Dear Ark Victoria students,
I hope that you and your families are all keeping well.
Thank you to pupils who have written letters and spoken to teachers; it is wonderful to hear how you are getting on at home withwork, and the activities that you are doing. I am also pleased to see the brilliant work that you are sending to the home learning email addresses. It is great to see pictures of the weekly challenges that you are doing with your families – keep up the great work!
We know that the government is planning to re-opening schools for some year groups, and we will hear further information on Thursday 28th May. I know this may be an unsettling time for you, but please do not worry. Whether you are in school or at home, we are here to support you with your work and well-being. Please continue to share any worries that you have with your family members and teachers.
I hope that you have a restful half-term break, and Eid Mubarak to our families who are celebrating.

Free Virtual Work Experience for Y10 and Y11:
STEM focussed work experience programme aimed at year 10 and 11 pupils. First cohort starts on the 1st June, with another cohort starting on the 8th June.
The online programme has been rated to the Silver Level by Industrial Cadets. This means the students will have about 30 hours of structured work experience. It will allow the students to use this experience on their CVs goingforward as they apply for universities or an apprenticeship.
The programme is comprised of 10 sessions which will typically be delivered in the following format:• A video introduction (about 1 hour) from an expert in each discipline to talk about how their field relates to the
brief, as well as a general introduction to the discipline.• A series of activities that the students will go away and complete (researching the best site, developing
alternative building layouts etc.)• A live Q&A session with a Jacobs employee from that discipline to answer any questions about their career, how
they got where they are, what they’re working on

Mrs Rashid – the Beekeeper.
The last two weeks have been very strange for Mrs Rashid. She has two beehives on the allotments behind Waverley School. Two weeks ago she received a call by Ms Souli asking her to collect a swarm of bees from her garden. Mrs Rashid rescued them.
10 days later Mrs Rashid visited Ms Souli’s garden again to collect another swarm! That was Monday and by Tuesday they had been donated to a nice lady who keeps bees in her garden in Moseley.
On Wednesday she had another swarm! This time she thought it was her own bees escaping, but luckily they must have escaped from someone else’s garden in Small Heath /Yardley. This time she’s keeping it in her Apiary! If you want to learn more, email Mrs Rashid; [email protected]
