August 2016
Dear Students,
I’d like to welcome you to York Technical College. For those who are returning,
welcome back! We are excited to begin the 2016-17 academic year here at the
College. When you enroll at York Tech, you do more than just sign up for
classes; you also gain access to all of the resources necessary for success and all
of the experiences that will enhance your time here.
Here at York Technical College, your instructors, the staff and your fellow
students will partner with you as you work toward your goals. The excitement,
rigor, and challenge of academic life are supported by experienced, highly
credentialed faculty, superior academic advising, and a family of faculty, staff,
and administration whose mission is to enhance your educational experience.
As you engage in class, during extracurricular events, and on campus, your confidence will continue to grow as
you are transformed into a successful college graduate.
If you are returning, you will notice many campus improvements as the College has made strategic investments
to repair aging facilities, create new environments for learning, improve functionality, and create a positive
student experience. One major project completed is the expansion of the College’s original first building. This
C-building renovation updated the building’s facade and increased classroom and laboratory spaces to
accommodate the increasingly complex and integrated use of technology. You may also notice work has been
done to our loop road, which will eventually encircle the whole of campus, leading to the transformation to a
safer, pedestrian campus. All of the changes you see are in an effort to create the best possible place for you to
learn and grow.
My colleagues and I stand by to support and challenge you as you take full advantage of the extraordinary
instruction, dedicated support, and incredible opportunities. Best wishes for an amazing semester!
Sincerely,
Greg F. Rutherford, Ph.D.
