Audience Research The first question I used in my music questionnaire was “Are you male or female?”. This helped me to see

that the majority of my target audience was female therefore helped me focus on making my magazine appealing and more interesting for women. For my second question I asked my audience “How old are you?” this helped give me a better idea of the age of my main target audience to enable me to then focus on the correct age range for my magazine. The majority of people I asked were aged between 16-18 and 19-22. My results showed that there were also a few people outside of this age range so therefore I made sure I targeted them also.

Audience Research The third question I included in my music magazine questionnaire was ‘ Do you like music?’ followed by ‘If

so, what is your favourite genre?’ . This helped me see what people like to listen to and what their favourite genre is. I had a variety of results such as pop, rock, jazz and classical. This is a good question to ask as it gives you the results of what the majority of your target audience like to listen to. This therefore enables you to focus on making the magazine exiting and interesting by filling it with the things your target audience would like to see.

Audience Research Another question I asked was ‘what colours attract you to magazines?’. This is a good question as people

are attracted to magazines by the colours they use as they give off a vibe depending on what the colour is. For example; pink and blue might give of a young trendy vibe and attract the younger audience. The colour scheme is one of the first things you see on a magazine so it is important to get it right when focusing on a certain target audience. Therefore this question is relevant to see what colours people would like to see on the music magazine and entice people to buy it.

Audience Research I asked how much people would be willing to pay for the music magazine to give a rough idea on what

would be a sensible affordable price. I gave four options which were £1- 1.99, £2- 2.99, £3-3.99 and £4+. The majority of people said they would be willing to pay between £2-2.99. This is an important question to ask as you need to find out what people would be willing to pay and it would have to be a price everybody is comfortable with and would keep people interested.

Audience Research I included the question ‘what would you like to see in the music magazine?’ into my questionnaire to see

what the majority of my target audience would like to see and read about. This is a suitable question for the questionnaire as the target audience would like to read about interesting things to them so therefore this would help sell the magazine if it included what they want to see.

Audience Research I asked if it would encourage people to buy the music magazine if it included free

gifts. I gave the answers ‘yes or no’. This just helps to see weather free gifts would be a good asset to the magazine and help them gain more buyers.

Audience ResearchAnother question I included into my music magazine questionnaire was ‘what would make you by the magazine?’. I listed the options; the price, the interviews, the inspiration or other. The majority of people I asked said the inspiration as they are inspired from reading all the interesting stories and looking at the images that are portrayed. This question helps us learn what interests people and would make them want to by the music magazine more so therefore is an important question to include in the survey.

Audience Research The final question I asked on my questionnaire was ‘ how often do you prefer

magazines to be brought out?’. My options were; never, weekly, fortnightly or monthly. The majority of my audience said weekly so therefore are saying that they would like to read and are willing to purchase a music magazine weekly and this would be a good thing to consider when debating how often the magazine is going to get published.
