Toronto Junior-Senior High School inducted five new members to its Athletic Hall of Fame at a special ceremony during half time of the Toronto vs Catholic Central football game on September 16, 2016.

According to Maureen Wherry Taggart ‘88, each nominee had to be a student-athlete representing outstanding performance as an individual or as a member of an athletic team represent-ing Toronto Junior-Senior High School and/or at a collegiate or professional level; a coach or athletic administrator who met the requirements; and must have been a graduate of THS and out of school for more than five years.

“There is also a special category for individuals who may not have been graduates of Toronto but have shown devotion, sup-port and brought recognition to the school’s athletic pro-grams,” Taggart added. “The hall of fame committee is re-sponsible for soliciting nominations from as many sources as possible in order to ensure a fair and equitable consideration of all potential candidates.”

The selection committee consists of the high school principal, athletic directors—both junior high and high school—and two members of the Toronto Board of Education assigned to the athletic committee.
