    Adobe Audition Tutorial

    Basics about audio file

    Concepts of sound

Latency: delay between input and output

Frequency: Measured in Hz. Describes the number of cycles per second. (For example a !"""#

Hz wa$eform has !""" cycles per second.% The hi&her the fre'uency the hi&her the musical

     pitch.

Amplitude Measured in db. )eflects the chan&e in pressure from the pea* of the wa$eform to

    the trou&h. Hi&h#amplitude wa$eforms are loud+ low#amplitude wa$eforms are 'uiet.,ample rate -uality le$el Fre'uency ran&e

    Concepts of di&ital audio

Sample rate: :ndicates the number of di&ital snapshots ta*en of an audio si&nal each second.

The hi&her the sample rate the closer the shape of the di&ital wa$eform is to that of the ori&inalanalo& wa$eform. ;ow sample rates limit the ran&e of fre'uencies that can be recorded which

can result in a recordin& that poorly represents the ori&inal sound.
