Astrology Numerology & You

The regular waxing and waning of the moon reminds us that life is not chaotic and random; there is a natural and rhythmical cycle to everything and through the intimate energy of the moon, we are connected to that rhythm. This includes the rhythms of nature, the seasons, music, our bodies and the ebb and flow of our feelings. Life is in constant flux.

The moon represents our instinctual responses to life and carries our unconscious memories from past lives and early childhood. Many of our automatic emotional reactions to current life circumstances find their source in the stored memory of the moon. Its placement in our birthchart reveals so much about how we feel in our daily environment and even in our bodies.

The relationship between the Sun and Moon in the sky is what creates

the waxing and waning light of the moon each month. The sun; magnificent, life-giving lord of the daytime, descends below the horizon every evening and, depending on her phase, the luminous moon, queen of the night, appears. In this night sky, she reflects back to us the inner images of the psyche.

Last month I spoke in general of the main phases of the moon, this month is the start of a series on the eight phases of the moon used by astrologers. As the whole moon cycle from new moon to new moon is 4 weeks long,

these eight phases are 4.5 days in length and represent the stages of life from birth to death and birth again.

The first phase of the cycle is the New Moon. This occurs when the Moon and Sun form a conjunction and meet in the sky each month. The new life cycle begins. At this time, the moon, together with the sun, descends beneath the horizon and the night sky is left in darkness. No moon will appear for about three days. The moon is now absorbing the light and energies of the sun and new ideas and possibilities are germinated.

This is a deep time; a time for inner reflection, contemplation and deep

The early relationships with the mother and other primary caregivers are deeply embedded in the psyche and lay the foundation for future life experiences.

The Moon is a memory bank, a repository of all the impressions of life. These lunar impressions are stored in the cells of the body, in the psyche, in the soul and remain throughout life. As the child grows and develops, she begins to respond accordingly. This is fine if the early environment is a loving, warm and nurturing one, but if it is not, the natural instincts of the child may begin to be repressed and distorted as he or she develops defensive and protective responses in order to feel safe.

For example, when all goes well, an Aries Moon child will respond to life with a happily energetic, physical and enthusiastic instinct and will grow to become an independent, dynamic individual with a natural flair for leadership. However, if the environment is threatening or emotionally dysfunctional, that same Aries Moon child will begin to react with tantrums and aggression and will likely become an angry, impatient and demanding adult. He feels he has to fight to get what he wants.

This behaviour is an automatic response to early patterning that began in the womb, continued through infanthood, childhood and becoming entrenched by young adulthood. Each Moon sign has its particular defended behaviour patterns as the natural response to the environment.

These patterns of course affect our relationships, health, our issues with food, fertility in woman and our general sense of happiness and wellbeing throughout life.

When we repeatedly experience our negative emotional patterns and feel helpless to change it, we are in the grip of the Moon energy. We need then to become more aware of our feelings, what triggers them and to understand that it really isn’t about the other person. Shining the light of consciousness onto the patterns through self-enquiry, healing and therapy modalities is essential. Otherwise the tidal pull of those familiar feelings drowns us in the comfort of what is so well-known, however painful and unhealthy it might be.

Here is a very simple description of the wounded and habitual, unconscious lunar reactions of the 12 Signs:

Aries: fight and aggression. “Do as I say!”Taurus: stubborn resistance and controlling. “It’s mine!”Gemini: a smoke-screen of words and busy-ness. “Keep

moving.”Cancer: emotional withdrawal, eating. “Don’t show them

how you feel”Leo: arrogant pride and bossiness. “Look at me”Virgo: workaholism, perfectionism. “I always have to do

everything myself ”Libra: charming, co-operative, pleasing. “Be nice to

everyone”Scorpio: secretive, manipulative, guarded. “Trust no-one”Sagittarius: irresponsible, extravagant, opinionated. “I know

everything”

Capricorn: serious, emotionally withholding. “Work hard and survive”

Aquarius: emotionally detached, intellectual. “I’m right.”Pisces: addictions, escapist, victim. “I can’t help it”

The NewMoononDecember16isat9degreesofSagittarius, a sign known for its expansive, fun nature and love of freedom. The New Moon is always a time of new beginnings and sets the tone for the coming 4 weeks of that Lunar Cycle. So make the most of this cycle by setting your intentions at the New Moon to be more open, adventurous and positive.

