Maverick teams have a rich history of excellence on and off the playing field. One of the primary goals of our athletic program is to accentuate the development of the whole student and help them achieve a personal level of excellence in the areas of academics, fitness, teamwork, commitment, respect for others, and sportsmanship. Currently, we field 30 varsity, 19 junior varsity, 3 freshmen, and 6 club teams. Over the last 18 years our varsity teams have won 70 district team titles, 22 regional team titles, 9 team state championships, (six in baseball and one each in women’s golf and men’s volleyball) and 7 individual state championships. We also have one Team National Championship in baseball in 2010, one FCDA National Championship in dance, and two individual National Champions in wrestling. Overall, the varsity sports program has maintained a winning percentage of over 70% throughout the school’s history.

Last year our varsity teams once again ranked as one of the top 1A to 5A programs in Broward County as the men’s varsity teams were recognized as the top program in the county by The Herald. We posted an overall record of 351 wins, 175 losses, and 3 ties. This year our varsity teams earned state championships in women’s golf, baseball, and men’s volleyball. The football team finished their season 11-0 and were Gold Coast Conference Champions. Also, our Legacies Dance Team won a FCDA National Championship. We had coaches receiving honors as well: Carl Phillips, (Women’s Golf), Karen Frank (Men’s Volleyball), and Rich Bielski (Baseball) were named top coaches by the Florida Dairy Farmers Association. Women’s Cross Country and Men’s Volleyball were named Academic Team Champions for 2015-2016. Overall, our varsity teams averaged an un-weighted GPA of a 3.0 or higher. As a department we are very proud of our accomplishments because we believe in coaching the athletes who want to participate. We will not go out and bring in athletes to take the place of those committed to our programs.

Individually over the last 18 years, 180 of our athletes have earned First Team All County Honors in a variety of sports by the local media, and 203 have signed college scholarships to continue both their academic and athletic careers.
