High Green Solar Installation

Elgin Energy have been successful in gaining planning permission for the second application of the Solar Farm. This decision was made during a Development Control Committee meeting on the 23rd July at the council offices.

The Parish Council made representation at the meeting but the final outcome of the vote from Stroud Councilors was to permit the application.

Elgin have also made an appeal against the decision regarding the first application, we await to hear if this will be continued in light of the second application being permitted.

Defibrillator Training

There was a great turn out for the village defibrillator training on the 10th June at the school. A big thank you to Louise Cooper from South Western Ambulance Service, she is certainly passionate about defibrillators and the benefits of having them in rural locations! A really useful piece of information that came from the training was to have the grid reference location of your property to hand if you ever need the emergency services as they can then locate you accurately. This is especially important in our rural area as there are lots of houses down unmarked lanes. Also crucial if you are the only person with a patient and can’t get to the main road to direct the ambulance etc. You can get your grid reference by following the link below and popping in your postcode.

https://gridreferencefinder.com/ Other useful tips were to put all your house lights on if it’s night time and car hazard lights to attract the attention of the emergency services. There is a presentation available that can be emailed which covers all the training that was given on the evening. Please drop an email to:

Longney Longest Day Bike Ride

Mike and Hanne Foyle would like to say a massive “Thank You” to all who attended the bike ride this year!

The costumes were amazing as always!

During the evening they raised a whopping £790 for Myeloma UK.

Perrywood House Open Gardens

Mike & Gill Farmer raised over £2500 with their open gardens in June for the NGS charities! They donate over £3m a year to notable charities including Macmillan, MS Society, Carers Trust and many

more! Well done both!

Bonfires The subject of bonfires was raised at the last Parish Council meeting. Please be considerate when lighting a bonfire especially if it’s a nice sunny day with no wind. You will upset your neighbours if the smoke is blowing into their homes and gardens.

Garden bonfires, the rules!

There are no laws against having a bonfire, but there are laws for the nuisance they can cause.

Burning domestic waste.

You cannot get rid of household waste if it will cause pollution or harm people’s health. This includes burning it.

You could be fined if you light a fire and allow the smoke to drift across the road and become a danger to traffic.

Complain about a neighbour’s bonfire.

Your council can issue an ‘abatement notice’ if a neighbour’s bonfire is causing a nuisance. A bonfire must happen frequently to be considered a nuisance.

Your neighbour can be fined up to £5,000 if they don’t follow the rules of the notice.

Changes Regarding Waste & Recycling

Rounds

Changes to recycling rounds: you’ll need to put everything out by 6am.

Make sure your waste and recycling is put out by 6am Stroud District Council’s Community Services team is reminding residents.

A new collection round is being introduced to cater for the growth in properties across the district. While this won’t affect the day that collec-tions are made on, it does mean that some existing collection times may change, with some now being collected earlier in the morning.

Putting your waste and recycling out by 6am will ensure there is no disruption to your service.

Frampton Country Fair

8th September 2019

Advance warning of some road closures on the day of the Fair, please keep an eye on our Facebook page and we will put a reminder on closer to the day.

Planning Planning and the need for it was discussed at the last parish Council meeting. The following is taken from the Stroud District Planning Site and gives an idea of what you need to do if you think you need permission for building work or a business. We would also encourage you to come and have a chat with the Parish Council should you be planning to submit an application.

When is planning permission required? If you want to build an extension to your property or do other work to your home, or if you want to expand your business or change the use of your premises, you may need to apply for planning permission.

Some minor alterations and extensions such as conservatories, particularly to houses, can often be carried out without the need for planning permission. This is known as permitted development.

Development permitted under General Consent, including permitted development can also be liable for Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).

There is a schedule of CIL Liable development and specific forms that need to be submitted if your General Consent or permitted development is CIL Liable.

Planning Portal - How to find out if you need planning permission.

You can use the interactive house and guides on the Planning Portal website to see if you are likely to require planning permission.

Constraints on your property.

Search online for basic constraints (conservation area, area of outstanding natural beauty, article 4s or flood zone) on the dwelling. Please note this does not include listed buildings, these can be searched at Historic England.

Have permitted development rights been removed from your property?

Permitted development rights can be removed from a site either with an Article 4 direction or by condition in your planning history. To find out whether your permitted development rights have been removed or limited by condition you can use our search function system to search the planning history.

Article 4s can be on properties or land, these can be seen on an interac-tive map. For properties details of the Article 4 can be seen on the con-servation area appraisal.

Second Gold School Games

Mark Award Longney school is delighted to announce they have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2018/19 academic year. This is the sec-ond Gold Mark!

The scheme is a Government led award launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and they are delighted to have been recognised for this success.

The school is extremely proud of the pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including the young volunteers, leaders and officials who make the competitions possible.

As part of the application, they were asked to fulfill criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and were pleased that the hard work of everyone at the school has been rewarded this year.

New School Term The new school term starts on the 2nd September. Wishing good luck to Year 6 pupils who left in July to start their new adventure at secondary school! A warm welcome to all the new pupils starting in September!
