of a kind gemstone bracelet. Younger students will create a stretchy version while older participants will be able to learn a sliding knot technique.

INTRO TO NECKLACE MAKING | AGES 5-12Kids ages 5-12 can join us for an intro jewelry making class that will leave them with new skills and a new, fun hobby!

MEET THE TEAM

Chris moved to Lakewood Ranch in 2015. In his position for Lakewood Ranch Community Activities, he leads some of our most engaging programs for residents like ‘Intro to Disc Golf’ and ‘Community Bingo,’ and you can find him out at most of our events. A graduate and former athlete at the University of Tennessee, Chris now lives in Lakewood Ranch with his wife, Jessi, and their daughter, Josie.

Aliye is a Florida native through and through, born and raised in Sarasota and an avid kayaker. In her position for Lakewood Ranch Community Activities, she handles company communications including social media and the weekly “What’s Happening Around the Ranch” newsletter. Aliye graduated from The University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s of Science in Integrated Public Relations and Advertising.

Keith is dedicated to being a connector and ambassador for the local community. Keith was recognized in 2016 by Busi-ness Observer as a 40 Under 40, and the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance as Young Professional of the Year in 2017, for his work in the small business and not-for-profit community. He has a focus on connecting with residents and the business community via his work as Executive Director.

MEET THE INSTRUCTORSHAYLEY BUCHANANFitness InstructorHayley went to college at UWRF where she played softball and volleyball while getting her Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance. Hayley is currently an elementary PE teacher.

GRAHAM ANDERSON Fitness InstructorGraham has over 16 years of experience in professional and collegiate sports training as well as personal training. Graham holds a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science

MEGHA VAID Fitness InstructorA dentist by education, a dancer by passion, and a fitness instructor by profession. Megha is an AFAA certified group fitness instructor and teaches LesMills classes and BollyX at the Lakewood Ranch YMCA.

BROOKE KERNANYoga insructorBrooke is a New York native who is a lawyer. She became a yoga instructor after completing 200 hours of YTT and is a former figure competitor.

JANETTE BROWNYoga InstructorJanette attended Heartwood Yoga Institute for the RYT 200 hour certification. This forever yoga student learned that there was so much more to yoga than the physical practice.
