Mission:AHVTM is an IRS approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit professional association composedof veterinarians, hematologists, academics, veterinary technicians, blood bankers,and interested public who desire to further scientific advances in transfusionmedicine and veterinary hematology. We engage in veterinary research, promoteindustry standards, develop guidelines for canine and feline blood collection andprocessing, and publish scientific research in peer-reviewed publications.

1. What are we aiming to accomplish?Our goal is to continue conducting scientific research in veterinary transfusion medicine and become the leader in the field.We also would like to educate veterinary technicians in the area of hematology and transfusion medicine / proper bloodbanking.

2. What are our strategies for making this happen?We are looking to work with interested vet techs on designing an educational program that would certify skill competenceupon completion.

3. What are our organization's capabilities for doing this?Our veterinarians and vet techs have the knowledge and passion to design educational programs and conduct classes tomeet certification standards.

4. How will we know if we're making progress?When our first class graduates, we will know we have succeeded! We have not yet designed such a course, but are thinkingit might run 8 - 12 months.

5. What have and haven't we accomplished so far?We have accomplished organizing and applying for tax-exempt status. Now that has been completed, we can set ourattention on research, fundraising, designing educational classes, and participating in national veterinary conference forumswhere we present our research findings to veterinary professionals.
