The Transtar Part Numbering SystemParT nUmbering

The new Transtar part numbering system is very easy to use. The part number is based on a prefix, base number, and suffix, that, when broken down, will tell you the almost everything you need to know about the part.

Prefix Letters refer to various part differences, such as the parts origin. Here are some examples of prefix letters and their meanings (although prefixes may differ between product groups):A B C D N P R Aftermarket New Borg Warner Brand Core Original Equipment New Premium Parts Remanufactured Hard Parts (Previously AR)

The Base Number is made up of two components, beginning with a two or threedigit number that tells you the Transmission Type. You can see the Transmission Type in the Table of Contents on pages three and four of this catalog. For example, 14 is the Transmission Type for an 4T40E. The Transmission Type is also located on the Illustration page, or exploded view, of each transmission. The next three digits refer to the product group. The numbers 500 for example, tell you that the part is a pump. (For the complete list of product group numbers, please see the Part Numbering Guide on our website.)
