Teaching and learning preparation.

1. Induction set

Madam Saidah had begun her induction set by exhibiting the examples of

alabaster’s completed art. This is suitable with the title that she has chosen and

she managed to attract pupils’ attention to the next activity of teaching and

learning. The teacher continued the activity by questioning about the alabaster

and link it with the title, field, theme and activity related.

container and thinner.

explicit continuum between the steps in the activity of teaching and learning

planned. At first, the teacher explained the techniques to produce the alabaster

artwork. In this section, the teacher had highlighted the aspects of safety,

cleanliness in order to produce the artwork.

Instructional Material

Madam Saidah had used the tool and materials in the art room. The tools

and materials used are in line with the title and could give exposure as well as

new experiences to the pupils especially about the role of tools and materials

used in daily life.

Methods and techniques

In teaching and learning session, Madam Siadah had used the method of

Mastery learning which is explaining the methods step by step:

Teacher’s strength:

-The teacher was able to attract pupils’ interest to listen to the teacher’s

explanation as she has clear voice and loud. Besides that, the teacher’s

explanation could be understood well. This is because the teacher used simple

language and appropriate with the level of pupils.

-The teacher was able to control the class even though the class consists of

active pupils

-Madam Saidah is a caring teacher whereby she had provided the materials and

tools for the pupils. This step was taken to avoid those pupils who could not bring

the tools or materials stated. In fact, the teacher concerned about the cleanliness

and safety aspect while teaching. The pupils were reminded to bring their own

apron to protect their school uniform from dirt while doing the activity.

- She is a responsible teacher as she always move from one group to one

another to guide and assist the pupils who need help in completing their

artworks.

-The teacher was able to conduct appreciation part of art successfully. The pupils

were able to give their comments to their respective artworks and also the others.

The teacher will give her own opinions about the artworks produced by pupils.

Teacher’s weakness

-The teacher less believe about pupil’s ability as the teacher herself mixed the

colours. This is because the pupils will also manage to do the activity by

themselves.

Lesson’s strength:

-The process of teaching and learning could be conducted and achieved its

objectives as planned. As evidence, all pupils were able to produce their artworks

in stated duration. Moreover, every activity conducted could highlight the link of

continuum from the beginning till the end. Besides that, the class in control.

-The pupils were able to understand the explanation given by the teacher and

interested to follow the teaching and learning conducted. In fact, the activity of

alabaster is a new thing to them.

Lesson’s weakness:

-The materials for teaching or the examples given by the teacher were limited

(only one) and less attractive (vague design). In order to conduct this kind of

activity, the teacher should provide more examples that related to more attractive

designs to trigger their ideas and creativity.

-The container used for alabaster activity was limited and the pupils need to wait

for a long time.

Conclusion

In overall, the activity of teaching and learning could be implemented

smoothly, achieved objectives as what had been targeted and also attracted

pupils’ interest to produce the artworks. Although some of them were unable to

produce a nice artwork, this is not their fault as alabaster is a new experience for

them.
