Rob is a respected and knowledgeable change catalyst with a demonstrated capacity to guide all kaiako to become confident and competent curriculum leads. His own educational experiences – classroom teaching, mentoring, curriculum resource designer, university tutor and government/school liaison advisor immerse teachers with routines to bring curriculum intent to life through snap shot assessment routines and instant ways to identify and target needs of ākonga. Schools undertaking this approach have won School of the Year awards and had their impacts shared at maths conferences across Australia and Aotearoa NZ. Rob continues to work across both countries and in 2020 moved to Ōtautahi Christchurch. After working as a Maths Inquiry mentor and a Deputy Principal he joined the global team of The Learner First to continue his journey for helping ākonga connect to and identify with mathematics. Primary, Intermediate & Junior High School In the teaching and learning of Mathematics Rob was recently invited by the Ministry to run his award winning maths immersion workshops across selected schools in Aotearoa NZ. Rob works alongside kaiako and uses their strengths and existing resources to create high impact and immediate routines to reduce time spent planning, assessing and differentiating, including ways to: assess numeracy without timely interviews or traditional tests adapt resources for instant levelling up and down in class create rich tasks to link stands and reduce content overload integrate key and cultural competencies into ākonga experience His approach affords schools the flexibility to use online and in-school delivery options and the duration and frequency of their hours.
