PRO LIFE THOUGHT OF THE WEEK "All the clients were told about the abortion procedure itself was

that they would experience slight cramping similar to menstrual

cramps & that was it. They were not told about the development

of the baby. They were not told about the pain that the baby

would be experiencing, or the physical effects or the emotional

effects that it would have on them. They had no idea who was

going to be there to help them when they fell apart afterwards.

They were taken into the room then, and, as I said, there was no

counseling done. These women basically had no idea what they

were getting themselves into."

~Testimony of Deborah Henry, former Abortion Provider

ADORATION CHAPEL “A woman’s life must be a Eucharistic life. Only in daily, confi-

dential relationship with the Lord in the tabernacle can one forget

self, become free of all one’s wishes & pretensions & have a heart

open to all the needs & wants of others.” ~St. Teresa Benedicta

(Edith Stein), doctor of the church, Carmelite Nun, & Martyr

St. Lawrence, Deacon & Martyr, was one of the seven deacons of

Rome responsible for providing for the poor. He was martyred

under the persecution of Valerian. According to tradition, St.

Lawrence saved the Holy Grail (the chalice used by Jesus at the

Last Supper) & sent it to his parents in Aragon, Spain. This chal-

ice was used by St. Lawrence when he gave the Precious Blood of

Christ in Holy Communion.

PASTOR’S COLUMN Alexander Graham Bell began making experiments when he

was a child, often to the great amusement of his parents. Once

when visitors came to call his father told them: “Alexander is in

the kitchen. His mother gave him a glass of water, and he put a

piece of wire in it. He thinks he’s talking through it.” Everybody

laughed.

Somehow, people are always amused at the new and the dif-

ferent. Respect for inventors and discoverers is hard won. Yet, in

the cases of those who have proved their point, the scoffers have

served the unexpected purpose of adding a deeper incentive for

the ridiculed person to succeed.

Those who work conscientiously to serve God, even when it

means departure from the beaten tracks, are usually regarded as

“strange” to say the least. If the dictates of your heart and con-

science have led you into some “different” activities, don’t permit

the “wet blankets” to discourage you. Remember that Our Lord

was continually being mocked and discounted.

“Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice’ sake for

theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:10)

~Rev. Edward J Smith

FAITH & VALUES APPEAL THIS WEEKEND Catholic Schools are communities of faith, knowledge & service.

Academic success & rigorous achievement mark our schools as

outstanding institutions. Essential to the Christian message is the

command of Christ to serve others. Our students are at their best

when they exemplify in their actions this command, & they do so

daily. Students, their parents, grandparents & other family mem-

bers sacrifice to provide a Catholic education & are grateful for

tuition assistance provided through the Faith & Value Appeal for

Education. Please pray that the generosity of our parishioners

will continue to support the formation of our youth in Catholic

schools where faith makes a difference. You can donate online,

go to www.CatholicCommunity.org/eddonate or call Karen

Joyce, 800-869-6525 ext. 1910.
