Question 1:What gender are you?

⃞ Male. ⃞ Female.⃞ Would prefer not to say.

The results from the questionnaire show that 7 of the 10 people questioned were male, showing that the magazine should probably be aimed at a more male-orientated audience.

Question 2:What age group are you in?

⃞ 9-15⃞ 16-22⃞ 23-30⃞ 31+

The results from the questionnaire are very close indeed. 3 people out of the 10 were between 10-16, 3 were 17-22, and 3 of them were 31+. This has showed that the audience for my magazine may have be universal, but more aimed at the teens, as 6 of the 10 were between 10 and 22.

Question 3:Would you but a music magazine based on Britpop?

⃞ Yes⃞ No

If no, could you say why?_____________________________________________________________

The results from question 5 were quite tight. 6 of the 10 said ‘Yes’ to the question, while the other 4 said ‘No’. There was a similar pattern in the reasoning, as most of the answers to ‘why’ were that “They aren't all that keen on Britpop.”

Question 4:Who are your 3 favourite musical artists?

This question had many, many different musical artists mentioned, but a couple of patterns showed through multiple answers. Here are some of the artists that were mentioned:• Oasis• The Stone Roses• The Jam• The Beatles• The Smiths• The Verve• Rolling Stones• Coldplay• Snow Patrol• Blur

Only a couple of the names were repeated though, and

those bands that were repeated were Oasis and

The Stone Roses. This means that I will have to

have them heavily mentioned in my magazine.

This question was majorly dominated by the answer ‘Monthly’, which took 6 of the 10 votes. The modern conventions of Music magazines is to be produced monthly anyways, so maybe a break from tradition isn't always needed.

Question 6:What is the maximum price that you are willing to pay for a magazine?

Pricing a magazine is always difficult, and the audience here chose a wide number of different prices. The one price that got the most votes though, was ‘£2.50 to £2.99’. As ‘£2.00 to £2.49’ got only one vote less, it would probably be sensible to have the price ate £2.50, to keep the majority happy.

Question 7:What would you like to see in a music magazine?

⃞ Gig reviews⃞ Reviews⃞ Gossip⃞ Competitions⃞ New Musical Acts⃞ Photo Shoots⃞ Posters⃞ Free Gifts (i.e. Sample albums; singles)

I made this on a multi-choice question, so more

than one could be chosen. The ones that seemed to have been chosen more though were ‘Reviews’,

‘Competitions’ and ‘Free Gifts’. The latter two are common things to in not

just Music magazines, but magazines as a whole in

general. ‘Gossip’ and ‘Posters’ were surprisingly low, both only garnering 2

each. This shows that in my magazine I may have

to focus heavily on the reviews, but also include

gifts and competitions somewhere within as well.

Question 8:What are your favourite music magazines currently on the market?

⃞ NME ⃞ Classic Rock ⃞ Q ⃞ Top Of the Pops ⃞ Rolling Stone ⃞ None ⃞ Kerrang! ⃞ Other (Please state below.) ⃞ Mojo ______________________ ⃞ Spin ______________________

This was another multi-choice, and rather unsurprisingly, the ‘big’ magazines, such as Rolling Stone and Q came near the top. The fact that nobody said ‘Mojo’, ‘Spin’ or ‘Other’ shows the big magazines domination of the market.

Question 9:Which of these do you use the most for music?

⃞ iTunes⃞ Spotify⃞ YouTube⃞ Other (Please state below.)_______________________________________________

Question 9 turned out to be an absolute dominance by Apple and iTunes, who grabbed 8 out of the 10 votes. This shows that I will need to involve iTunes in my magazine at some point, maybe through gifts and competitions. iT

This question also was forgone. ‘Britpop’ gained majority votes, so that will be the title of my magazine. Sadly, no one put down any suggestions for a different title, which is disappointing as I want to see some of the public’s ideas.
