Audience Profile for Opening SequenceBy Lauren Murray

Page 2: Audience Profile

I am producing an audience profile to help me identify who I will be aiming my opening sequence at. By the end of the task I hope to have a clear outline of my target audience for my AS level production. I will be looking at the different methods of classification including Psychographic, Demographic and Socio-economic. By using a variety of methods I will easily be able to outline a clear target audience.

Introduction

Audience Profile

Gender- Our main gender aim will be towards females as the majority of the cast will be females, making it more relatable for females. However the male gaze theory, a small sector of males may also be interested in the sequence.

Age- The sequence will be rated a 15 as the age we will be aiming it as will be 15-25 year olds. They will be young adults/students.

Lifestyle- They will be socialites who are still in full time education or have a full time job; however still frequently socialise with friends doing different activities. This would mean they could watch the film together, sharing their opinions and likes from the film sequence. They have close friendships with good morals and with modern/on trend views. Interests- They will like socialising with their friends, keeping up with the latest trends and technology. Very materialistic, caring about the way they look and interested in fashion but open to new experiences, meaning they will be open to new media texts. They like a challenge.

Likes- Socialising with friends, going to the cinema and regular parties. Listening to any type of new popular music which is high in the charts, especially indie and pop, as they like to keep up to date with the latest trends.

Dislikes- Homework and school seems boring to them. They hate sport and sitting in at the weekends.

Media Preferences- Regularly uses social networking sites, especially twitter but not Facebook as this is now ‘out of trend’. This makes it easy for them to access advertisements linking them to being part of the active audience. They are active as they are seeking their own media. Also read fashion and celebrity lifestyle magazines.

Product Preferences- Most likely to shop in high-street fashion stores such as Topshop and River island, following celebrity fashion. Also due to their knowledge of media and access of the internet, they are also able to shop online. They will also have an I-phone due to them being able to keep up to date with their social networking sites.

Psychographic- Explorer. They are always willing to try new media texts and are of the younger generation. They will not be effected hypodermic needle theory meaning the content in the opening sequence will not influence them in a bad way as they are part of the active audience, seeking their own media and they are used to modern media texts, meaning they are able to handle it in a positive way.

Socio-economic-B. Although a segment of the target audience will still be in full time education, they and the working adults have the funds to allow them to socialise on a regular basis. They can afford the up to date technology and stylish clothing.

Demographic- There geological location will be the UK or USA as they will be able to relate to the English actresses , the language and setting.