It’s a great time to make travel plans, to go on holidays, to have contact with foreign cultures and to generally expand your horizons. As a future oriented sign, look up and outwards, inviting a broader vision of new possibilities that include more freedom, fun and adventure.

With the Sagittarian love of the great outdoors, this New Moon calls us to go camping, hiking, play sport, go horse riding, have fun with friends and generally enjoy ourselves. Some howling at the moon could be just the thing.

Sagittarius is also a religious/spiritual sign. It rules the urge to seek, to know, to experience and to understand the higher meaning and purpose of life. So for many of us, this New Moon will trigger a renewed search for meaning, perhaps through a spiritual teacher or more involvement with religious and/or spiritual groups.

Creating a vision board of all your dreams, desires and goals, both worldly and spiritual will be a very fruitful way to direct your energies around the Mew Moon and throughout the following 4 weeks of the cycle.

NumerologyLife Path Numbers

Following on from last issue, I’ll continue through the ‘Life Path’ numbers with 2’s.Just to recap slightly, the ‘Life Path’ is the main path of experiential learning, which we all go through as we progress through our respective lives. It is indicated by the ‘Date of Birth’ and the addition of all of the numbers in the Date of Birth, back to a single number, like so: (1st Feb 1970) 1 + 2 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 0 = 20 = 2. The ‘2’ Life Path can also be found in dates that add to 29 = 11 = 2 and 38 = 11 = 2. On the 29th Sept 1989 we had the first 47 = 11 = 2 children being born, since the 29th of Sept 1899. Within the numbers that compound to give us the Life Path number i.e. 20, 29, 38, 47, we get an idea of the main direction that their experiences will follow.

Although the 11 / 2 people are classed as “Master Numbers” there is still the effect of the 2 Life Path on their lives as ‘1 + 1’ comes back to a ‘2’ as a single digit.

LifePath2:The number 2 deals with sensitivity and cooperation.

They must learn about the acknowledgement of the sensitive emotional self, and understanding the intuitive abilities of the self, in cooperation with working with others. 2’s are non-aggressive peacemakers, masters at mediating and building relationships with others for the purpose of community, and creating the flow of cooperation, all in sync getting the job done peaceably. Their need for emotional understanding, rationality and balance makes for great carers and counsellors, healers and psychics. They have to watch out, for they can create an emotional needy co-dependency with others, not relying on or trusting themselves, always seeking praise, validation, attention and manipulation via other emotional neediness’s.

As they accept themselves as being divine and perfect, and learn to love and trust who and what they are as sensitive intuitive beings, they begin to accept the guidance from their soul essence and its messages, which we call our ‘intuition’.

Part of the lesson of the ‘2’ then is to learn to trust the first impressions, and to listen to that quiet, still voice within itself, which, if trusted totally, will never let it down. Understanding and developing this is all important.

If 2’s can learn to support this part of their personality, and refrain from impressing insecurities externally, blaming others for how they feel, they will learn to trust their feelings and their judgement of any issues, which may confront them throughout their lives. Patience is the catch phrase for the parent of a ‘2’ child, as there is

a need to allow them to work at their own speed. They do not take well to being pushed!

The energy of the ‘2’ needs to be grounded as often as possible, to relax and soothe the feelings, as there is a tendency to walk away from the intuitive self and try to rationalise away what is happening in that area of their personality. This means getting back to nature, lots of hands on gardening and getting hands in the soil and being with the plants and nature spirits. Bushwalking is a good pastime, as long as it is in solitude and peace. Also, a good long barefoot walk along the seashore will help to bring the ‘2’ energy back down to earth. Maintaining emotional balance is a must for the ‘2’ Life Path people. If self trust is not developed, the ‘2’ person may tend to always be a peacemaker, compromising constantly in denial of itself, not able to set healthy boundaries. And this can become a real problem if there is an accumulation of the number 2 in their chart. Finding the balance between cooperation and co-dependency, without giving one’s emotional power away is their main challenge, especially for women. A gentle number, 2’s are lovers of animals and children, fairy’s and angels.

The best career expression for a ‘2’ Life Path person is a job where they support a leader/boss and can use their highly developed intuitive sense and abilities without too much pressure, in some creative community or artistic profession.

It is interesting to note that from the year 2000, every birth date will have a ‘2’ in it. Any child born on the 2nd, 20th and 22nd Feb 2000, 2002, 2020 and 2022, will have only 2’s on their chart. I feel the change in children born on, or after the year 2000 will be quite significant in our human evolution and the balance of duality.
