Vandling Tax Office Hours
The Vandling Borough Tax Office will be open May 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Flea market tobe held May 28
The VFW Post No. 4712 Auxiliary, 500 Main St., Simp-son, will hold a flea market on Sat., May 28, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the VFW grounds.

Free Hearing Screenings in Vandling May 17
The Wayne Memorial Hear-ing Solutions Mobile Audiol-ogy Van will be at the McAn-drew Family Health Center, 111 Main Street, Vandling on Tuesday, May 17, from 9 am to 11 am. Robert Gwyn, Doc-tor of Audiology, will perform free screenings in the fully equipped mobile clinic. In ad-dition to providing hearing ex-aminations and audio devices at Wayne Memorial Hearing Solutions, an outpatient facil-ity on Main Street in Hones-dale, Dr. Gwyn utilizes the mo-bile van to offer outreach such as screenings and evaluations throughout Wayne Memorial’s service area. Greg Kowalewskiplaces third nationally
For the second consecutive week, a Lackawanna College Softball Player, Katie Yale, has been named the Eastern Penn-sylvania Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week.
Yale a pitcher/ first base-men from Union Dale, Penn-sylvania, led the Falcons to an 8-0 win/loss record for the week ending on April 24th. She hit .478 during that week and was the winning pitcher in four games. At the plate she had eleven hits, four of which were doubles and one a triple, in twenty three at bats. Yale scored nine runs and drove in eight.
On the mound, she won four games without a loss, two of which were shutouts. During those four games, she allowed only sixteen hits, four runs, two walks and had nine strike-outs.
Katie is the daughter of Mary and Tom Yale of Union Dale.

Pulled pork dinnerset for Sat., May 21
The Clinton Baptist Church will hold a pulled pork dinner $10 on Sat., May 21. There will be macaro-ni salad, baked beans, roll dessert, and drink. Take-outs only noon to 4 p.m.

Greg Kowalewski, son of Judy and John Kowalewski, Forest City, recently placed third out of 66 students in the individual category of the Southwestern Intercollegiate Meat Judging Con-test held at the University of Kentucky on April 7 through the 9. Greg is a student at Penn State’s Main Campus. Penn State and 12 other colleges participated from around the country and the university placed first overall in the competition.

Scholarship Available at FCR School
The David Cavalieri Memo-rial Scholarship is seeking ap-plications from current seniors at Forest City Regional. Appli-cants need to have been active in at least two sports. They also must be able to show evi-dence of good character and compassion towards others. Applications are due June 1.
