Contacts and Organisation
Global economic imbalances are causing an ever-increasing number of populations to slide into poverty, and inequality is worsening. For over 28 years, the humanitarian association Energies Sans Frontières has been using its skills to carry out development projects in the poorest countries to help improve the living conditions of these countries’ disadvantaged populations. The association works to make their everyday lives easier by implementing projects to provide access to water, electricity or training. It also intervenes in post-emergency situations after natural disasters in Haiti, Croatia and Greece, for example. The work of Energies Sans Frontières, an association for international solidarity, relies on the commitment of its volunteers and aid from its partners and donors, all of whom contribute to the success of its projects. Energies Sans Frontières runs projects all over the world.

Contributions and Objectives
Page 2/4
Our objective has not changed since 1988 - identifying needs in close consultation with populations is indispensible, the mutual comprehension that we seek is essential and the appropriation of the project by everyone involved is crucial. We strive to carry out our projects as hands-on training programmes to ensure the future of our work and to motivate local young people. A year or two after the completion of a project, depending on the situation, an assessment is made to see if objectives have been met, if the choices made with regard to needs were relevant and to observe how the project is evolving. These projects improve access to healthcare and education, and slow down rural exodus. They also enable local populations and tradespeople to participate in construction work by choosing whenever possible to purchase materials locally. Over time, we have built up a network of donors - industrialists and local authorities, suppliers and donors - whose loyalty and solidarity make it possible to carry out our projects.

The container was transformed in situ. The work involved drilling doors and windows, installing frames and indoor and outdoor trims and fitting the roof and electrical installation. A 2nd container purchased locally was adjoined to the first to create enough floor space. Installation of 2000 light points.

Contacts and Organisation
LAOS Solidarity Trips These trips organised by Energies Sans Frontières for our partner CCAS (gas and electricity companies’ works council) brought travellers to Laos for sightseeing and also to visit the sites of completed Energies Sans Frontières projects. The travellers helped install a solar power station to recharge batteries in the village of Boumlou.
Vietnam Since 2005, the Energies Sans Frontières Association has been running short training sessions in Vietnam to teach disadvantaged young people to become electricians. Eleven sessions have been held over recent years and more than 250 young people have received electrician training from ESF.
Energies Sans Frontières has equipped the training centres with the teaching models and tools necessary for training and the trainers in these centres are now giving lessons themselves. ESF is hoping to train 700 more disadvantaged young people over the next 4 years. Energies Sans Frontières and its partners provide organisational, material and financial assistance with the project. In addition, ESF is opening a business incubator to help these young people start out in the industry.
