adding the parts levelers and immedi-ately reached out to Eric Cohen, Sales Engineer at ARKU Cincinnati, to learn more. Useless scrap parts were sent to ARKU for flattening, and once retur-ned, C.F.F. Stainless Steels conducted further tests of their own. After being subjected to their cutting processes, they were amazed at the quality and durability of the ARKU-flattened me-tal. The FlatMaster’s competitive ad-vantages were clear – better overall parts and better products for custo-mers, reduction of scrap and faster overall process times. The company expects that the imple-mentation of in-house leveling will have a ripple effect on the markets it serves and raise the bar for its com-petition and customer expectations alike. “The benefits go hand in hand with C.F.F. Stainless Steel Inc.’s mis-sion, which is to be the leading value-added and innovative stainless steel distributor and processor in North America,” said Cheslock. “We measure

success by delivering the highest qua-lity products, with superior customer service, diverse products, and innova-tive in-house processing capabilities.”

It was common for C.F.F. Stainless Steels Inc., and their competition, not to provide a guarantee on the flatness of their stainless steel products, and just as common for customers to ac-cept materials that had the possibility of twisting, straining or bowing. With the help of the ARKU FlatMaster®, C.F.F. Stainless Steels Inc. now has an advantage that elevates their brand, adds value to their proces-ses and builds stronger customer relations. “Adding a FlatMaster® is a perfect complement to the services we already provide, and it will take our business to the next level,” said Cheslock. “Ultimately, it should make for a happier and more loyal customer and that’s how orders get placed.”

Cincinnati, OH – In its search for a leveling solution for its electrical industry parts, Monti Incorporated didn’t have to look far. The company found ARKU’s leveling service cen-ter literally right around the corner in Cincinnati. While the companies‘ proximity did not seal the deal, the leveling center’s turnaround time and part quality did. “We have been able to cut production times by as much as 15 percent, reduce our part rejec-tion rate and increase product quali-ty,” said Nate Duhl, Account Manager with Monti. “The location and depen-dability of ARKU makes it just another

aspect of our production process. It’s like a partnership.”Monti specializes in manufacturing and fabricating copper and aluminum conductors, insulators, and steel com-ponents for the electrical distribution industry. The shop handles CNC machi-ning, metal fabrication, stamping, water jet cutting, welding, brazing, die design, epoxy coating, and assemblies inside a new 200,000-square foot manufactu-ring facility in Cincinnati. The 40-year-old company provides prototyping expertise and recommends areas of savings to its OEM customers. Monti serves customers who‘s quantity needs

range from limited to high-volume production. Duhl and Monti also tap into ARKU’s manufacturing exper-tise, consulting with leveling center supervisor Chad Ellis on quotes and new-product development processes. “ARKU is an extension of our opera-tions,” said Duhl. “The work they do for us not only trims our production time, the leveling allows us to meet critical tolerances for our customers, giving us a competitive edge.” Monti recently also discovered that deburring at the service center using ARKU’s new EdgeBreaker® deburring and rounding machine is more cost

effective and saves production time over manual in-house processing. “Since we’ve been processing parts with ARKU, we’ve had zero rejections,” said Duhl. “This business is ever evol-ving, and to stay competitive we rely on continuous improvement and are consistently trying to get better and find new process that work for us and provide value to our customers. Wor-king with ARKU has been huge for us, and our relationship has been integral in the continued success and evolution of our business.”

Columbus,OH – Brothers Mike and Jim Wolf set out forty-two years ago to build a business centered on quali-ty. That dedication to quality continues to drive Wolf Metals toward its original mission: To provide the best product at the best price with no hassle. The company caters to diverse mar-kets including: defense, pharmaceu-tical and food industries. “Providing a greater number of excellent servi-ces to customers allows us to expand our markets and keep us ahead of our competition,” said Jim Wolf, company President. A Wolf customer requested parts with a flatness specification, so the com-pany began looking for an efficient and economical way to flatten parts. That led them to ARKU. After suc-cessful leveling tests, Wolf Metals became a customer at the ARKU leveling and deburring center in Cincinnati. Pleased with the quali-ty of leveling, they quickly showed an interest in purchasing a FlatMaster® of their own. “We were very pleased with the parts we were getting and orders for those parts were increasing,

so we decided to purchase our own FlatMaster® 55 165 for in-house leve-ling,” said Wolf.Wolf Metals is just as impressed with the quality of service that ARKU provi-des as it is with the FlatMaster’s quali-ty. When a control panel issue paused production, ARKU Cincinnati dispat-ched a technician to the Wolf facility to address the issue. “There’s a lot of value in working with a company that can solve problems quickly,” said Wolf. “Our customers rely on us to deliver the parts they need in a timely manner, and the response time and quick so-lution from ARKU are examples of the level of service we’ve come to expect from them.”The FlatMaster® 55 allows Wolf to le-vel parts and sheets up to 0.5“ thick. The ability to have sheets flattened allows more precise laser cutting and enables more accurate downstream processes. “The FlatMaster’s innova-tion and effective processing capabi-lities allow us to fulfill our mission of quality,” added Wolf.

Eagle, WI – Twelve years ago, brothers Jeff “Chief” and Norb Dretzka, found-ers of UPI, decided to focus their 22-year old company on assisting with the war on terror. UPI now produces ar-mor plating for the military from their 68,000 square foot space in Eagle, Wisconsin. “It’s an honor for us,” said Jeff Dretzka, Jr., VP at UPI. “To provide parts that are safeguarding and saving lives is the most exciting thing we do.”UPI’s pursuit of high quality plate for armored vehicle panels led them to ARKU’s leveling and deburring center in Cincinnati. “ARKU’s attention to de-tail and quick, consistent turnaround allows us to hit our deadlines, and the quality of the leveling enables tighter tolerances, so we can easily hold the flatness spec,” said Jeff. “Our partner-ship with ARKU opens up new markets and gives us confidence in contract

bidding knowing we can achieve high-er tolerance on flatness. That has led to a 20-25 % increase in our business, and using ARKU saves up to 20 % on processing time because every aspect of our downstream processes benefit from a good part.”“People’s lives depend on what we do, so we choose our vendors very care-fully,” said Tim Cronce, UPI Sourcing Specialist. “Few companies do what ARKU does, as well as they do.” Tim, a U.S. Navy veteran, has firsthand knowledge of the quality of equipment used in the military. “Craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail are expected standards when it comes to earning military contracts, and UPI prides itself on products tailored to the needs of the mission.”

Plain City, OH – Gregg Simpson, presi-dent and owner of Ohio Laser LLC, takes laser fabrication seriously. His passion for the industry led him to become a pioneer in the implementation and use of laser cutting, welding, and advan-ced computer controlled metal fabrica-tion. Serving national customers from Columbus, OH, Simpson understands

the importance of quality and timeliness on business relationships.

Simpson was thrilled when ARKU ope-ned its Cincinnati leveling facility in 2010. “When ARKU’s facility opened, it was a godsend for us,” said Simpson. “Our customers required leveled parts and we could do everything except level. The service center was turning around high quality, level parts in a timely manner so we were happy to have that resource available. Even at ninety miles away it was still cost effective to meet pro-duction deadlines and customers were happy with the parts”.

By 2015, Ohio Laser ran 80 percent of its parts through the leveling center. An internal cost analysis indicated that in-house leveling would cut delivery times while maintaining, or increasing, part quality. “Our market is really competitive. We had longer lead times due to logistics and couldn’t completely control our des-

tiny when it came to meeting deadlines,” said Simpson. “That can make or break a relationship. So, we decided to level here, and knew we wanted a FlatMaster®.”

The ability to consistently control part quality and delivery times was a big value-addition. “The capability that we gained with the FlatMaster® 55 165

opened new markets and projects for us and expanded our scope of services,” said Simpson. “When customers saw the tolerances we could meet they said, ‘I’ve got a lot of other parts you can do for us“.

Ohio Laser has a diverse client base with companies in virtually every manufactu-ring industry, and, with the help of the leveling center, it continues to grow.

For Tonnie Webster and Johnnie Coleman working at the ARKU leve-ling and deburring center regularly presents a new set of challenges, and that is just fine with them. “We

see all kinds of materials and parts coming through here, there is never a dull moment,” said Coleman. “But, we’ve got some of the best machines in the industry to meet any challenge. It’s very rewarding to consistently deliver what our customers need.”

ARKU’s leveling and deburring cen-ters are staffed with highly trained operators and industry experts, and equipped to handle sheet thicknes-ses from 0.15 to 24 mm and widths

from 120 to 2,000 mm. According to Webster, the center’s team ap-proach is as important as the equip-ment. “For me, it’s the people who make the difference. We are a great team and enjoy working together to find solutions for our customers.”
